Do you really think president Musk has our best interest in his mind? The current administration has a vice-like grip on the necks of all Republicans and they control all three branches. They could force proper, legal scrutiny. Yes, the dainty, delicate politically correct approach has been almost useless, but gutting the entire patient's innards just to perform liposuction is resulting in innocent people dying, particularly when MUCH bigger, better targets are right there next to the humanitarian programs, but this would interfere with Republican politicians' favorites.

No one is disputing there is waste going on in the government. What IS unacceptable is going about this using a jackhammer to perform what COULD be accomplished using sensible scrutiny. I was a database administrator at a US Naval Hospital for which I was required to go through a background check to obtain a secret clearance. At lease ONE of those creeps wouldn't be able to get such a clearance - it's been reported he was a traitor to a company he worked for by leaking sensitive information to a competitor.
