You have conveniently glossed over the disadvantages of carrying a smartphone. If they take your wallet its only cash, maybe a credit card, if they take your smartphone it potentially is a lot worse!! I see everyday people with their smartphone in their back-pocket, easily lost or stolen and some of these phones are very expensive!

The "big deal" as you put it is, a PCR test and at least one night in a hotel, not of your choice, so for a family of 4, that's quite a lot? 4 PCR tests at 3,800 baht and one night in a hotel, that will way over 20,000 before they even start their vacation. If one of the family tests positive, then its not going to be much fun, is it??

Good point! If you are traveling from the USA for example , but have a Canadian passport, what happens assuming you are double jabbed? It would make sense you would only need the one night quarantine, to wait for the result of the PCR test, not the 7 nights. But this is Thailand!

What if you are coming from the UK for example but do not have a UK passport? Lets say its Indonesian, you are coming from the approved list of 10 countries but not on the approved passport list? So even though you have had the double jab and are coming from the UK can you still avoid quarantine?
