  1. Depends what the item is, its value and where and when it was purchased. A tourist arriving from, say, Hong Kong with a new Rolex or an apparently new "DJ's thing" would not be exempt from import duty and VAT being assessed.
  2. VAT on products purchased in Thailand is 7%. There are no other taxes payable on such items. Items personally imported into Thailand and declared (or discovered) may be charged import duty. 7% VAT is charged on its value plus any import duty.
  3. You didn't offend me but you did make an assumption after having a go at me for making an assumption that turned out to not be an assumption!
  4. Ok, so the house and land are both in her name, just as you originally stated and what you described as my "assumption" wasn't an assumption, it was an accurate reading of your post. Thanks for the clarification, hope you get the advice that you need.
  5. "Im from liverpool too..." What makes you think that I'm from Liverpool, never mind the same one as you? There are some anomalies in your thread that don't easily add up, such as the ownership of her land and house that makes giving accurate advice difficult so don't be giving me down the banks for asking about them on a forum that invites discussion.
  6. Overseas as well Really? Which Virgin Money accounts are available for non-UK residents?
  7. No your assumption is wide of the mark. I bought and paid for my home, it was ours, not hers but she fandangled her way to trying to assume control of everything. I prevened her from doing so with the video evidence against her You posted this earlier..."my home and the land is in her name". How have you mangaed to get your name, not hers, on the land and the home docs, then, if your previous post is not correct?
  8. so use the HANDBRAKE gently !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you must have degree in brake fade Use the handbrake which operates on the same fading brakes? Great idea. I'd guess that you don't have "a degree in brake fade", either.
  9. In short, what he wants is to be separated, live in her property but not allow her access to her house and land.
  10. How could you be "forced to sell" property that your wife owns? It's not yours to sell.
  11. What medication was prescribed that stops the smell of cattle? How did the location and odour of the cow shed cause you "breathing problems" or do you just mean that you don't care for the smell?
  12. So why don't you do that instead of just posting here that you "feel like it"?
  13. Brake fade, which causes the brakes to become ineffective, is not uncommon on hill descents such as the one reported in the OP. Fade can be interpreted by the driver as brake failure, it is not "a complete lie by Thais".
  14. Police stations are not provided with enough budget and/or vehicles by the government to patrol the roads effectively.
  15. There's someone condoning the rape of minors. Jesus....
  16. I believe those are painted blue and white. Those also but they weren't conversions. The vast majority of buses in Bangkok have been LPG/NGV-fuelled for years now.
  17. "Apparently"? Either they did, or they didn't. And is that really a "law"? Please feel free to point us towards the statute. They did. The emergency decree that is still in force covers the Covid-related regulations and restrictions. Please feel free to research it yourself.
  18. Can you quote just one actual current example of any of that? Extortion? What?
  19. Have you called Bangkok Bank to ask then the answer to this serious question or are you going to rely on guesswork from anonymous forum members, many of whom didn't even read your OP properly? Whatever "answers" you receive here you are going to have to confirm with the bank so why not just ask BBL direct? BBL's call centre has English-speaking staff available during and outside of normal business hours...+662 645 5555. Listen carefully to the options and be prepared to hold until staff are available, sometimes patience is needed. Due to the Songkran holiday you may need to wait until next week.
  20. Hardly. Drink driving punishments in Thailand go to a maximum of 10 years imprisonment and B200,000 fine.
