Dear Friends, Here in this Thai climate, one which saps the energy of most newly-arrived Farang, who is not always on the lookout for some cheaper-better method of cooling our homes? I had always thought that Solid-State Cooling was not for me. However, after viewing this vid, I am now getting excited about making my next AC-Purchase.... Hydrofluorocarbon-Free. Of course, being the eternal optimist that I am, I plan to live another 50 years, by my conservative estimate. Soon, I hope to have a noiseless AC solution. I hate noise of all varieties. So, will you, like me... Wait until this upcoming tech becomes cheap enough and advanced enough... Before buying your next Home-Cooling Solution? Sorry, but I cannot advise you. You are the ones who must make your own cooling choices. Here is just one vid that might shed light on this important issue: You know... It's simply amazing how our world just keeps getting...better.... And better. Best regards, and Happy Coolling. Gamma

Now that John has died, and since I have already read John's books, and with relish.... Here is John, in the flesh: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/02/books/john-barth-dead.html John was at Penn State for awhile. Penn State is definitely NOT another U. of PENN. Still, John was an amazing writer. His photo does not do his writing justice, IMHO....

Too handsome. You flatter me, Sir. In fact, when, in my callow youth, I read many a famous author, I was always careful to never expose myself to the author's photo on the inside cover flap. In order to avoid doing so, I would, upon purchasing the book, close my eyes... And remove the book cover. Even to this day, I have no idea what John Barth looks like. I loved reading End of the Road, and Giles Goat Boy, when I was young. Why would I have spoiled the experience by viewing an image of the author....anyway?

Dear Friends, I last saw my Chinese wife in 1980, in Hong Kong. Last week, my wife sent me an email, stating that she wishes to come visit me in Thailand. She has been living in the USA for most of the time since we last saw each other. When I last saw her, she was slim and trim....and super HOT. But now, I worry that she might not be just as she was when we last parted. She is very intelligent. But I don't care that much about her being smart, anymore. The reason is that there are just too many girls here in Thailand who are not smart, but super good looking, instead. And, since I do not care about the hot-young-Thai girls....then why should I care about my old-Chinese wife? When I was younger, I cared more about smart girls. Now that I am older, I only care about more superficial skin-deep traits. I have always preferred younger Thai girls, even though I have never actually had one. If I WANTED a companion, I would choose one of the younger girls, maybe around 24. Why should I now risk getting re-involved with my Kowloon wife? On the other hand, we shared many good times together when we were young. Does anyone here have any experience hooking up with an old wife, after a 40-year hiatus? Were you able to get back in the swing of things, fairly easily? If you wish, I will upload some photos of my wife, 40 years ago. She was definitely....nice. Also, I think she might still have a lot of money. So, considering the money, would it be worth it to allow her to come to visit me? Now that she is older, she may have changed. I may be able to tolerate her more easily. Mostly, the reason for this Topic is that I need advice concerning whether her money might be worth becoming re-involved with her. I am thinking that...as I continue to age.... It might be sort of like having a Golden-Parachute, having her around, In my old age. I would no longer need to worry about dying alone, either. If you had seen her 40 years ago....then....the answer would be a no-brainer. I just mean, that if you saw her, most of you guys would pay USD1000.00 per hour to be with her. Yet now that she is old..... I doubt you guys would pay that much. So, just on a cost/benefit basis.... Should I reply to her email to me, and acquiesce...should she ask to see me, and board the next flight from San Francisco to Chiang Mai? What would you do? Note: This is the wife that, due to my services, was able to first get a Green Card, and then her USA citizenship. And now, I am a bit suspicious why she wants to see me again, now that she no longer needs a Green Card.

Dear Folks, Jeff was better than Jimi. Therefore, what was it about Jeff that hindered him from truly understanding his true greatness, while he was alive, even though he was greater than Jimi? Was it Jeff's humility? Jeff was not especially humble, and also not proud. He was just right. Therefore, why was Jeff so in awe of Jimi, when Jeff could play rings around Jimi, anytime he wanted to. Was it Jeff's lower-class roots? Not being able to afford a guitar when he was young, which caused him to misconceive his own greatness, relative to the far-inferior Jimi? What is a Jimi, anyway? A jimi, or Jimmies, just like a Hendrix, looks sort of like these.... Or, these.... Except that Jimi was more of a chocolate color. So, the question begs.... Why did Jeff, of the Yardbirds, see himself as any less, and not greater, even, compared to Hendrix? I guess you might scratch your head, even wondering about this.....important question.... Jeff was just better. Jeff was amazing. So then... Why, Oh Why, did Jeff not know this, down deep in his soul? I really wish he had. Jeff was the greatest guitarist that ever lived. Fortunately, we still have this great recording at Ronnie Scott's by which to remember him: And, anybody who is anybody.... Has the full recording, of the full show, as do I. Beck was just BETTER than Jimi. Sometimes guys who try harder, just end up playing better..... And, this is why, even rental-car companies...end up doing better....when... They think they are No.2. I just hope that Jeff Beck will ALWAYS be remembered for being.... Number One. Best regards, Gamma Note: The YouTube videos of the Jeff Beck performance at Ronnie Scott's are garbage. If you want it, you will need to search for it....might take some time....

