Does anybody know where and how to buy a decent blender for use in Thailand, without paying extremely high import duty (if ordered from Amazon USA)? I am sure that I would be satisfied with something like this, having 1500 watts of power, or higher wattage might be even better. I like to crush ice, chop lean chicken meat, perhaps make a Pattaya-Papaya Frappe (papaya-ice-milk powder). However, in the past, the sprocket of the machines I buy in Asia always break, after relatively little use. Then what do you have to do?....Just put it in the garbage with the papaya peelings. I will mostly use this to chop chicken breast because....all I can buy from the big-box-store here is just meat from tough old birds, or fast-growth birds, or just very tough. The only way to eat this, in my view, is to boil the chicken breasts and then let them cool, and then chop them up, suitable for chicken-salad sandwiches. However, although I have never tried doing this before, I have read that one needs a very powerful blender for lean chicken meat, and that advice probably goes DOUBLE for the tough old birds around here...for sure. I am not even sure that this NINJA Machine might do the trick, even though I have seen that it is highly-rated: I have no doubt that China produces many decent blenders. But I don't know which brands might be good. The cheap-charlie brands I used in Taiwan broke very quickly when I dumped in ice cubes, for example. Not sure what my budget might be. However, I think Bt.2000.00 might be OK. I do not want to overpay for anything here in Thailand. I already have an Electrolux ULTIMATE TASTE 300 blender. I have not used it yet, and it was purchased two years ago. Of course, I don't put much faith in that...and this is why I have not used it yet. Still in its box, untouched. 1000 watts, for me, is just a toy...even though....this was the highest wattage I found at the time of purchase. Wish I had not bought it!!!!! I could have used that money.....and added another Bt.2000....in order to buy a decent machine. So then....what might be the best solution. I want something that will not break with normal use. Tks. Gamma Note: I care most about RAW POWER, and not that much about capacity. Raw Power Trumps Capacity, any day of the week, when considering a blender. (And then, too, a reliable machine is a must, which might be a purchasing-problem here in Thailand.)

OK. Here is my hypothesis, right or wrong, and still to be validated: a. Old lady walks slowly crossing the street. b. At the time she begins her crossing, there are no bikes to be seen, or they seem to be far off. c. Old lady reaches almost midway in crossing the road. d. Motorcycles seem to appear out of nowhere, due to very high rate of speed. e. Old lady freezes in her tracks due to TWO bikes riding side by side, leaving her confused about whether to proceed forward to cross the road, or to reverse her course and try to reach the safety of the side of the road from where she came. f. Too late, the motorcycle rider finally sees the old lady, after glancing up from what might have distracted him. The end to this story is the only thing we know for sure. I think this is what might have transpired. But, we need video to know for sure.

Twice-per-second Bleeping Bird: What's it good for?
GammaGlobulin replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Here where we are, coups are never done, or so I had been told. -
Dear Folks, It’s back, the twice-per-second bleeping bird. This bird makes a noise like the “warning sound” of a Japanese truck backing up. Here where I am, this bird began beeping about a week ago. What does it actually look like, because this vocalization is one that is not so easy to locate, and I have never actually seen one. So the question is, do you find the return of this bird a positive thing, and comforting, since it signals the return of the cool season? Also, what is the evolutionary advantage of this weird sound for this particular bird? Can it sing? Or, does it only beep? And, what about its young? What do the chicks or hatchlings sound like? Higher-pitched beeps? And why don’t they have these birds in America, because I never heard one singing there when I grew up. I timed the beeps this morning, and this bird beeps at the rate of two beeps per second. How does it know how to beep at exactly this rate? And, do the beeps ever speed up or slow down? What about if the bird saw a snake approaching its nest, for example? Would its beep-rate speed up like the beat of the human heart? I don’t find this bird’s beeps annoying in the least. Still, if I had about 20 of these bleeping birds in my yard, all simultaneously bleeping synchronously, a chorus of bleeping, then what? Have you ever experienced this? Just wondering, Gamma

What baffles me most is why anyone would want to ride any kind of vehicle which produces sound pressures exceeding 50 dB, two meters from the machine. After all, motorcycles are not aircraft, are they...unless.....at times...when.... The machine goes airborne. Even my Benz doesn't emit that much noise.... New acoustic emission regulations for all Thailand motorcycles is coming....one hopes. I would set the maximum allowable emissions at 50 dB at 100 KPH. Even that is too high. China has banned the internal combustion engine use on two-wheeled vehicles. And, Thailand needs to do the same. Electric motorcycles are cleaner, cheaper, safer, and do less harm to the environment. And, electric is quiet.

