  1. My last few trips to Bangkok have been following hip surgery. I was walking with a cane and an obvious limp. Every time I went on the crowded AirportLink or Skytrain, some Thai person would get up and offer a seat to me.
  2. And just to note that the "acceptance" that I posted above was from the USPS.com website -- not ThailandPost.co.th
  3. Yes -- I will presume it will do just as it did same routine last year when it was tracked to Wilkes-Barre, PA.
  4. From NY Times: Ship That Launched Ill-Fated Titan Submersible Returns to Newfoundland Kathy Fox, the chairwoman of the safety board, said that family members of the five people who were inside the submersible when it was destroyed were among the 41 people on the ship when it sailed on June 18. Another official with the safety investigation body said that 17 of the people aboard belonged to the ship’s crew. The family members were among the people who were interviewed on Saturday by the safety board. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/24/world/canada/polar-prince-titan-newfoundland.html https://archive.is/TauFj
  5. My 2023 7162 was mailed registered air mail at Thai Post yesterday. The tracking number is not just in the Thai system -- it is already in the USPS system: Latest Update Your item was accepted at 9:57 am on June 24, 2023 in THAILAND. International Transit Acceptance THAILAND June 24, 2023, 9:57 am
  6. It means the days of expats getting to come on here to let others know how little they paid for a procedure at a public hospital may not long last.
  7. Doctors whom you visit at a private hospital may soon say to expats more often: If you're not willing to let me earn a reasonable amount of money for a procedure at my private hospital rather than have me do it at my public hospital where I will earn far less for the same procedure, Go somewhere else.
  8. I spent a week inpatient at a big private hospital. Plenty of older nurses along with the young pretty ones. But the hottest of them all was the girl from the cashier's office. WOW!
  9. Makro. Opens at 6 AM. My kinda place.
  10. I have a Chula trained Thai doctor at private hospital here in Thailand who has received training in USA, Japan, France, etc., but is still here in Thailand.
  11. I received my 2023 7162 from Wilkes-Barre, PA, USA, by regular mail yesterday. That's how (registered) I will send it back. Same as last year.
  12. As in the OP they are leaving the public sector. They maybe just will not much longer tell an expat: Don't do your operation at my private hospital -- come see me at the public hospital.
  13. https://www.ft.com/content/7fb3fa61-42ec-4f5b-9eda-523dfb368e1e Smith has the reputation of being ready to prosecute a case as soon as an indictment is returned, Schwendiman ( Smith’s predecessor at the Kosovo tribunal), said. “You don’t leave loose ends, you are ready to go . . . And that should shake the boots of the people that are defending Mr Trump.” And with that, I will say, at least for now, I am done responding to the 5 or 6 member tag team response to my posts on this and related topics.
  14. Well if you're sure, that settles that.
  15. Yes and unopposed by defense council. ORDER granting Unopposed Motion for Protective Order as to Donald J. Trump (1), Waltine Nauta (2). Signed by Magistrate Judge Bruce E. Reinhart Jun 19, 2023
  16. I am pretty much a home body here in Thailand -- the only time I get around is when my tropical horticulturist friend from Florida comes here and I end up going with him (translator?) to places as above "a tourist would never get to" Particularly we once spent a few days in the back area sof Queen Sirikit Garden out side Chiang Mai. This is a picture cropped o him and one of his hybrid gingers in Florida.
  17. I started doing legal research in the US Oil & Gas industry -- taxes and regulatory reporting e.g. -- in the early 1980's pre- internet when you actually had to go to a law library and use printed or floppy disk indexes and then go to the stacks or microfilm. And within the client base and their legal/accounting firms, of the computer systems firm I worked for, I did become known as a wonk knew his way through the stacks and came up with the actual data.
  18. You're welcome. I just look at the case. And the case stays the same no matter what gets posted on this website. I actually read the case docket. I have yet to see hardly anyone on here refer directly to the case docket for any of Trump's criminal or civil adventures. I voted against Trump twice although in Florida that really didn't make much difference. I would vote against him again in 2024 if he ever got the nomination but because of Patriot Act stuff I will not be able to register to vote in Florida again.
  19. From the relentless Maggie Haberman at the NY Times: Judge in Trump Documents Case Sets Tentative Trial Date as Soon as August The judge, Aileen M. Cannon, set an aggressive schedule for moving the case forward, though the proceedings are likely to be delayed by pretrial clashes. The timeline set by the judge, Aileen M. Cannon, is likely to be delayed by extensive pretrial litigation — including over how to handle classified material — and its brisk pace seems in keeping with a schedule set under the Speedy Trial Act. Brandon L. Van Grack, a former federal prosecutor who has worked on complex criminal matters involving national security, said the trial date was “unlikely to hold” considering that the process of turning over classified evidence to the defense in discovery had not yet begun. Still, he said, Judge Cannon appeared to be showing that she intended to do what she could to push the case to trial quickly. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/20/us/politics/trump-classified-documents-trial-date.html https://archive.is/hGzIv
  20. Fine. But a Discovery Order was issued at the June 13, 2023 arraignment: THE COURT : All right . And the other typical step that defense lawyers in our district take is to ask for the issuance of the standing discovery order . THE COURT :Are you making that request as well? MR BLANCHE: Yes , Your Honor. THE COURT : All right . The standing discovery order either has been uploaded or will soon be uploaded to the CM-ECF system. Standing Order typical clause (from another case): The Government shall permit the defendant(s) to inspect and copy the following items or copies thereof, or supply copies thereof, which are within the possession, custody or control of the Government, the existence of which is known or by the exercise of due diligence may become known to the Government: (my italics)
  21. From the same Reuters article linked above: Cannon's order setting a tentative Aug. 14 trial is considered standard. However, the case will need to proceed under a strict and meticulous set of rules set forth in a law known as the Classified Information Procedures Act (CIPA): a law that aims to protect classified evidence and manage how such records can be disclosed.
  22. The DOJ issued the subpoena in March and the attorneys responded mid -March. This was a June 2 CNN article and at least I have not noted that the DOJ has taken any further action.
  23. This from Jonathan Turly on Twitter: ...They (DOJ) may also have a specific document in mind, but they have not indicated that they have proof of its removal. That could be part of the case to come. However, we now know Trump's account of the audiotape. Exclusive: Trump attorneys haven’t found classified document former president referred to on tape following subpoena The sources say prosecutors made clear to Trump’s attorneys after issuing the subpoena that they specifically wanted the Iran document he talked about on tape as well as any material referencing classified information – like meeting notes, audio recordings or copies of the document – that may still be Trump’s possession. Attorneys for Donald Trump turned over material in mid-March in response to a federal subpoena related to a classified US military document described by the former president on tape in 2021 but were unable to find the document itself, two sources tell CNN. It is unclear if the government already possesses a copy of the Iran document from the boxes Trump’s legal team returned to the National Archives last year or recovered in the subsequent FBI search. https://edition.cnn.com/2023/06/02/politics/donald-trump-iran-subpoena/index.html
