Or, just let the govt handle the disposal at zero cost. Can't squeeze water out of a dead diamond.

Well it's better to have it than not when the POS bank tries to lay the burden of proof on the customer. -

Man shot over 10,000 baht debt near Chon Buri petrol station
Sandboxer replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Shooting someone over a lousy 10k does seem pretty stupid, especially when there's zero chance of anything being paid back by a dead debtor - but I suppose they do this to make an example so the guy who owes a million baht will likely pony up and not default on the vig. -
Buriram Woman Loses 530,000 Baht in Baffling Bank Transfers

Reading sh_t like this is really the last straw for me. From now on I will set my transfer limits in the apps to ZERO and just turn on again whenever needed, be that at Big C, a bar, or paying for ticket via Prompt. A bit annoying but really only takes 30 seconds to do, and I get a text notification every time I increase/decrease this limit so that can serve as proof of fraud if funds ever "disappear" between these times. -
How do Filipinas Differ from Thai Women?

Most couldn't SPELL "condom" 😁 In the 8 years I flew there almost weekly from Malaysia, I wasn't asked ONCE. I'm no fan of the Catholic church or any religion/cult/faith that suppresses common sense, but that one I really gotta thank them for. -
(posted in farming section as it seems more closely related to the category than the usual falang McMansion chanote/fake company BS, but mods please feel free to move if deemed inappropriate for here) Disclaimer: I'm an idiot when it comes to Thai farming land "ownership" and the various types of non-red-chanote title deeds, not am I financially involved in this deal but I am super curious and would like to educate myself. So the spousal unit tells me her father is buying a fairly large sized block of rubber tree land (25 rai) from the "Sahakorn" https://sahakorn.pmk.ac.th/ So this is, as far as I can tell, a just a credit cooperative. This is what my ears have processed coming from her: 1. She keeps saying that Sahakorn is "government" - how is a credit cooperative "government? 2. The land has "official measurements" (ok, good) 3. But the paperwork and proof of "ownership" (she calls it a "guarantee from Sahakorn i.e. "govt") will not be the typical deed/title certificate that has some kind of Garuda on it?! BUT she says that after 1 year a chanote can be applied for. This is in the sticks of Buriram province. I know a lot of the land in farming areas is non chanote'ed but shouldn't there at least be a title deed with some sort of colored garuda on top (blue/green etc etc)?? Or is this buying land from Sahakorn thing totally legit/normal and as usual, the dumbazz falang is sticking his long nose into things he should not even be curious about as this is "how it's done here"? -Confused falang in the jungle-

I would guess there are less than 200 Western falangs in the entire country who truly speak accent free, native level Thai (including understanding cultural contexts/syntax of the language). -

Chinese woman arrested over illegal passport ad in Thailand
Sandboxer replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
All the countries advertised have legit official programs for citizenship by investment/deposit, so IF the lady is acting as an agent for those programs then there's really nothing dodgy about it provided she has the proper work permit to conduct such promoting here. -

When the Chinese Take Over........
Sandboxer replied to NickyLouie's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Perfect example: Sihanoukville, Cambodia. They ran it down in a big wave for a few yrs and now it's a shell of its former self. Or, if we're going to focus on nightlife and a different demographic/nationality, Angeles City, Philippines and the Korean takeover (although it could be argued their bar lineups are wayyyyy better, if a little more pricey, than the scarecrows now seen in the "Western" bars.) Personally, I don't mind the young new gen Chinese tourists and unlike too many of their Brit/Aussie/etc. counterparts, generally not obnoxious agro pissheads.
