  1. Yes, I suspect that may be the case. If they could only give me 9 months that would suit me. I'm going to Korat Imm next week to do my 90 days, so I will ask there.
  2. Yes, I understand that they won't extend beyond the validity, but will they extend up to the validity, which is OK with me?
  3. I hope OP doesn't mind me asking my question here, but it's related and saves starting a new thread. My UK PP expires April 2023. My next retirement renewal is due in July 2022. I'm planning on going to Australia around Oct 2022, and thought I'd renew my UK PP in Australia, which I believe is easier and quicker than doing it here in Thailand. But what's going to happen when I go to Thai Imm in July 2022 to renew my Retirement ext. and I have 9 months validity left on my PP? Will they extend my retirement ext only up to the expiry date of the PP (ie give me 9 months instead of the usual 12 months?

    Faux brick wall

Thanks everybody for your replies. I have watched several YT vids and understand about taping off sections and painting in a couple of colors....1 color for the cement, and another for the bricks. But I'm really after tips on how to make the paint look like real brickwork, like tonray's suggestion: you can use a sponge and dab the painted 'brick' areas after applying paint. Could clean, well washed sand be added to paint to give a gritty texture to the painted wall? Any other painters tricks (like dabbing with a damp sponge) to get texture?
  5. Any tips on painting an interior wall to give it a brick wall look to be a feature. It's inside an apartment. The wall is actually a brick wall but it's had numerous coats of paint over the years, so stripping it back to bare bricks is too much work. I just want to repaint it so it looks as much as possible like nice rustic brickwork.
  6. Yep, that's pretty well what I thought too. Thanks for your reply and the info. To tell the truth I really don't mind driving to BKK and back, it's quite boring where I am so a trip to BKK gives me a change of scenery and something else to do for a day.
  7. Had 1st AZ jab at MedPark in BKK a couple months ago, and have appointment for the 2nd jab at end of this month at MedPark. But a friend told me no need to drive to BKK (I live in Pak Thong Chai) I should be able to get that 2nd jab at a walk in vax center in Korat. So does anyone know if I could walk in anywhere (Central Korat?) and get another jab of AZ (I don't want Pfizer, don't want to mix up) Any info for me?
  8. I had Redmi Note 7, great phone, no issues at all, terrific camera, yes it came with some junk stuff but I deleted the junk and disabled a couple things, very good phone. I recently gave it to my wife as her old phone was so slow, and I bought a new Redmi Note 10. Again, excellent phone for the price - 6000Bt. The camera is so good I no longer use my Sony or Fuji cameras. I have none of the issues some people have discussed here. I highly recommend Redmi Notes. Latest is the 11 with 5G.
  9. Well they can buy beer/wine in Lotus or 7-11 and drink in their rooms. That's a real groovy holiday...insurance/tests, possibilities of false positives and you get locked up for 2 weeks, then quarantine when you arrive back home. All that hassle just to see some temples and knock back a few cans of Leo in your room?
  10. Not at all. One, I think he was Russian, was walking towards me and when he had nearly reached me he suddenly cut across in front of me and banged into me. Another, I think German, was walking behind me and suddenly he was alongside me shouting that I wasn't walking in a straight line. Perhaps I had moved while I was walking to avoid stepping into dogsh*t or a hole in the footpath... can't remember now.
  11. I have a couple of times, and it was in the day, nothing to do with drunks in bars at night. Agro farang having a go at me in the street as I was walking home from shopping at Big C. I'm in my early 70s and know that getting into street fights is not a wise thing at my age, so both times I just shut up and kept walking. To me this is one of the worst aspects of getting into old age because if I was still in my 30s-40s-50s I would have held my ground and said...yeah mutha fuka, have a go.
  12. Little macho men, they have a 100cc plastic moped and they make it as noisy as possible and pretend they're riding a Harley-Davidson.
  13. That was the stage I had reached too, I just couldn't put up any longer with all their nonsense all year round, so we were splitting our time between Aust & Thai. It was very doable with cheap AA flights, and we own homes in both countries. Wonderful lifestyle, summers in Aust, then back here at the start of Aust winter, then back again to Aust for Xmas/NY. Plus we had stopover trips on the way, like a week in KL/Malacca. Then you know what happened. And I've been here again for the past 19 months.
  14. Beats me why anyone wouldn't eagerly take the vaccine. If someone refuses for medical reasons - they have past severe reactions to vaccines, ok I get it. But otherwise???? I live 250km from BKK. I drove my car to a BKK hospital got vax and drove home. In 3 weeks time I'll do it again for my 2nd jab. So I traveled 1000 kms to get fully vaxed.
  15. PIs, Malaysia, Cambodia. Reason being I'd prefer to stay in SEA. I like Malaysia, could easily settle in a town like Malacca. Cambodia - Kampot/Kep, haven't been to either place but from what I know about them I think they would suit me well. PIs great beer, lots of beaches/islands, no language barrier.
  16. Same in Australia, you'd be arrested and charged. You'd end up before a judge for him/her to decide.
  17. I had 1 AZ at Medpark 7 weeks ago, my 2nd jab appointment is in 5 weeks. Some of my friends have asked for and received the 2nd jab earlier, after 6-8 weeks, but everything I've read indicates that waiting the full 12 weeks gives optimum protection with AZ. So I'll be fully vaxed with AZ late Oct. I guess about 5-6 months later, around March/April 2022, I'll be considering a Pfizer or Moderna booster.
  18. If/when this pandemic ends and mass tourism returns to Thailand, there'll be an almighty eruption of greed, jacking up prices, fleecing the foreigners. It'll get ugly.
  19. When you see them discussing tourist projections it's always only in terms of anticipated income, anticipated amounts spent per head. They never seem to take into account that these tourists are human beings that should be treated kindly and given protection from the ever increasing local criminal elements, and given medical treatment when required without patting their hands together with glee and seeing an ill or injured foreigner as someone to be financially gutted.
  20. Interesting point. I have dual citizenship & 2 PPs....UK & Aussie. I'm currently in Thailand on my UK. Already had 1 jab of AZ and booked to get 2nd Jab in Oct. Then I'll have my covid cert from MedPark stating that Mr xxxxxxxxxx UK citizen PP xxxxxx is fully vaxed, so if I go back to Australia, then return to Thailand on my Australia PP. Thais will not only see a different PP number but a totally different nationality.
  21. I've been spending quite a bit of time in KK recently. I rented a studio apartment at 185 Residence. It's right next to the Bueng Nakorn lake, so very central, with plenty of restaurants & minimarts all around, plus the lake is nice for morning/evening walks. https://185resiedence.wixsite.com/185residence I'm paying 8500 bt a month, plus whatever my elect/water comes to. There's a fair sized bedroom with a small lounge area...sofa & TV, then a little kitchen area and small balcony. Very nice sunset views from the bedroom window. There's also the Piman Lakeside Condos a bit further up the road, but they're asking 15,000 bt a month for 1 bedroom apartments. Too much for me. I don't know about transportation links as I have my own car.
  22. 45 weeks, they're mad, that's almost a year, so at the most deadliest stage of the pandemic so far, as Delta variant is exploding around the world, they suggest we spend the best part of the coming year only partially vaccinated.
