  1. You don't understand why those banned from the country who commit further overstay offences aren't allowed bail? Seriously?
  2. She is not being "imprisoned", she will be detained at IDC pending deportation which is completely normal for overstayers arrested before leaving at the airport, especially those who have been banned from the country previously.
  3. Yes, sure is, the difference is that she was not at the airport on her way out where the conditions you reference would apply. She was arrested and her overstay discovered, that means detention and deportation.
  4. Because people are now aware that they can make money from their stupid transgressions.
  5. What is "the window" that allows overstayers to "simply pay the fine and go on with things"? Is that found at Immigration offices?
  6. Nonsense, not everyone is put in jail and that is not the practice here. Her case will be solved easily, there is no difficulty there. She will be fined for her repeat overstay and deported when she comes up with money for the ticket. You think she should be free to make her own way to the airport at her leisure? What do they do with repeat overstayers in your country?
  7. How do you suggest recidivist, illegal visa overstayers who may be on the game are treated?
  8. Except the UK....maybe? Those who overstay their UK visas aren't at risk of expulsion?
  9. Since the relevant Immigration Law was instigated and remains in effect. Are you suggesting that all overstays should ignored by the authorities?
  10. Obviously, that's the point of the law, just as it is in every country, particularly for repeat offenders.
  11. As was clearly reported, Thais were also "picked on".
  12. As has already been posted, Thais were included in the checks but this is a foreigner-oriented forum hence the foreigner-centric articles.
  13. Go on then. Don't forget to include every foreigner also.
  14. "i understand it’s due to a tiny pee pee" Sadly interesting that you have experience in that area.
  15. In the context of the article, the same Thai laws apply to Thais and foreigners equally, no "UN rules" are being broken.
  16. No, legally they can't if you're doing nothing more than legally having a drink at a legally-operating bar.
  17. "The police do nothing"? Huh? Did you read any of the OP?
  18. "Karon Police set up a checkpoint outside the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket to monitor both Thai and foreign motorists violating traffic laws". The articles here are aimed at a foreign audience hence the report of the foreign offenders which doesn't mean that Thais weren't also targeted.
  19. Consideration for businesses that may be on the "wrong" side of the road...as the article stated.
