  1. Don't know where it comes from but it is a well-known, usually derogatory or pejorative term for a journalist.
  2. KTB is not the government bank, it is a state-owned bank, as is GSB. The government just happens to use KTB for disbursements.
  3. Where? UK or Thailand? We were married and lived in Thailand and my now ex-wife had no entitlement to any UK benefits as a result of just being married to a Briton.
  4. "See how useless your Thai bank is when you go and try to register for the facial scan rule". If your bank does not require that registration then not offering it is not being useless.
  5. That's up to you if you cannot see the possible benefit of having a choice of bank accounts...I can.
  6. Same as you, I was able to do it at Bangkok Bank; Kasikorn told me foreigners at their bank didn't have to do it yet. It's no big deal as the banks that cannot accommodate the facial recognition yet are not restricting transfer services over B50k as a result.
  7. You haven't "left it until the last minute", there is no cut-off date for registering if your bank has the facility, it can be done anytime.
  8. Managing a restaurant isn't a protected occupation, being a chef in a restaurant isn't necessarily a protected occupation.
  9. The Thai Labour Department. All work paid or unpaid requires a work permit. Cutting a tree down is work. It's known as being an Arborist. Nonsense. Mowing your own lawn is not working, neither is painting your own wall, neither is pruning your own tree.
  10. From Bangkok Bank home page. I wonder how they changed yours. They gave me a form that needed signing, took copies, hit some keys on the computer and told me they'd send it on to my branch, that's how. If you'd like to complain to BBL's CEO about my getting decent service, the branch in BIg C, Onnut did it to save me having to go to Silom.
  11. Why? What would be the point, he's dead. Do you expect him to be charged with drunk driving?
  12. Who says that mowing your own lawn, painting your own wall, cutting down your own tree or cleaning your own pool is not permitted?
  13. Yes, it is strange but that doesn't alter the fact that the alterations can be done at any branch as that is how I did mine...if it wasn't possible, except at the account opening branch, I wouldn't have been able to update my details, would I?
  14. You're quite right, it reported that he was "found (not "found") undressed". In the absence of any indication of any clothing, that's naked.
  15. Wouldn't a 14mm socket be the one to go for? Why would you need a 21/22mm socket for 14mm? Ask the shop or buy one and if if it doesn't fit, exchange it for one that does. Or buy all three, they cost 5/8ths of 'uck all.
  16. How could your wife complete a divorce in Thailand without your being involved in it unless she did it in court? Ending a Thai marriage at the amphur does not require "the whole mfa certification, translation, stamps this and that". I did mine just by turning up at the amphur with a witness (I think) with her and signing whatever was put in front of me.
  17. What are you going to do when Kasikorn goes the way of SCB and KTB online banking? Never a good idea to close any bank account that you don't have to, always good to have an alternative and it costs next to nothing to keep it open.
  18. That may have been what you were told (wrongly) but, officially, updating those details can be done at any branch, I know that because that's what I did at a local mall branch and there's no reason for that branch to have made an exception for me.
  19. You go to a social services office or the help office at Heathrow.
