  1. He's pretty good for a person who has had a lifelong speech impediment and had to receive intensive therapy as a young person. Xi will not be so stupid. He's gone there to persuade Putin to accept a political settlement acceptable to the west. China's trade is minuscule compare to that with the US and western allies against Russia. China has warned Russia never to do this, so has India. Putin will only do this if he knows his number is up and the grim reaper has arrived at his door. At that time his Generals will off him. Russia wants to be a world player, not an ash tray. The mantra that the west should surrender to Russia because he might press the red button is getting tired now.
  2. Ok, I was referring to the individual in the OP. Like all politicians (except Trump), he's quoting his advisors.
  3. Are you suggesting no action should be taken against Russia because other countries have done the same thing?
  4. The White House gave Russia advance warning that Biden would make the trip, letting Moscow know several hours before he left Washington in order to tamp down tensions surrounding the visit, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters Monday. He declined to say what response Russia offered, if any, to being given a heads up about the visit. https://www.newsweek.com/bidens-snap-kyiv-visit-months-planning-including-heads-moscow-1782431
  5. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) slammed President Joe Biden's visit to Ukraine Monday, on the eve of the anniversary of Russia's invasion, as “incredibly insulting." “Today on our President’s Day, Joe Biden, the President of the United States chose Ukraine over America, while forcing the American people to pay for Ukraine’s government and war,” Greene tweeted. “I cannot express how much Americans hate Joe Biden.” https://www.rawstory.com/marjorie-taylor-greene-2659441985/
  6. That the leader of the House majority is cooperating with a company who is the subject of a 1.6 billion dollar lawsuit is beyond the pale. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has turned over 41,000 hours of surveillance footage from the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol to Fox News primetime commentator Tucker Carlson, reported Axios on Monday. "Carlson TV producers were on Capitol Hill last week to begin digging through the trove, which includes multiple camera angles from all over Capitol grounds. Excerpts will begin airing in the coming weeks," Axios reported. https://www.rawstory.com/january-6-2659441803/
  7. In Pattaya's walking street Russian touts are working within eyesight of the police.
  8. You actually want Russians to be able to take jobs away from Thais? It wouldn't fly in my country without a job offer before arrival and issue of the relevant visa.
  9. Not wanting to be a grammar nazi but part of the reason they look at you like you came from Mars might be "I always mai sai toom. No plastic!" A bag is "toong" and you should say "mai ow toong". ????
  10. which engineering degree would that be? He attended upper-secondary school at Triam Udom Suksa School, and graduated Bachelor of Science in 1972 and Doctor of Medicine in 1974 from Chulalongkorn University.[2]
  11. what's naive? Taking steps to solve the plastic waste problem?
  12. How does reassuring people that the virus will end this year spread fear? You're still unable to describe the actual mechanism by which this conspiracy theory works. The right like to just say "oh, it;s common sense" but can articulate nothing beyond that. As a sociologist, I'd like to know. It's beyond my ken.
  13. The impossible thing to do is for Thailand to arrange for every country to screen passengers ultimately destined for Thailand. Many will come via other countries. The last port of call won't work either as many will only transit through those countries. En example to illustrate my point would be Indonesia demanding that a tourist who went there for three days screen a passenger going to Thailand via Singapore. How would that work?
  14. Please explain the mechanism by which government recommendations to wear masks enables political control. I've been at a loss to understand this conspiracy theory and nobody seems wiling to explain it. Will you? My understanding is that recommendations to wear masks saves lives, simple as that. You know, Occam's razor. The same recommendations have been made by every nation on the planet, yet it seems to have not resulted in political control.
  15. Idle speculation? Maybe a tinge of gratuitous Thai bashing?
  16. Let me think, will I believe you or Thailand's top virologist? You don't even attempt to provide a link to evidence to back up your idle speculation. btw, covid is not a rinovirus, it is a coronavirus. I think that answers my question.
  17. It's a step in the right direction. It seems like the naysayers here would prefer they did nothing until they can solve the entire problem, a solution which also escapes every other nation.
  18. The right have been focusing on the perceived Biden negatives. I pointed out a strong positive and made the case for the right to dump the negatives.
  19. I absolutely do. Furthermore I understand that Ukraine has owned it for almost 70 years. More than most of either country has been alive. It's Ukrainian territory.
  20. Yeah, the Biden is senile mantra is getting a bit tired now. The right wing need to find another line of attack.
  21. 43 million. If there has been no census where did you get your figures? Why are your numbers more accurate than this link? https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/ukraine-population/
  22. How then has Ukraine managed to thrash Russia in battle for the past year? What has changed now to allow Russia to win? Ukraine's military is far stronger now than it was a year ago and getting stronger.
  23. They must be having competitions at Mar a Lago to find the nuttiest conspiracy theory to promote. They probably realise that anything half sane won't cut it.
