  1. And nowhere in the OP or the link did it state that he is "rich and connected". Did you see his house and his old G Wagon that he was so concerned about? The majority on this thread seem to be assuming that he's part of the immensely rich Indian-Thai Nana family but that has not been confirmed.
  2. "Have not heard of holding without bail?" I'm sure they have and, if that was mandatory to be applied to this man's charges (it isn't), he would be locked up now.
  3. Neither his house, nor his (at least 15-year old) Strada G Wagon suggest that he is either rich or connected! The low level of bail doesn't suggest that either.
  4. In practically every other country bail would be on the table also. Maybe you know a country where the option of bail is denied by law for the offences he has been charged with?
  5. I spoke for myself as I am included in the "we". To assume that the majority of expats or forum users would not pay in one or the other way is just to naive for me. It is also naive to assume that a guy who takes women from the beach is a pimp instead of a common customer. "I spoke for myself as I am included in the "we"". Glad to hear it. "It is also naive to assume that a guy who takes women from the beach is a pimp..." I did not make that assumption, I didn't even comment on it.
  6. It may, officially, be a legal requirement but it has been clarified, officially, many times by the RTP and others that visitors are not expected to have the physical passport on their person at all times. As long as a reasonable copy is provided, that will suffice and no arrests will be made or other action taken.
  7. 'There is more to this than he letting on' seems to be a standard TV suspicion, but you should check the Consular website, not the British government website. How does one find that "Consular website"? Consular services in Bangkok are provided by a section of the British Embassy and the embassy site is www.gov.uk. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/notarial-and-documentary-services-guide-for-thailand#how-to-apply-for-a-notarial-or-documentary-service
  8. Somehow I suspect that there may be a little more to this than the OP is letting on about and that the title is not exactly accurate. Providing a certified copy of a British passport is still one of the services offered according to .gov,uk "...they 'are not identity experts". A notarisation is just an official certification that confirms that a photocopy is a real copy of an original document that the notary has seen. It is not confirmation of a person's identity.
  9. Not exactly, the EV gives a 12 month extension that can be renewed, maybe with less hassle, every year for twenty years.
  10. "They let a now government minister back in". Thai citizens cannot be denied entry to Thailand. "...he's Thai and now the leader of a political party". The person that you're, clearly, referring to is not a Minister. Which Thai political party do you claim he leads?
  11. Probably because he acquired his record in Australia, not New Zealand. Are the Aussies that particular about who gets in when it comes to New Zealanders, anyway? Perhaps he has an Australian passport?
