  1. You know.... If only I were that good, that I could improve this site's rankings on Google search.... Then, I might just get a heck of a lot more respect that I get, around here. I would gladly help to increase ThaiVisa's rankings, if only I knew how.... Because, certainly, I have already put in the effort....as..... Almost anyone can plainly see. And, it's not for want of trying, that I have failed...thus far...
  2. Unfortunately, I must agree with you. Your writing leaves nothing to the imagination. If you could write like Philip Roth, then....I would defer to your praise for your writing. Unfortunately, once again, you do not write paragraphs anywhere near as beautiful as his. Such is the pity....because.... If you wrote like Roth, then....maybe..... ThaiVisa Forum would soon become even more justifiably famous than..... It already is. Get back to me when you have perfected your art up to the level of a Roth..... Waiting.....
  3. Why should I...if the NOTE4 is the best Samsung phone that ever existed?
  4. What you consider to be obvious, I do not. Anyway, I have been a long-time admirer of Henry Fielding, ever since I first read Tom Jones. And, I have been thinking of adopting Fielding's writing style, one which I perfected many years ago, for my future postings. Fielding is considered to be one of the greatest writers of all time. I do a very mean Henry Fielding.... Henceforth, I may adopt this style of writing, with minor modifications, just to personalize it and make it my own. So, please stay tuned..... This IS the Pub, you know. If you want academic writing, then you have probably come to the wrong place.....for that.....maybe.....
  5. It's not that I do not respect others on this forum, that I am not able to write good. Respect has nothing to do with it. Also, I have made many efforts, over the years, to meet the standards most readers might find acceptable. I am not here to "challenge" others, in fact. And, as well, I do not enjoy being challenged, myself, in such a direct way. Still, for those who post here, I would caution them that they are bound be be challenged, from time to time. Do you not agree?
  6. Here is CHATGPT's rendition of my Original Topic.... If you prefer this style of writing..... Then I would be rather surprised.... But, then, it takes all kinds.....(of readers)... To make this world go round.... "Dear Esteemed Friends, The recent tragedy that has befallen so many around the world is undeniably overwhelming. Why does it resonate so profoundly? Perhaps the profound sorrow stems, in part, from the youthfulness of the victims, and the unfathomable randomness of the event. There is also the poignant fact that these young individuals were simply pursuing their dreams, embarking on their first adventure in a foreign land. When approached with meticulous care and thoughtful planning, one's initial experience abroad should serve as an invaluable opportunity for personal growth and cultural enrichment. Such experiences, when undertaken in earnest, offer unparalleled prospects for maturation and understanding. In my considered opinion, one of the most exemplary ways for young individuals to gain meaningful exposure to life abroad is through programs such as HomeStay Japan. By participating in such structured, culturally immersive initiatives, young people can acquire profound insights into foreign cultures while simultaneously enhancing their resumes or curricula vitae. This is a far cry from the fleeting escapism offered by unstructured adventures, such as those spent in places like JaiDee's, though I offer this comparison with all due humility. I would therefore strongly encourage parents whose children are eager to experience life in another country to seriously contemplate the HomeStay option—an arrangement typically characterized by high levels of supervision and care. Many of these programs also offer language training, which can be an additional advantage in fostering both linguistic and personal growth." NOTE4: I plan NOT to upload more garbage from ChatGPT....in the future. I was only replying to this comment, this SINGLE TIME....
  7. I prefer my own writing style. Also, most people here, do prefer my writing style, too. I can easily change my writing style. But my present writing style suits me, these days. Maybe in the near future, I will change......providing.... I get much more feedback, similar to yours. Thank you.
  8. My advice: Do NOT take psychotropic drugs, of any kind, ever..... Or, at least, don't take them for more than a few days, should some sudden catastrophic event overtake one..... Otherwise, you might end up like..... This guy: Drug companies do not reveal to users just how much is still unknown about psychotropic drugs. Many of the drug trials conducted by drug companies are not transparent. Drug companies are now policing themselves. Also, they do not tell you, when they state that a drug might be efficacious, whether or not the benefits of taking such drugs might be just minimal, at best. These drugs can change, radically, the brain chemistry. And, who is to say how easy it might be to "get back to normal", if one were to stop taking these drugs. I would never take these kinds of drugs. In addition, the doctors that prescribe these drugs ALSO do not know how they work. They only know the biased recommendations by the drug companies that manufacture these drugs. 100 years ago, before the advent of such drugs, our world was no crazier than it is now. Of course, for those with disorders such as schizophrenia.....then MAYBE some form of drug therapy is warranted. Still, even for disorders such as this, exactly how beneficial these anti-psychotic drugs might be is questionable, since most of the trials are conducted by the manufacturers, themselves, instead of being tested by a third unbiased party.
