  1. Wrong.

They are well known for their abilities in combat. Their history is recorded. A very good book was published on them - The boys in Black, by White Lotus.

General Chavalit was instrumental in founding these elite paramilitary forces, they idea goes back to US influence during the days of the communist insurgency.

then why do these elite forces tie their shoulder strap to their sights? it makes them look like idiots walking around like that. the word 'special' in this instance brings to mind something entirely different than what they are trying to convey.

  2. Farangs in Thailand are underworked & overpaid. Thus they have shitloads of time to spend on such a site.

No no, that cant be the reason. There most be another reason :o

our wives won't let us out of the house after sun down. so we sit at the computer alone drinking beer talking to each other looking for a purpose.

Funny you should say that. Im sat here after drinking a small bottle of sangsom and thinking of something to post on thaivisa because im so bored im not allowed to go out to. hehe

well there you go. in a land where penis dismemberment is the highest in the world, we all tend to do what the missus says. and for good reason. i can't imagine myself outside right now. things might get ugly.

edit: i can go outside for a cigarette. but thats about it right now. i'll check this thread when i get back.

  3. As for the weapons i have no idea about the types and capabilities of them as i dont come from a gun society.

    Cheers, Rick

There have been many airsoft accidents in recent years. they have the ability to put an eye out.

  5. thailand breeds idleness. hence here we are.

So do many other countries! R u sure your telling the thruth with a avatar like that?

the other countries are too idle and don't even have the motivation to get online. Thailand is right in the middle.

  6. They certainly look like they know their business

i like how on the third picture the man's shoulder strap is covering his sights on his M16. How can he aim? The gun is for show, and he isn't showing any proficient knowledge of his firearm by blocking his sight. Good luck to him. I hope he never sees battle. But I guess he could do like Rambo and shoot from the hip.

  7. Limited Company

No need for 4 Thai employees but must have 2 million Baht registered capital

Question Do I actually have to have 2 million in a Thai Bank account? Can I just sign a document stating I have 2 million in assets but not actually have to show these assets?

In short I don't want to have any employees and I don't have access to 2 million Baht that I could put in a Thai bank. i would like to know how to navigate these requirements.

You don't need to have 2 million. You only need to register 2 million baht. Even if you have no assets you can claim 2 million as your services if anyone asks, which they don't. If you don't want a work permit then you only need to register 1 million baht capital, but in order for you to have a work permit (the first one) you need at least 2 million registered capital, and 1 million extra for each additional work permit.

  8. Notice that the OP has at least twice been told to lookup the Treaty of Amity and how it can favorably impact his business setup, but he has completely ignored all of that and instead talks bout eating insects and waking up in front of MBK with receipts from gold shops.

    :o

    TH

i think i'm the third to tell him. i did my last post without reading through the whole thread first. anyway, yeah, Amity!

  9. (I know the deal with Thai owned corporations where it has to be 51% Thai owned, which is why the US company I already have set up will be taking the money and exercising the agreements with the US companies, and I will only transfer the money to purchase and ship the goods to my 49/51% Thai company which has the agreements with the Thai suppliers keeping me in control of the money)

You are a US Citizen so you can own 100% of your company in Thailand due to the Amity treaty. Americans are the only foreign nationality that has this privilege. I'd say take advantage of it.

  10. The full name of Bangkok is the longest place name in the world and recorded in the Guinness book of records, 163 letters

Krungthepmahanakhon Amornrattanakosin Mahintharayutthaya Mahadilokphop Noppharat Ratchathaniburirom Udomratchaniwetmahasathan Amonphiman Awatansathit Sakkathattiyawitsanukamprasit

    which translates into english as

The city of angels, the great city, the residence of the Emerald Buddha, the impregnable city (of Ayutthaya) of God Indra, the grand capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, abounding in an enormous Royal Palace that resembles the heavenly abode where reigns the reincarnated God, a city given by Indra and built by Vishnukarn.

  11. Expat Reverses Decision To Move Back to Britain After Spotting Hotties in Suvarnbhumi Arrivals Lounge

Before reaching taxi stand,Reading native vows never to return home again

BANGKOK - After spending two weeks assuring his friends and family that his three-week-holiday-turned-three-year-relocation to Thailand was over, Reading native James Cullen suddenly changed him mind today, only three-and-a-half minutes after landing at Suvarnbhumi Airport.

Cullen had spent the previous two weeks drinking in pubs with university mates, reconnecting with his family and enjoying chippies, curries and “lovely” English bacon again. On the last day of his trip, Cullen confided to his overjoyed parents and closest mates that he couldn’t wait to move back to England by the end of the year.

Tears brimming in his eyes, his Dad said, “About time, son.”

A former university roommate confirmed, “He told me he didn’t know what he was doing over there. We were smoking a spliff one night and he was talking about how much he missed the lads here, the football, even the weather and he was gutted he missed his sister’s wedding. ‘I am dead set on coming back,’ he told me.”

The owner of Cullen’s local, The Crow’s Nest, said he had conversed with Cullen daily and spent countless hours confirming to him that “England wasn’t that bad.”

“The night before he left, he came in here and said, ‘See you in a couple months, Roger. I’m through with that place. Time to come home. You keep that stool there for me.’”

Sixty seconds after exiting customs at Suvarnbhumi, Cullen spotted a Thai girl in an extremely short denim skirt and heels at a currency exchange counter and began doubting his decision. Three minutes later, after a sideways glance at two Thai girls in spaghetti strap tops bending over their luggage, Cullen changed his mind entirely vowing never return to Britain if it was the last place on earth. Asked why, he said, “Sweet Jesus, there are a lot of hot girls here.”

awesome site. it is like "The Onion" but based on Thailand. Wonderful. Thanks, I'm bookmarking it now.

  12. What is with all the spam lately on TV? I've seen a lot of these annoying mobile phone advertisements cluttering the forums. Do these idiots actually find people here that are ignorant enough to fall for their scams?

  13. Giradia ?

I had giradia when I was 11 years old. I had it for about a year and almost died from it. I was in the hospital every month and the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I came near to death. I had to stay in the hospital for a month on drip when they figured out what it was. Turns out I may have gotten it from bear shit in the Yuba River in California.

  14. First of all this is a great thread. For one of the first times in Thai Visa history people are contributing to a thread with very little bashing.

:o really?? :D ok, if you say so... I must have misread half this thread then... but thanks for adding humor to it.

people are contributing with their own personal experiences and genuine feelings on the subject. Constructive argument is different than bashing. There is a different tone to this thread which is refreshing.
