  1. You mean that you think that a scale cannot be a motivating and reinforcing factor in weight loss? I do not know. I have no knowledge or experience. I have never tried to lose weight before. So this is a new endeavor for me. I just realized that now it is more difficult to tie my shoes, and to move around effortlessly, as I once did when I weighed less.
  2. I do not doubt you, but this is not the same environment in which I live. I am just lucky, I guess. Sorry that you must deal with what you describe, however....
  3. Thank the Lord, I now have a wonderful neighbor. Such a godsend. Some old lady that is very friendly and kind and quiet. I could not ask for more!
  4. Do you have any intentions to reform yourself in 2024? Do you have the will? Personally, I intend to become more motivated in order to become less slothful. Also, I might give up celibacy, if I find an excuse. What are your intentions in 2024? Regards, Gamma
  5. You may be correct. But, after watching UTUBE, this now seems difficult to believe...sorry to say.
  6. Hi Folks, I need to lose about 20 pounds. How many stone, I do not know. But, about 8 kilos will do. So, do you think that having a scale helps one to lose body weight? I have never owned a scale, because I never thought I needed one. Years ago, when I was in rowing trim, I weighed about 175 pounds, mostly muscle. Now, I am quite flabby by comparison. I don't know my weight, but I think it might be about 90 to 95 kilos, and much of it is not required by me. a. So, from your experience, does having a scale at home help with weight loss? b. What is the best scale, from your experience, available on Lazada? Here are two scales I saw on WIRECUTTER....but I doubt they are on Lazada. I like a thin scale so that I will not fall off it so easily. And, large numerals, might be good. I might even like the scale to show Roman Numerals, just to keep my brain active in the mornings. Also, I would like a scale that does not need batteries, but uses a photocell, or maybe just generates power using my body weight every time I step on it. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/the-best-bathroom-scales/ I might like to order one on New Years Eve...in fact. Regards, Gamma
  7. For me, livable means no riff-raff in sight in most places. Pristine environment. No police in sight making drug busts. Shared values with me. Etc.... Thailand, at least for me, is all of these. New Hampshire, in the distant past, was this, as well.
  8. What about New Hampshire, then? Is New Hampshire still livable?
  9. You mean chronological age, or mental age?
  10. She certainly looks like she has been through the wringer. And, the washing machine, plus the dryer, as well. Yet, she does not look clean enough for that, I guess. Personally, I think she might do better in China. Maybe the taxpayers in the US should pay for a one-way ticket. There must be work for her there, given her many talents, as well as her sartorial sense.
  11. This is really no laughing matter. As one ages, the smell of fear rears its ugly head in the weirdest ways. These days, what are your newfound fears? Your greatest worries, now that you are at a certain age? Besides your fear of death, in case you might have such a fear, which I do not, what are the things your fear most, hierarchically speaking? Fear can be debilitating, as well. How do you cope with your fears. Do you practice denial, for example? What are your best strategies to continue to move forward when anxiety pulls you back? So, ranked top to bottom, your fears are? Even OJ Simpson was not immune to fear, one presumes.... Ganmna
  12. If you want safe, then move to Japan. I am always extremely careful when walking anywhere outside my front gate. I have never operated any kind of vehicle in Thailand. For that, I just use my same driver, and never even use Grab because I cannot predict the driving skill of Grab. I am lucky to have used the same driver for about 7 years, and so I rarely need to postpone an excursion due to my driver being too busy for me. It's probably unwise to get drunk and walk at night, simultaneously. Maybe get one of those hats with a reflective coating would be useful. Anyway, I only worry about getting hit by a car when I am outside my house.
  13. Yes. Beautiful area. Enjoyed the videos. But, what are those on the sand? Beanbag chairs? First I have seen this. They never use these in East Lyme, CT.
  14. I used to have a chromium plated model 1911. But that was just a popgun compared to my .357 magnum, or my Weatherby .460 magnum wild buffalo gun. The finish on the Weatherby stock was to die for.
  15. Maybe, also, this is the result of defunding the State Mental Institutions in the USA?
  16. People vote, yes. However, are there choices to vote for? Or, are all choices offered basically just the same single choice?
  17. This is about the most shocking thing I have seen in my lifetime. How long can it last without a major backlash, I wonder? This seems even worse than the Great Depression years. If this is true, then I will never return to the US, obviously. Even if one has a nice home, how can one enjoy life when this tragedy is all about one? Really, this entire situation seems so unbelievable, even though, apparently, true.
  18. The only barrier standing in my way is lack of sufficient funding.
  19. As I recall, anytime I travelled from the USA to China, I would immediately contract a very severe "cold", but rarely the flu. Must have something to do with immune system being used to bugs in America that might be different to bugs in China, including the Palmetto Bug. Anytime I travel to China, I always expect a severe cold that lasts for over two weeks. Here in Thailand, I have not had a cold since October of 2019. Sometimes, though, I get a backache, or similar.
  20. Again.... Recall that I already mentioned Vitamin C Pauling, and, also, the fallacy of Pauling's thinking. Just one chemist, Pauling, to another, is all that I was saying.
  21. Hope you are not planning on leaving, any time soon. Remain positive. Anyway, as for me.... Give me life in Thailand, or... Give me death anywhere else.
  22. Well, if airport squatting continues to climb, then toilets are a must. Also, what about setting up soup kitchens so that you can get a free meal with your boarding card? And, showers to minimize the stench of the situation?
  23. Google UTUBE often dishes up homeless videos, but is the problem as pervasive and serious at is portrayed in these videos? I have not returned to the US since 1990. The UTUBE videos must be an exaggeration I think to myself? What is your experience traveling in the USA? Are things as dire as we, those who live in Asia, are led to believe? Does the sight of homelessness bother you? Or, are you fairly impervious to the plight of these vagabonds? This woman says that she is both human and homeless. But, true? (And, she says that she has a bun in the oven, and so maybe she is not just one, but two.) Here is a videographer who enjoys shooting the homeless. Is he telling the truth? Why does the US Gov ALLOW such things to happen? Don't the US citizens ever get tired of this trash? How can they look beyond it, and how are they able to enjoy their lives, if they must step over this all the time? Just sign me... Perplexed in Thailand, Gamma
  24. Seems that way. At least there are toilets in the airports, presumably.
