  1. No idea. The doctor took one glance at it and determined that it was the less dangerous type. No tests. Another doctor sent me for an ultrasound but it was unremarkable. To me it seems like a fairly large tear, about 2 or 3 inches long but has not progressed. A doctor did say it would be problem if it ever emerged suficiently to cause strangulation but not otherwise.
  2. It's quite depressing. One would have hoped the education system was better than this.
  3. Indeed. 64 people got on with their deaths in Thailand last week. Some people feel an obligation to help reduce that number.
  4. Random poll from thehill.com. What Do You Think? Which best describes your potential vote for former President Trump in the 2024 presidential election? Definitely voting for him 19% Probably voting for him 12% Probably not voting for him 4% Definitely not voting for him 60% Based on 1,711 responses. 72% of respondents were white.
  5. It my be biased but it doesn't lie like several other news services. Ad Fontes Media rates The Guardian in the Skews Left category of bias and as Reliable, Analysis/Fact Reporting in terms of reliability. Worrying about bias is barking up the wrong tree. Truth and reliability are key.
  6. The article does not refer to The Guardian. A diatribe on confirmation bias in general is off topic. The Guardian reported on a book. Are they supposed to ignore the book release? That would be censorship. The right wing is all over the map on that topic.
  7. Proof that Trump shared Mar-a-Lago docs 'changes the game' for Jack Smith indictment Appearing on MSNBC's "The Katie Phang Show," Guardian reporter Hugo Lowell claimed Donald Trump might have avoided being hit with violations of the Espionage Act if it had not been reported that he shared highly sensitive government documents with friends at his Mar-a-Lago resort. According to Lowell, who has been reporting that the documents may have been hidden from Trump lawyer Evan Corcoran, a new report that Trump left documents laying about and might have shown them to others makes it more likely he'll face more severe charges if that is true. "The Washington Post reported this week about how prosecutors seem to have evidence that Trump was showing highly sensitive documents to other people," https://www.rawstory.com/donald-trump-espionage-2660715138/
  8. They've been reported ad infinitum on this board. I haven't cherry picked anything. Denying that there is no significant economic or health ramifications to climate change is patently wrong.
  9. The Guardian didn't do the research. Sorry, shooting the messenger doesn't cut the mustard.
  10. Climate crisis is ‘battering our economy’ and driving inflation, new book says Climatenomics lays out how ‘supply chain disruptions’ has become a euphemism for the effects of climate change Assessing the role of climate change on economies is one thing but, for now, most models merely assess the cost of climate-related disasters, not their underlying effect on inflation. According to Keefe, citing National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Noaa) figures, climate-related weather disasters cost the US economy more than $145bn in 2021 – a nearly 50% increase from last year. Over the last five years, they have cost $750bn. Since 1980 323 weather and climate disasters have cost $1bn or more, the total cost of these events exceeds $2.195tn. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/jun/11/climate-crisis-inflation-economy-climatenomics-book
  11. Across all study countries, we find that 37.0% (range 20.5–76.3%) of warm-season heat-related deaths can be attributed to anthropogenic climate change and that increased mortality is evident on every continent. Burdens varied geographically but were of the order of dozens to hundreds of deaths per year in many locations. Our findings support the urgent need for more ambitious mitigation and adaptation strategies to minimize the public health impacts of climate change. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41558-021-01058-x
  12. The fact that modern tech has reduced the number of deaths due to better warning systems is really irrelevant to the question of whether climate change is occurring or not. The WMO, meanwhile, warned that while deaths have plunged, the economic losses incurred in weather-related disasters have soared. The agency previously recorded economic losses had increased sevenfold from 1970 to 2019, rising from $49m per day during the first decade to $383m per day in the final one. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/5/22/climate-change-causes-2m-deaths-in-50-years-poor-suffer-most-un
  13. The closest car parks to the rear entrance at Central Marina.
  14. I heard they have still have swamps in Florida. Why hasn't he drained them already?
  15. Stop playing the victim card. There's no history of systemic racism against white Americans. Individual acts of racial hatred don't count as generalized racism. Whites in America can only point to a history of massive advantage in their country. Obviously all races suffer racial abuse on occasion. That does not make all sides equal.
  16. Interesting. I wonder what oil they use. They never said. I worry about what the very intense heat does to that oil.
  17. What about famine, drought, migration, etc which are caused by global warming? People die in cold weather from hypothermia, largely a product of poverty. Global warming contributes to poverty. Stronger storms, floods , droughts and fires do untold damage and engender increased poverty. Your analysis is very shallow. I'd say deliberately so.
  18. Lately it seems like there is a dearth of tourists of any nationality around Pattaya suddenly. The more popular WS bars were half empty last week and soi 6 bars have few customers tonight even for a Saturday night. More girls than I have ever seen and most of them are complaining about lack of customers.
  19. You still wouldn't find the best hole inn the wall restaurants. My gym trainer insisted on showing me a home restaurant very close to my condo today. It's closer than any other restaurant and prices are 50 to 60 baht for most dishes. Everything is written in Thai, they deliver and the seafood fried rice I had today was great. I don't think they've seen too many foreigners there, it's in a dead end street off another dead end street. They do a lot of deliveries. This is the kind of restaurant I like.
  20. AZ is not recommended anymore and I believe not even available in Australia anymore. Get the bivalent vaccination and stop listening to misinformation about mRNA vaccines.
  21. Like children the right wing are obsessed with derogatory name calling. Trump found that it works so it has spread like a disease in the party.
