  1. Again, nothing new here. British and European men have been relocating to tropical regions for centuries. Lured by the sunshine, cheap living, and the availability of native women. If you read Maugham's novels, they're full of tales of Englishmen & Scotsmen & Frenchmen living the good life in SE Asia and Pacific islands.
  2. So many troops packed tightly into trains and on ships and in trucks, so the virus spead so quickly.
  3. Now 77, for me the best thing is I know so much more about life, about how to handle people, about myself and my limitations and my weaknesses. So I can live my life without making so many dumb blunders like I did in the past. And another good thing is I don't have much libido these days, so my little head isn't leading me around getting me into trouble all the time.😁
  4. No big deal, just a bit of bother, it got broken up within seconds and nobody was injured. Used to see similar things every Friday & Saturday night when I was a teen.
  5. "The bill, initiated by Pheu Thai Party"...initiated by Takky, he's calling the shots and shaping Thailand in his favor again.
  6. Nakhon Si Thammarat, that province's claim to fame is the highest murder rate in Thailand.
  7. I just don't pay these dual prices, don't go to their grubby national parks full of plastic bags and mangy dogs, and I've seen enough gaudy Thai temples to last me half a dozen lifetimes.
  8. Cheers, I have actually downloaded a guide to doing that, and it says if you have an old phone you don't use you can switch IMEI, I have an old Nokia haven't used for several years, so I may be able to switch to that old IMEI. I don't live in BKK so can't get to MBK. Thanks for the tip.
  9. OK, will rooting get past the problem?
  10. So he took videos of himself having sex with a 6yo and put the vids on social media? In addition to being a sexual deviant he doesn't sound very bright.
  11. All over the country they need culling. In some areas it's ridiculous. On average a bitch is on heat 2 or 3 times a year, and the average litter size is 5-6 pups.
  12. I bought a Vivo Y55 5G smartphone 2nd hand in Australia, and it's locked to Telstra, can't use any other carrier's sim. I've lost contact with the guy I bought if from, so can't get any info from him. I thought it would be OK when I got back to Thailand as there are all those shops in TukCom that say they can unlock phones. But none of them can, and I've taken the phone to many now. They just say they can't do it, and I can only use the phone connected to wifi, not with a sim. So are there are way around this? What about flashing with a different rom? Or wiping off android and installing another OS? Would doing anything like this remove the carrier lock? I've ever seen online that it's possible to change the IMEI, would that make a difference.
  13. Nothing new here, been going on for decades, many guys come to Thailand for a holiday for a few weeks and rent a gal from a bar to stay with them for the duration and travel with them to other destinations around Thailand or even neighboring countries. They prefer to be with one gal for the entire time rather than chopping and changing. Also many such arrangements are now organized privately via Thai Friendly and similar apps.
  14. Yep, that's a wonderful suggestion, get a lawyer and take the owner to court and fight the case, so he can continue remaining living there where he'll cross paths with the owner and the owner's family every day. He'll really feel like he's living in the Land of Smiles then. And next time the owner or the owner's son gets drunk he'll probably cop a shellacking.
  15. It is his responsibility, he drove his car into the gate, so he should fix it. Insurance companies like to drag their heels when it comes to making payments, they also looking for the cheapest options. If it was me and I damaged a gate where I was renting, and the owner was pissed off, I would fix it out of my own pocket. We're not talking huge sums here, probably a couple thousand baht. But now the owner is pissed off and booting him out causing him lots of grief.
  16. Never been big on phone conversations, to me a phone call is solely to sort something out, as soon as whatever it is has been sorted out it's goodbye. I certainly make far less phone calls now than I did in the past due to various messaging apps on my phone.
  17. Sounds to me like you don't have a friendly relationship with the condo owner. 6 years is a very long time and you should have established a good relationship in that time. The owner naturally wants the gate that you damaged to be repaired or replaced, and really it is your responsibility to do that. The fact he wants you out of there makes me think there are other issues. Perhaps he doesn't like you, maybe he wants you out so he can increase the rent with a new tenant. I doubt if there's anything you can do now but move. If the Thais you are living with turn on you, then you are better off far away from them.
  18. No not Vietnam, they would resist and tie up too many troops, but Laos, Cambodia, Thailand...low hanging fruit.
  19. Very small population (under 600,000) and beautiful natural countryside, but can get freezing cold - after Hobart the next stop is Antarctica.
  20. OK that makes sense then, they had top tier travel insurance.
  21. I'm missing something here: How did they get back into Thailand? If they got sick in Vang Vieng and were taken to Vientiane, presumably to a hospital there, why were they flown into Thailand (Udon Thani)? If they are on life support, why would the Thais allow them into the country in that condition? These girls may die at any moment, surely the Thais don't want foreigners coming in to die a day or two later, then Thailand has to deal with all that legal formality with deceased foreigners. Why weren't they just treated at the hospital in Vientiane. Things don't add up with this story.
  22. I'll never forget the first time that happened to me. I used to walk past bars and gals would call out "velly nie" or "hello sexy man" then one day about 25 years ago I walked past a bar at Ao Nang, Krabi and some bitch called out "hello poppa" and that was the start, a line had been crossed that day, it was like every bargal in Thailand had got together and decided that from that moment on I was now officially "poppa" 😄
  23. I entered visa exempt at Swampy 2 weeks ago, new Aussie PP, first entry to Thailand with that PP, I was asked by IO how long I was staying, I replied 6 weeks, and I was stamped in for 60 days. I'm returning to Australia mid December, and will remain there until mid March 2025. In mid March I want to make another visa exempt entry for about 6-7 weeks. So that would be my 2nd visa exempt in 6 months, and my 1st for 2025. Does that sound like an OK plan or would 2 entries in 6 months raise any issues with immigration?
  24. Exactly same for us, we live 50km out of Korat city, but for us it's no big deal, every 3 months I have to drive into the immigration to do the 90-day report, which take 5 minutes, then we're off to Lotus's, Makro, and the other big stores.
