  1. Before I move to Pratumnak I will move away from Pattaya. In Pratamnak there is not much infrastructure. No Baht busses. My area in Central Pattaya was a prime location until they transformed it into a red light district. And 20 years there were no problems here at this location. It was quiet like a graveyard. And open areas are a risk. I know. But in Pattaya you had so many open areas and you still have endless old buildings that will disappear. Obviously you don't know much about the development of Pattaya. Whole streets were rebuild. And one day the red light districts might disappear too at least in the city centre because the land will be too expensive for bars. But until then .... the best thing is to stay away from Pattaya. It is not a party town. It is a sex town. And wherever you go - bars, discos and many other places. You will be surrounded by "entertainers". And it gets worse every year.
  2. But when they are young they are often very pretty. There are many Russians in Pattaya too. Perhaps the only country with family tourists here. I am always surprised if I see them walking around with their kids. And I feel sorry for those trying to use a stroller here. It is often hard enough to walk alone. Too many broken or blocked sidewalks...
  3. My goodness. Something like this ends up in the news on TV... Apparently Thailand has no other problems.
  4. But you can't rebuild the lost lives. And then all the suffering. They should try to stop this war. But they only help that it can go on.
  5. This war will only end when nothing remains in the Ukraine but ruins...
  6. It is for sure not healthy. But alcohol is not healthy too. It's a toxin that affects every cell in your body. And then the nicotine and other chemicals when you smoke cigarettes.
  7. It is for sure not healthy. But normally people smoke much more cigarettes than joints. Where is this in this study?!
  8. The new lucky number is 06426 ????????????. Regarding overstay. 38 days until now. How many more days did he want to collect? Blame immigration? In the end these people create problems and not the immigration. I don't think that the maximum fine of 20.000 Baht will cover the cost to find them and to get rid of them.
  9. That appears to be the case now that the bubbles are considered too big to fail. The USA in particular seems to be dominated to a certain extent by the stock markets. And the Euro zone by the countries with the biggest debts.
  10. That the army is against the night life is a big myth. The government before the military government wanted to get rid of the sex businesses and reduced the opening times. And then came the military government and one of the first thing they did was the extension of the opening times. And endless new so called entertainment venues were created. Look in Pattaya at LK Metro, Tree Town, Soi Buakhao. And raids - they are always shown in the media. But I remember a big bar in Tree Town when closing time was midnight because of Covid. Extremely noisy live concerts every night until 3 am. Now the closing time is 2 and again live concerts every night until 3 am. Impossible that the police does not hear this...
  11. No problems at Bangkok Bank and Krungsri. At Krungsri it didn't work at the beginning. I complained at the manager and they refunded me the tax payments. Since the refund came from Krungsri I got it later refunded by the revenue department again. I didn't complain ????
  12. When you open an account here at a Bangkok Bank branch you have two options. Bring a Residence Certificate or buy an accident insurance at this branch. I have always thought this offer is strange. But perhaps it is not a bad idea.
  13. This is shocking ????. That means if someone hits me with a car or bike, I could end up with a financial nightmare. But you may be able to get compensation from the driver IF he has money. Will make sure only luxury cars hit me ????.
  14. I had no problems. But I had to fill out a questionnaire. Questions were for instance how I finance my life here and if I get a pension. But I needed the tax ID some years later anyway. My European bank insisted on it after very many years.
  15. @CMBob gave you the answer already. In respect of the 3 years I remember that my bank couldn't provide the data for 3 years. But anyhow. To avoid this in the future give your tax id to the bank.
  16. More than overdue for them to do the same in Thailand. Too many bar stools are blocked by Cheap Charlies. Do not kill me. I was only kidding. But it can happen at any time.
  17. Before it was 4 in the Walking Street and 2 for the other entertainment areas. But in the end nobody cared much. And even now with the media reports of police checks and raids many don't care. Obviously not even the police ????????????. At least this is how I experience it in Central Pattaya every night. And it is very annoying that nothing is done.
  18. You don't understand that such noisy entertainment businesses can open next to you AFTER you bought your condo... Look at Tree Town in Pattaya. A vacant area for very many years in the centre of Pattaya City surrounded by hotels and condominiums. And then they build Tree Town. In the end nothing more than an extremely noisy red light district. And there are many other examples like this. Perhaps it is different in Bangkok. But here in Pattaya there are better ways to get rid of your money than buying a condo.
  19. There is no zoning and every owner of a bar or at least a speaker can do whatever he wants here. And most of the time, they do. If you're thinking about buying a property here, think twice. There is no guarantee that your area will be/stay quiet.
  20. I lived south of San Francisco for a while. A beautiful area with great weather most of the year. But I never got used to the feeling that an earthquake could strike at any time. There were many tiny earthquakes. Then you could hear things in the cupboard or on the wall shaking. The "funny" thing was years after I left California, I experienced a major earthquake in the Philippines. I was using my notebook when it happened. I immediately turned it off to protect the hard drive and ran with it into the smallest room - the bathroom. And the worst thing was that you had to wait for aftershocks afterwards.
  21. Great decision. And you always read that the police in Pattaya checks that the 2 o'clock closing time is observed and that they make raids. The reality in Central Pattaya is that for instance at Tree Town a bigger bar makes live concerts every night at least until 3 am. And this at a volume that the police station at the beach road for sure can hear it. And I didn't check how many other bars were still open. I think in the media we get the impression that much is done. But in reality it seems to be business as usual and nobody cares. Otherwise such extremely noisy open air concerts cannot happen every night even after the legal closing time. And this also clearly shows that the entertainment venues have no fear. Otherwise they wouldn't create such noise.
  22. These sellers don't have the items. When you order they order and send it to you. Not much risk for them. Honestly - I would do the same ????????????????
  23. They never asked me. Neither 1337 nor the police. Of course they see the phone number. But I never had a problem. If you live here more than 2 decades you need them sometimes.
  24. Yes. City Hall 1337 and then 9 for English. Available 24 hours every day. Or the police station in your area. Better and quicker results but not always English speaking people there: Banglamung Station 038 221 331 Pattaya Police Station 038 420 802 to 5 Jomtien Police Station 038 232 330
