  1. I must be doing something wrong because my Thai tax refund takes a ridiculously long time. I filed my 2020 return around January 4th, 2021 and just received my refund in December. I read Thai at a first grade level and am incapable of filling out the return myself so the guy at the desk at Jomtien Revenue office helps me fill it out. It seems that no refund ever arrives in the mail and I make repeated visits to the 4th floor to try to sort things out. The last two years they physically handed me the coupon to deposit in my Krungthai account. Is there a way that my refund can be direct deposited to one of my other accounts and if so what line of the tax return would that be on?
  2. I am in the same boat as you but don't own a condo, I opened up an SCB EZ account last June at the Pattaya Central Festival branch. It was pretty painless. They told me that they could not stop the 15% tax withholding but I think the bank rep didn't want to do something she hasn't done before. Yesterday, I gave it another try and used Google Translate and the rep sent me to a rep at another window and she was on the phone then copied the number on my Tax ID card and gave me the impression that there won't be anymore withholding but won't know for sure until the end of June as interest and withholding is semi-annual. Is there any place on the website that shows this status? I also have these 2 accounts but don't want to risk immigration problems so continue to keep 800K in my Mee Tae Dai account. It's a shame that I am foregoing 4K baht in interest but worth it for the peace of mind.
  3. Went to the AIS shop at Central Festival in Pattaya to buy a 100GB per month, 10Mbps download speed for a one time 1790 baht fee for the year. The AIS rep said he did not have any and implied that they will be no longer selling them. On Lazada, I see the same product for 1540 baht. When buying a Sim, I always had to register the Sim, show my passport etc. So I am not clear about the procedure. If buying a Sim on Lazada, do I then bring it to the AIS shop, show my passport and have them activate it?
  4. Poor wording on my part. The Post Office is fine and am interested in hearing all details about Post Office shipping as well as other alternatives.
  5. We want to ship a 110cc scooter from Pattaya to Sakon Nakhon. We like the bike and it is worth more to us than we could get selling it. I googled the following old article and the price seems reasonable. https://www.tielandtothailand.com/shipping-motorcycle-thailand-mail-post-office/ Has anyone here shipped a bike within Thailand? Anyone have any suggestions as to who provides this service other than the post office. We are not concerned with speed of delivery and as it is an old used bike we're not too concerned with the quality of the transport service.
  6. My friend is coming Thailand and plans to get what is commonly referred to as a Retirement Visa for the first time. He will be using the 800K in the bank method and already has the money in his account. We want to make sure he doesn't forget any required documents from home but I can't think of anything he needs to bring from home except his passport which of course he needs to get into Thailand and his bankbook which could be easily replaced if he forgot it. Is there anything else he must bring from home? Is there anything else which would be helpful such as USA bank statements even though he using the 800K method? Just want to make sure that there is nothing overlooked.
  7. I am trying to help out a friend with Thailand Pass. Since I heard that the system doesn't like PDF files I converted them to JPG but the result was a ZIP file. I unzipped it and now have 6 JPGs since the PDF was 6 pages. Can my friend upload 6 JPGs for the Insurance section or must I somehow combine the 6 JPGs into 1 JPG? All help appreciated! ????
  8. Is it possible with Bolt to save more than 2 locations, Home and Work?
  9. Trying to help out my tech challenged friend successfully navigate the Thailand Pass system with the Test and Go option but have a few questions. 1) Is it correct that my American friend does not need a visa and can still get Thailand Pass approval if planning to get a 30 day (or 45) visa exempt stamp? 2) Is it correct that the only lodging that needs to be booked and paid for in advance is one day at an approved Test and Go Hotel? 3) Do any Americans have QR codes on their vaccination receipts? If a QR makes the process go smoothly, is there a way one can retroactively get a QR code? Thanks! ????
  10. Perhaps a stoopid question but exactly how do we know if our Paypal account is a Thai Paypal account?
  11. I would think many prospective Test And Go people would want to know how much one extra day, if required, costs at each hotel.
  12. Ideally he would like to stay slightly more than 3 months every year from a couple days after Christmas to a couple days before Easter. In prior years, he would visit somewhere else on the way home, Cambodia, Laos, etc. but would prefer to stay put in Thailand. So for 2900 a year (1900+1000 for re-entry permit he can stay over 3 months with the downside of having to keep 800K in the bank. Sounds good Joe as he will still be in Thailand and could then apply for a one year extension of stay 30 days before the end of the 90 days.
  13. So if he arrived on December 1st and was able to deposit the money in the bank that same day then the earliest he could apply for the Non-O would be approx Feb1 and then his annual renewal date would be approx May 1st which isn't good for him. Is there some way he could arrange things so that his renewal date is in March? Ideally he would like a late February renewal date. I suppose he could wire money into his account now but I remember once for a transaction of over 20K I had to go to the branch and sign for the money.
  14. A friend of mine wants to stay in Thailand for 4 months and in future years stay 3 months. He is thinking about getting a 2 month Tourist Visa and then converting it to a Retirement Visa (think this Non-O though could perhaps be a Non-OA) in Thailand. If he were to arrive in Thailand on a Tourist Visa on December 1st and convert it to a Non-O at Immigration what would be his annual renewal date? I ask this because even though I entered Thailand in April years ago, my annual renewal date is in October.
  15. Went to Phyathai 2 in Bangkok with a buddy for our second Astra jabs. He was scheduled for Tuesday and me for Wednesday. I went along with him today (Tuesday) with my passport and they let me get jabbed today too. No resistance whatsoever. They didn't take my blood pressure either. Afterward they give a proof of vaccination with dates and lot number. My friend had a yellow vaccination book and you can get that filled out in the room next to where you get your original receipt. My vaccination date was move dup 3 weeks so check your SMS.
  16. I enrolled in Part B before I started collecting SS. Manila sets up a telephone appointment and calls you at your Thai number. Earlier this year I decided to collect SS and again Manila again set up a phone appointment and called me at my Thai number.
  17. Had my first cup this morning and it is excellent! Not sure if it is bean quality or because it was both freshly roasted and ground. Just noticed the company also has a cheaper product named Signature and the price is only 240 and also BOGOF. Their website and email verification also inspires confidence. I use a paper filter inserted into a plastic cone. I ordered Medium Roast and Medium Grind. What Grind would you order for a paper filter.
  18. My 2nd dose also got moved forward three weeks. Notification arrived by text message.
  19. Thanks Joe! Near expiration time, will he then be able to apply for a one year extension stay without explicit Covid coverage?
  20. A friend with a retirement extension of stay wants to get back into Thailand. He doesn't care about the actual coverage, only that it satisfies the legal requirement. On the TGIA website the policy premium depends on length of coverage. Can he choose the cheapest 30 day coverage if his intention is to stay around 8 months. Or must he choose coverage to match his extension of stay termination? Or to the date that he plans to leave Thailand?
  21. I need a medallion signature guarantee so that I can wire money from my Fidelity account to a bank in Thailand. Googling around, I came across these two branches: JP Morgan Chase Bank 20 North Sathorn Road, Bubhajit Building100 Bangkok 10500 Tel: 662-684-2805 Citibank NA 399 Interchange 21 Building Sukhumvit Road Klongtoey Nua, Wattana, Bangkok 10110 Tel: 662-232-2484 Has anyone dealt with these branches? Anyone know if they will provide a medallion signature guarantee for me? I guess I could open an account with them if that was what was required to get the medallion signature guarantee.
  22. Was any supporting documentation required such as an invoice? I would like to do a small Swift transfer to the USA; less than 500 USD. Can use Bangkok Bank, Krungsri, SCB, or Kasikorn.
