Story Of My Thai Citizenship Application
DrJoy replied to dbrenn's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Females dont need to change/reserve name. Reason - They are adopting their Husbands Thai nationality, its not Naturalization as we know. For this very reason they(females) are not provided a Certificate of Naturalization, only a letter stating that they have been allowed to convert their nationality into Thai + Certified RG copies. Only foreign men Naturalize as Thai citizen as per the Thai law. Having no naturalization certificate may prove to be a problem later in life, but thats how it is. -

No difference in processing times. If you apply on the basis of married to a Thai, your wife must be with you during the MOI interview. If not, consider it cancelled -
Those do not cover the battery pack. You may want to read the fine print again. If you damage the battery in an unfortunate accident or it catches fire etc, the cheaper insurance does NOT cover it. New battery pack costs approx 1.33 Mill THB, which will have to be paid in cash.

Restoring a Kasikorn bank account ?
DrJoy replied to SamSpades's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
If the account is 0 for more than a year, its closed automatically. You need to open a new one , requirements here - Document required for Foreigners - Passport Visa (non-immigrant VISA) or identification documents issued by the government of the country of the nationality such as national ID card, driver’s license, House Registration, etc. Documents per the objectives of entering Thailand : - Work in Thailand : Documents showing permission to work in Thailand, such as Work Permit - Retirement in Thailand : Proof of address in Thailand such as house / condominium rent contract, water / electricity bill, etc. - Study in Thailand : Certification letter issued by school or educational institution. https://www.kasikornbank.com/en/personal/account/pages/savings.aspx -
Yes. The owner of the house has to personally visit the district office with you and vouch for you. Sometimes a witness is also required. You will need a certified copy of your passport (your embassy) + Thai translation + certification from the Thai MFA

Its mandatory to be in a Bangkok Tabien Baan otherwise the Special Branch Police will simply not take your application. If married to a Thai you are not required to sing. You cannot choose your points or requirements, Minimum 50 points are required to qualify. Speaking Thai gives you 8 points -

As arkady said, it will be risky. However, if you really cant keep your job or get fired etc, you may want to start your own small business and get a WP. If you see the nationality act, it clearly mentions that the candidate must have an occupation. That being said, nothing is written in stone but on this forum all of us will agree that you must maintain WP thru out the processing period Hope this helps -

If not married to a Thai, you have to sing Thai National Anthem, Royal Anthem from memory, in a clear precise tone. It may not be everyone's cup of tea. There are reports that one individual was not able to sing in a clear tone, he did not pass that day and was told to be there in the next MOI interview. -
