Fees for cardless withdrawal coming
Everyman replied to digbeth's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Can confirm BBL account holders are charged 10 baht to use KBANK, so it’s reciprocal. Too bad, I will have to revise my method where take out funds in 400 baht increments or stick to BBL ATMs again. -
I make about a hundred withdrawals per month using cardless withdrawal, so the number of ATMs available for this is the most important feature of a bank for me. That Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn Bank account holders can now both use the same ATMs for this effectively doubles the number ATMs for each bank. So it’s between those two. I have an account with Bangkok Bank and I am satisfied with them, except for the inability to pay provincial electricity authority (PEA) bills from the app. I haven’t had a KBANK account for many years, but they seem very popular and can pay PEA bills. So I’m going to say KBANK.

Tax Return 2025
Everyman replied to John Phuket's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I am visiting Vietnam and there are many recent former Thailand expats here. There are many nomads and retirees and nobody is concerned about any tax laws. -

Okay, so in a year when nothing like that has happened will this topic finally be put to bed or will there will be some new enforcement prediction to replace it? -
Tax Return 2025

People have a distorted perception of the TRDs capabilities and interest in their affairs. Not that I have any special knowledge about TRD, but I just find claims about the TRD knowing everyone’s global financial information and having the manpower and interest in going after retirees with meager pensions for not filing a form, to be unrealistic.- 247 replies

If immigration starts requiring a tax return next year I will eat my shoes. But when nothing happens on January 1st, then everyone will say “oh just wait until the end of March.” then nothing will happen then. then they will say “end of the year.” nothing will happen then either. -
Many rental listings are nonexistent
Everyman replied to Searat7's topic in Thailand Accommodation Finding Forum
This reminds of another annoying problem where listings show nearby beaches or bridges or buildings. Anything except the inside of the room. -

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime was released in 2016. You shouldn’t expect it to still work. Time to get a new phone. -

ATM fees or Pay tax
Everyman replied to EVENKEEL's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Well then we will leave, or schedule our time to be outside Thailand most of the year. It’s not rocket surgery. If somehow farangs are made to pay, they will look at which is cheaper - leaving or staying. Most will leave. I certainly have no intention of paying anything. Thailand has changed immensely in the last 20 years and not in a good way. I’m happy to put it behind me. Good timing I guess. But this is a country that can’t stop people driving on sidewalks. The tax thing will go nowhere. -

The TIN was his American social security number to comply with US FACTA laws. Nobody else has been asked for a THAI Thai ID. Everyone keeps waiting for these enforcement milestones and then nothing happens. So they say oh, it will begin at the next milestone. And then nothing happens. In five years people will still be banging on about it and nothing will have happened.