  9. Still, even though it might be babbling..... The advice I have provided in this Topic is very sound advice. I know it is. (Not everything I write in the Pub is a joke, contrary to popular opinion.)
  10. OK. Thank you for your feedback. IF I know that such places actually EXIST...then.... I will continue to search. Sometimes, I believe, it is the belief that decent places might not actually exist, which prevents us from keeping-up our search.... And we just give up, after finding something half-satisfactory. Tks! I now realize that I MUST move. I called the local power company...and... Apparently, they do not anticipate any electric-power supply improvement in my immediate area. Therefore, IF this is really the case..then.... It's just a question of either installing some major whole-house backup system...or moving....or....just continuing to endure the totally unacceptable....for the remaining years one intends to be alive in Thailand. Best choice...I think....is to keep searching for a place that offers a stable electrical-power supply, and quiet, too, and for a reasonable rental cost.
  11. I will never put you on ignore because.... You are ALWAYS respectful...for sure. But, I just wish that people would try to be a bit more evidence-based in their formation of opinions, than they sometimes seem to be. I would not mind opinions, so much, if they were supported by evidence. Nobody can object to opinions which are supported by vetted data....even though, sometimes...this data is proved mistaken...after further review.
  12. Please send me the address. (Not joking. Because...IF it's quiet, and IF the electric power is stable...then....SERIOUSLY....I may need to move....even though I like my present area. I need a place with stable power, and quiet...and safety/security. I just don't understand how you can get a 3-bedroom that cheaply....) Tks. ( I would not be able to leave this place for about another 6 months....)
  13. Maybe next year. My last Thanksgiving Dinner was back in 1974, and home-cooked. Since then, most of my family members have gradually died off, over the years. Maybe this is why I have been reluctant to try to duplicate the ThanksGiving Vibes for myself, alone, in Thailand. Anyway, I already feel great thanksgiving....just BEING in Thailand.... Why would I need a separate dinner just to celebrate what I celebrate almost every day? Also, without the cold weather of back home, a stuffed turkey just doesn't taste the same. One thing we always had at our Thanksgiving Table was plenty of candlelight and a roaring fire in the living room, adjacent to the dining room. This was always a big part of our celebration. Not sure how many restaurants in Thailand can offer a roaring fire. Also, I used to make a fruitcake once a year, with plenty of brandy. I will miss that, as well. So, maybe next year, when I have time to plan a bit more. Then, I will find the right restaurant in CM for me.... One with a roaring fire and plenty of candlelight at table.
