  1. I am a citizen of Thailand now , but I don't have the nationality.... Really? How does that work, then? If you're a Thai citizen you do have Thai nationality and a Thai ID card.
  2. It doesn't but it does specifically refer to foreigners which wouldn't be necessary if those fees applied to Thais also. The Op also also provided the link where it shows Thai’s adults are charged 15 Baht. Ok, I missed that but it doesn't make any difference to the OP's circumstance.
  3. If I live with my daughter when I go back to UK and she registered me as living there and go back and fourth to Thailand it can be done. Of course, but that's not the OP's situation.
  4. Jesus, how many do you think that there are? It won't, it's not as if those villagers are taking money out of the accounts, if they're mule accounts that will have been done already..
  5. Why? Or sarcasm?
  6. It's been like that for years, most tourists probably know but don't care about B300. How many tourists come here for Lumpini's swimming pool?!
  7. It doesn't but it does specifically refer to foreigners which wouldn't be necessary if those fees applied to Thais also.
  8. What makes you think that he's "a citizen of Thailand" when he's complaining about fees for foreigners? If he's a Thai citizen hell be paying Thai prices.
  9. We know. But it's not illegal here.
  10. Pay or don't go there will be best.
  11. That will also be the situation when a known resident of Thailand suddenly claims to have a new UK address to avoid having her account closed.
  12. It's been the UK banks' (not strictly enforced) regulation for many years, as you found out, probably at the BoE's recommendation, so I suppose it is a government directive indirectly.
  13. Not available in Thailand, so it doesn't work that flawlessly!.
  14. Quite agree. It's very likely that the bank will invite the account-holder to make a personal appearance at one of their branches. Yes...or ask her why her name doesn't show on the electoral register at the fake address she provides or why she cannot produce utility bills in her name. In reality the bank will realise that she is obviously lying (it knows she lives in Thailand) and won't bother to investigate, it'll just send her notification that the account is closing and ask her where would she like the balance sending.
  15. Chickenslegs has given you the only reasonable answer...Wise or her Thai bank. Or an offshore account (IOM or Channel Islands)
  16. She has no choice, the bank is closing the account, not her. After she tells the bank that she, magically, has suddenly become UK resident again (immediately after the bank's advice) with the bank knowing that she hasn't, don't you think think that they will check? They will.
  17. So tell 'em you've moved back. To an address that they cannot show is theirs when the bank asks them...as it will when it doesn't check out? The bank knows that they live in Thailand.
  18. Until the bank queries it! Funny how she's suddenly got a new UK address that she's not registered at while living, with the banks knowledge, in Thailand for years! Not so simple.
  19. Phi Phi Don was developed last century as a cocoanut plantation and the monkeys were likely brought there for harvesting. Past tourists have also fed the them creating the problem today. With the number of people bitten at Monkey Beach on a daily basis perhaps TAT should not promote the place. The other five injections around the bite site were likely rabies immunoglobulin. Then a shot of rabies vaccine in the arm followed by another four spaced over time. Why are you telling me all that?
  20. Yes, I know that but that was not what I was posting about. I'm glad that you accept that you are as equally responsible for your government's actions as the Russian visitors are for their governments actions, i.e. neither you nor they are individually responsible for a country's actions as you claimed the Russians in Thailand are. That's what I posted.
  21. So what? What actually happened was a damn stupid and irresponsible Aussie tried to interact with wild monkeys for financial benefit...can't he do anything right?
  22. As nonsensical as the chronic "another nail in the coffin of Thailand's tourism" comments.
  23. Why? Because they deliberately did something remarkably stupid by wanting interaction with wild monkeys?
  24. ...to benefit from the extra income her ride generated for them.