How can we say, for sure, if this actually might be true? Why do you say that he might? Have you read any further info that might inform us that this is the case? I, for one, am quite interested in this Topic. It's not that I wish anyone to be in trouble. It's only that I also care about real justice. And, everybody can benefit by seeing justice done in this case. So, really....is he in big trouble now?

Jeff Sachs' program is better than my program, for sure. Why not just listen to Jeff, instead of me? Your time will be better spent.... Believe me.

Thai ladies with hairy legs is a real turn off.
GammaGlobulin replied to ubonr1971's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I prefer Thai (Asian) women who do not shave anywhere because I like hair. Also, having arrived in Asia, first time in 1971, I am used to hair, and would not have Asian women any other way. Although, these days, I do not have them much. -
Wouldn't it be nice if EVERYONE could escape poverty? I used to spend much time listening to Jeffrey Sachs and his views of how to end poverty, while he lectured at Columbia. I like this guy! The best way to stop illegal migration from the South into the USA, is to reduce poverty south of the border. But... Does such a thing just make TOO MUCH SENSE?
-
A veritable ARMY of those wishing to illegally enter the USA. Are they nuts? For some reason, they seem to feel that it is their RIGHT to invade the US. But what do they think actually GIVES them the right? By the way: I am NEVER going back, after watching your linked video. No Way...JOSE!!!!!

This bike is WAY too loud! At higher RPM, this noisy bike will hit over 100 decibels. Similar to a jet aircraft. These should not be allowed on the road, for this reason.... LOUD!!!!!! The Honda CB450 is a very quiet machine. Unfortunately, some young wingnuts are not satisfied....and will do just anything to make it LOUDER. Crazy!!!! Anyway.... The CFR300 is way too loud for road use.

As I have mentioned in the past. Efficiency data is provided by the manufacturer, and is unique to each AC design. I always buy a machine with at least a SEER of 24. It matters not, to efficiency, what size you buy....except higher-efficiency units are not the large ones, but somewhere between 9000 BTU and 18,000 BTU. Larger than that, and its more difficult to design a machine which can score about a SEER of 24. =========== After buying the AC, then one can lower operating costs by adding insulation, by ensuring that the outdoor unit does not get hit by direct sunlight, and that the outdoor unit is placed so that it will get proper ventilation from the condenser-unit fan. Also, just for my bedroom, I use a 24,000 BTU unit, even though my bedroom is rather small, by my standards. Finally, if one wishes to oversize the choice of AC unit, then be sure to choose a unit which is a true inverter design. This way, the inverter can supply a range of BTU-cooling during operation. The compressor will then run more slowly when needed, and faster when needed. This is NOT true for a non-inverter design which just turns on and then off, but is unable to vary the speed of the compressor. It's rather simple really. All the info needed is on the net. As to which brand is the best in Thailand? I have no clue, and maybe most are not as good as the same brands when sold to the Japanese market, for example. However, the actual compressors used in the Panasonic brands seem to be the same, no matter what the market might be. Therefore, the Panasonic compressor, meaning the actual compressor and not the compressor unit with a possible problem fan, is quite good, and I think excellent, actually. It's only when the compressor is assembled with potential problem components, such as a defective fan, or thermostat, etc, that there may be a problem. But, I will not say, since I have never bought like 500 units, so that I could get a good samples size, large enough to draw some informed conclusion. In Conclusion: Choose a unit with a SEER of at least 24. And choose a premium brand. And choose an Inverter design, for sure. Then, after one has done all this....It's in God's hands, from there on out.

Thailand Aims to Woo Elite Tourists Amidst Regional Rivalry
GammaGlobulin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I knew it. But, there is no law against, occasionally, using it as a verb....is there? -
Well, I only mention this because Tramadol and similar drugs can cause addition and difficult withdrawal symptoms. HOWEVER, these difficult withdrawal symptoms might not seriously affect EVERYONE. So, I will not tell you how to safely stop taking Tramadol. This is probably a job of a trained medical professional. I am only saying that I would not take this type of medication for more than a week.

One reason this dirt-bike is not roadworthy is its muffler system. These dirt-bikes are just too noisy for the local roads. They cause much disturbance to the community. And, they are often driven too fast. Also, other reasons these bikes should not be on the roads, which I will mention later, if anyone might be interested.