  14. Dear Friends, This recent tragedy is rather overwhelming to so many around the world. Why? Maybe it's partially due to the victims' youth, and also the randomness of the tragedy. And, also, the fact that these young people were just following their dream to enjoy a first experience in a foreign land. If done right, and with proper planning, one's first experience abroad should be an experience that can be invaluable for future growth.... Etc., etc., etc.... In my view, one of the best ways to obtain one's first experience living in a foreign land might be to take advantage of programs such as HomeStay Japan. Through participation in these types of programs, children and young adults can learn much about the world, and these programs can even become a plus on one's resume or CV..... Unlike...perhaps....time spent at places like JaiDee's, ....and this is just my humble opinion. Therefore, I would urge parents whose children are seeking an experience abroad to consider HomeStay, a program which is usually highly supervised. Foreign-language training is often offered, and this can be a plus. Living with a family in countries such as Japan offers additional advantages that one cannot get through tipsy-tubing down some unsupervised river in Lao, too. When I was younger, I lived with several families in Japan and Taiwan. The friends I met while living with these families are still my friends, today. If one is interested in learning about a "foreign culture", then there is probably no better setting for doing just that. If I had a daughter, under age 25, I would encourage her to do what I did at that age. I just wonder why more parents do not consider the advantages of HomeStay, as an alternative to other ways of spending College-Gap years, or even just a three-month vacation abroad. For sure, HomeStay is far safer. Most Japanese families grow to care about their young guests almost as much as they do about their own children. Japan is one of the safest countries one can visit. And, in my view, Japanese culture is one that promotes safety and security, almost above everything else. If I were to entrust my daughter to a family, then I would guess that I would choose a Japanese family. And, it is often the case that these Japanese families do not accept a young person into their homes just for money. Cultural exchange is much more important, and some families will spend much more on their guests than they receive. Therefore, I just wonder: Why don't more families who have children wishing to go abroad not consider this HomeStay option? Doesn't make much sense to me. Is it that they have not considered the advantages? Or, might they not be aware that there are many programs of this nature that exist? What are the best HomeStay programs in Japan....anyway? It would be best to find a program which is run by the Japan gov....no doubt. Who knows if these might be good: https://homestay-in-japan.com/ https://homestayinjapan.com/ For a young person making a first trip abroad, I would think that Japan can not be beat. And, when I was doing homestay, the family gave me O-Sake, once a night, and it was a pleasurable experience, with the entire family sitting around on tatami. I wish I were young enough to do it again....in fact. Best regards, Gamma
  15. There is a video of one of the girls riding on the back of a motorbike...being taken to the hospital..at about 1AM, on the 13th. At that time, she was able to sit up by herself on the back of the bike.
  16. Be that as it maybe be... These young people really could not be expected to know that much about methanol poisoning. If one has lived in the area for a long time, then one might likely have read periodic news reporting about methanol poisonings. For sure, this is a terrible tragedy...if for no other reason than the fact that these young people went, in a split second, from a carefree life of hope and happiness, to complete and utter devastation. One might also consider if it might be true that very-young people, such as these teens, should not be given some sort of formal education concerning hazards of travel abroad before being granted a passport.
  17. I would not want to use the powder rooms for the girls. However, I don't have much objection to the girls using the men't toilets. It just wouldn't bother me all that much. In the past, once or twice, I have mistakenly walked into the women's facilities. That was just too embarrassing, and so now I double check before entering washrooms.
  18. Rubberwood doors...as I posted in the DIY forum, not too long ago. I use these as computer tables. Similar to what is pictured in this Topic. Rubberwood works well. Available from local door and plywood suppliers. I always buy the largest size doors. I am using 5 of them, at the moment. (Sorry, I meant 6. I am using 6 of them at the moment.)
  19. This is true. This is a problem. This is why I have a swivel chair. One with wheels. BUT: A 27 inch screen is measured diagonally. So, not a full 27 inches horizontally. ALSO. The left and right screen are angled, which further reduces the total lateral distance of three screens. Still, you are correct. This can cause neck strain if one is not careful. Move your entire body, not just your head....
  20. I would agree, except that let's not confuse knowledge and intelligence. Using narrow screens might not cause diminished intelligence, just idiocy.
  21. Riding a motorcycle in Thailand is a known dangerous behavior. Therefore, if he were riding a motorcycle in Thailand, then... He would be culpable and responsible and irresponsible, and therefore not worthy of sympathy or financial support.
  22. I told you he was a Geek. However, credit where credit is due...because.... His analysis is usually quite sound. He was right about the Word_Salad Woman, for example. Also, he is a HUGE fan of irony. The shirts he wears are a joke. And, he enjoys his own brand of humor. Some viewers enjoy his dry humor, but it's not for everyone. Still, he can't be worse than Tyson, and probably much better.
  23. Strangely enough: When I was young, I once thought that Remarque was a girl...just based on her middle name, Maria. Now, though, I wonder if Remarque might have been a LadyBoy. What do you think? But I do not care much about gender, as long as it can write well. And, what is one to make of "orchid"? Is that a man's name, too?
  24. What school was that? What kind of Latin Master was that? I mean, if it were Latin, I would have said: I recall our old and wise Latin Master informing us bright.....etc.... But, I guess... I am no Master of Much.
  25. You might say you do not care. But, if you do not teach your children well..... Then.... You will obviously get this: Praise God! Praise the Lord!