Your kind words of approbation are so very encouraging to me. Thank you. If it were not for reader-response, such as yours,..... I might well give up and stop writing, altogether. And then.... Where would this forum be; I ask you..... Read more Conrad, is my best advice to you...if.... You want to enjoy the rest of your life..... Take care. Note: No need to thank you, of course.

Dear Folks, Have you ever wondered why we end up, washed up, and washed ashore, in these foreign lands? Maybe it's not the same for you as it is for me. If you really want to know, as Holden Caulfield once opined, why we end up here in these faraway lands, I can only share with you my own personal reasons and motivation for being here in Thailand. When I was a mere 13, I began reading Joseph Conrad, an author who wrote about one white man an many natives in foreign lands. He also wrote about typhoons, and great evil. I became enthralled by the possibility of experiencing fantastic adventures in exotic lands, replete with inhabitants of darker shades. In fact, I read, and re-read, so much of Joseph Conrad that...now.... Here I am. After first cracking my first Conrad, my fate became..... nothing more than a fete accompli. I even went to sea, just to see what that might be like, and to see what I could see. In my case, I now know that I was meant to be here where I am; and this was my destiny, beginning the moment I read the first word of one of Conrad's stories. I am only saying that I do know why I am here. But, what is your excuse? Also, what is your favorite Conrad story? I never much liked Heart of Darkness. I think one of my favorite stores of his was Typhoon. I have even seen quite a few typhoons in my life. But they have only very rarely measured up to Conrad's description of them. By the way, I guess most know that Conrad was not considered to be a native-English writer. Given this, how beautifully did he write!!!! You can read the full novella on Gutenberg, if you have a mind to..... Here: https://www.gutenberg.org/files/1142/1142-h/1142-h.htm I have always loved Asia for just being Asia. And you? If you do not feel the same.... Then why are you here, anyway??? For the Farang Condo Compounds??? Those are not for me. Wish I could return to Conrad's world. In my dreams. Best regards, Gamma Note4: Is it Sunday?

Dear Friends, I have recently been feeling a bit .... Down in the Dumps, since the Trump election. And, maybe I need something to spice up my life...before I might head out to Malaya....to begin my new life. Many people have said that they would go abroad, and leave the country, if Trump were elected. Therefore, I think I am not out of the ordinary. But I want to go FURTHER. Although I had never voiced my plans on TV until now, provided Trump was elected, .... Now, I want to share my private promise. In my mind, back around July 25th, I made a pact with myself that.... IF Trump were elected, then I would.... a. Leave the country. b. Get a sex change. So my only question to you now is.... a. Should I have my sex change in Malaya? b. Or, should I have myself relieved of my manhood here in Thailand....like so many of you have, before....when....your GFs have relieved you of yours? ============ Also.... I have lived all of my life as a man. Yet, I have always wondered what it might be like to be a woman. Have you ever felt this way? Not knowing if the grass might be greener on.... The Other Side? The Far Side, so to speak? ========== Also, do you think there might be any major pain involved, for me, when I undergo this type of procedure... Having my privates re-invented? Sure, it sounds icky....but.... Think of the benefits.....!!!!! =============== In case you want to know..... When I finally get to Malaya..... And after my new MAKEOVER..... Here is what I hope to look like: So then.... Do you think the pain will be worth the change, and my NEW LOOK? I remain very optimistic. Also, I have insurance to cover this changeover... So, I am not worried about not being able to pay for this, upfront. After seven decades of being a boy, Now, I hope to try life as a girl. Not a hot girl, but just a girl. Speaking of me in the near future: This he will soon be a she. Looking forward to this journey into my new reality. Best regards, Gamma Note: What do you think?
