  1. No such thing as "fine print" in UK insurance policies...unless you can post an example of such, of course.
  2. That's correct and the first 72 hours emergency treatment mandate extends to private hospitals also assuming they have ER facilities.
  3. Yes, they do, deceased persons have to be certified as such by a doctor, and they're found at hospitals. You really think that when ambulances turn up at fatals they leave the bodies in the road?
  4. "...an exclusion written in fine print". That was a lie, UK insurers' policy conditions cannot be shown in "fine print" by law.
  5. They do not put it on the front of their policies but they do state it very clearly and honestly in the normal policy conditions, there is nothing fraudulent about listing policy exemptions with the details of cover. That some people choose not to read what cover they have or deliberately decide to ignore it and take a chance is the problem of those people, not the insurers who are bound by industry guidelines as to how their policies and their conditions are laid out.
  6. The OP's question was about banks that will not close the accounts of non-UK residents. Santander certainly does not document that they will keep non-UK residents' accounts open.
  7. How could I answer something of which I have no experience? You want a hearsay answer? It's more telling that, presumably, you have experience of bribing police.
  8. Well greased, I hope.
  9. There's no such thing, they all can as they are all bound by the banks' (BoE?) rules that UK account holders are UK residents although relationships between banks and their customers can override some banks' decision to close accounts. It can be just a matter of time, though. You are going to get a few posts reporting that their bank has no problem with their location but that does not mean that the same attitude will apply to a new or recent customer...or even them in due course.
  10. Do you understand the concept of 'degree' ? If you offered a bribe to a roadside police officer here or in the USA which do you think is more likely going to end up with you being arrested? Do you understand the concept of "a little bit pregnant"? Should we high five because the US may be less corrupt than Thailand? The answer to your question doesn't alter the fact that all US systems are just as susceptible to corruption...and they are.
  11. "...the passenger became responsible for the victims hospital and "compensation" money!" Nonsense.
  12. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/us-orders-mans-return-to-thailand-over-killing/Z6EHZ2PU3NZVGRZVNBJRJPO23Q/
  13. You're safe, that's never going to happen, AN re-publishes other outlets news, not it's own!
  14. Yes, the US justice system has never been shown, or known, to be corrupt.
  15. I haven't seen any mention of her being arrested or apprehended. "The 57-year-old woman was arrested last week by the Royal Thai Police in Chonburi and appeared at a press conference beside Deputy National Police Commissioner Surachate Hakparn who told reporters that she was now in contact with US officials and would be extradited".
