  1. There is now no real need for anyone to work who doesn't want to. Might as well just give everyone a guaranteed income, something Bucky suggested decades ago. I am still in love with Buckminster Fuller and his Buckyballs, anyway.
  2. So then... This will obviously be an important point that will show up in the NTSB Investigation Report. Makes no sense to use a black-box which does not have battery backup.
  3. Obviously, if there was not internal battery backup, and IF this was due to a choice by the Korean airline, then there is fault on the Korean side, for this issue. However, obviously, if the Boeing company, or it's black-box supplier Honeywell, failed to provide an internal battery backup power supply, then this is just a matter of stupidity and negligence and poor design. There is no reason why a black-box should not be equipped with a backup battery power supply. Note: Also, these black boxes should be installed in such a way that they cannot be deactivated by the crew of the aircraft. Some configurations allow the pilot to deactivate the voice recorder under some situations. Or, it is possible to deactivate if a circuit breaker is pulled. (But these are design flaws. The black-box should record under all circumstances...if in the air, or also if taxiing. And it should continue to operate even if disconnected from the aircraft power supply.)
  4. Feel free to ride. It's a free world we live in (except for N. Korea, and also S. Korea, in some respects)....so...YOU ride on korean airlines...and we will watch from the ground.
  5. WHY, seemingly, was JEJU Air comfortable flying aircraft with Honeywell black boxes that may have not been equipped with internal power supply which could operate and not be dependent upon aircraft power, in case of power failure. This was another bad choice of the Korean Airline. This is another reason why I will not fly any Korean airlines. Another thing. Koreans are super sensitive to loss of face. So, best not to allow the Koreans to take possession of the black box after a crash such as this. Black box must immediately be given into the possession of a reliable third party, such as NTSB.
  6. North? or South Koreans? The two are basically exactly the same. One thing though, I will not be flying to either N. or S. Korea aboard a Korean airline flight.
  7. Yes. This is my point. The Go-Around was a HUGE error. Since, as you say, gear already down. I doubt this was a airline procedure that forced the go-around. If it is, then just another Korean blunder, in addition to the BERM issue.
  8. There was blackbox data. Due to loss of power, etc, the recording ended before the crash. Also, there was other data which was sent directly to the ground, which is recorded and available. However, this data transmission also ENDED just after the plane began its GO-AROUND. Also, the black-box should have been given directly to NTSB. No need to allow the Koreans to fool with it first. Just give it to the NTSB from the beginning. Handing it off to the Koreans, first, was just a waste of time. Also, the Koreans might have damaged or tampered with the data, and so giving it to the Koreans first was not a secure way to protect the black-box or the data recorded by it. The box should have been given directly to a reliable third party, in this case, the NTSB.
  9. With those two pilots....I am just glad that I was NOT in the cockpit. Much more will be said by NTSB. I look forward to their report.
  10. With those two pilots....I am just glad that I was NOT in the cockpit. Much more will be said by NTSB. I look forward to their report. The Koreans couldn't even extract the BLACKBOX data by themselves. Had to send it to the USA.
  11. There was NO NEED to execute a go-round AFTER the bird strike. The aircraft should have proceeded to land at the runway which had already been set up. After the bird strike, the pilot called GO-ROUND. He caused great loss of life in this one decision. If he had not executed go-round, the landing gear could have been extended, flaps down, and a safe landing, with plenty of time to bleed off energy before hitting berm. If there had been no go-round, then the landing would have been completely uneventful. Just because a pilot has 7000 hours of flight experience, does NOT mean that he has been sufficiently trained for various emergency events. Therefore PILOT ERROR. And, of course RUNWAY ERROR with that crazy BERM in the middle of the safety area, What should happen is that there should be a highly qualified committee to authorize use of international runways, and require changes made in unsafe design, where required. If you let the Koreans run their own runway design without international oversight, then this is what happens.
  12. a. Re Pressure-Cooker Chicken Breast b. By the way, We Chinese have been using steamers or poaching chicken breast for thousands of years. c. Please note that NOT all Chicken Breasts are created equal. The ones I bought at the store I visited are best consumed by canines. d. I have purchased chicken breasts and whole chickens from local markets here, and they are quite edible, and tender.
  13. Sorry. Next time, I will say what I mean.
  14. From the beginning of recorded history in Thailand, there has never been a Thai home that was sealed tight. And, until very recently, insulation was also unknown. What....? Me worry?
  15. Cooking is done outside. Just like Thomas Edison, in Florida.
  16. Like, I don't know, like.... Seems like.... Like some sort of neurological disorder. Like maybe Tourette Syndrome....maybe. Give me a like, like I deserve about three for this comment.
  17. Actually.... Thank You, very much, for this good suggestion. However, upon further thought, I doubt that any cooker, no matter the price, might be able to convert Thailand Chicken Breast into Kobe Beef. If this were possible, then such an appliance might be worth millions. Do you recall the Kobe Earthquake? Do you remember where you were at the time it hit? I do. Steel prices went sky high. That was a very bad day for those producing pressure cookers made of steel. So, the lesson learned: Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Except, nobody ever learns. Not sure whether or not it affected Kobe beef prices. Thailand chicken is not Kobe beef, I think.
  18. Plastic Surgery is an illusion. Down deep, the human skeleton remains the same, and does not get bigger, but only shrinks. Being young, these days... Is a curse like there never was before in history. A curse.
  19. Speaking of Toto and the Africa song...... Can't help but add this..... "Filthy Bird"....
  20. What? You must be joking. This, here, is a great place for retirees. When you become a retiree, you may very well sing a different tune. Wait and SEE what you seem unable to see at this moment in your life.
