Remember, the power to grant citizenship lies with MOI and minister (Anutin) and this process is not subject to judicial review. Yes its a regulation, its mentioned in the Nationality that the Candidate "must have an occupation" Summary here - Under a 2008 amendment, males married to Thai females are now exempted from the requirement to have permanent residence and knowledge of Thai but not from the requirement to have an occupation in Thailand. In order to qualify for the exemption, men with Thai wives must have been legally married for 3 years (1 year if they have a child together). In addition to the qualifications specified in the Act, current ministerial guidelines require the following. You must show evidence that you have a job in Thailand paying a salary of at least 80,000 baht a month (40,000 if married to a Thai) along with tax receipts going back 3 complete calendar years. You need to present a valid work permit and originals or copies of expired work permits, if you have changed jobs within the period. You should be in a house registration book (blue TR14, if a permanent resident, otherwise a yellow TR13).

Thais are obligated to pay tax as well. Its not a matter of mood for Thais. I have a Thai friend whose Krungsri bank account was frozen on non payment of tax. Its fairly easy to catch Thais since all of their transactions, bank accounts are linked to their Thai national ID card.

Yes. The bank puts a LIEN on that amount, in case you default they use those funds to pay the credit card.

Pink card number stays the same, changing amphurs (District Office) is not a problem. They can search for it on their system by your Name , date of birth or Passport number etc. Not a Problem

You may start your own small company and pay yourself a salary of 40k thb a month. However, it wont be cheap ( company taxes, accountant fees etc) It all depends on what you want? @khongaeng in his previous posts mentioned that he spent several thousand Euros to get hold of Thai citizenship. So again it boils down on what you really want, there are several work arounds!

They (SB) may not mention since non PRs are eligible after 3 yrs. So they may assume that you would get 0 points anyway since all of the married bunch would be less than 5 yrs anyway. Sorry Garry, I meant the Yellow Book , if less than 5 yrs old = 0 points

3 yrs of tax payment (PND 91) 3 yrs of continuous work permit Legally Married to Thai lady for 3 yrs (either Foreign or Thai Marriage Certificate) Yellow House Book + Pink card (Preferably Bangkok) Others are mostly your company documents Work permit and tax documents are non negotiable! If you don't have these, start gathering them now , to be eligible in coming years.
