My friend who is 85 returned to his home in Northern Ireland 2 months ago and now it attempting to return to LOS using the Thailand Pass. He has a valid retirement visa extension O type valid until end of May next year. He has received the double jab and is therefore valid to enter Thailand under the Thailand Pass scheme, just staying one night in a SHA hotel awaiting the result of the PCR test upon arrival in Bangkok. He had previously entered Thailand some months ago using the COE and spent 2 weeks in quarantine. This time his problem is because of his age he is having difficulty obtaining health insurance for his length of stay. He can get Covid insurance with no difficulty, that's what he used for his previous COE entry. So the question is does he actually need health insurance or just Covid insurance? If its just Covid insurance its not a problem, if its both it is a problem. Has anyone any information on this or on what his options are? Is there an official statement from Immigration? Thanks.

Just came back from Rompoh Market in Jomtien and Soi 7 Jomtien. Nearly all the bars are being cleaned and you can see delivery of beer etc. Some bars are actually open today. A lot of police can be seen walking around. So I don't think its rumor, it is happening!

I heard from a bar owner that bars in the Pattaya are can open on Friday 17th Dec! Not restaurants but bars, but they do need to meet certain criteria.

Last night a good friend who owns a bar in Jomtien sent a message to me saying that her bar will be open on Friday 17 th December. Today it is being cleaned etc. I checked with another person in the trade and it was confirmed for the Pattaya area. Apparently the police are telling bar owners. This is not a restaurant but a beer bar. They need to meet certain standards laid out, like an outside seating area, temp checks, etc, the bar will close at 11.00pm on the dot! I am not sure why this has happened maybe somebody came to their senses? I would be very interested if anyone else has heard any news!

I have friends in Phuket and they say all bars , restaurants etc are open, selling alcohol, foreigners and girls everywhere, just like normal! The only stipulation is that everything must close at midnight, they are strict on that the police go round and check!
