The key to education is parental pressure....100%.......no one recognises this more so than the Chinese. Too many parents don't care, don't understand or simply abdicate responsibility for their own children's education to the state.

Always wondered about that......it is used in the west, but is it treated beforehand in someway? I know where we lived it was used, but the air temperature had to be below a certain level before the farmers could spread it.

We caught a boat out to Koh Samet......obviously overloaded. But being British I would rather drown than make a fuss. The guy started to hand out life jackets, which consoled me somewhat, but he ran out of them before he reach us........ we made it across okay......all's well that ends well I guess!!!

Prices are horrifying, particularly western foods. We have moved out to the boonies now and live off food sold from the street (literally, although there is a tarpaulin underneath the food).......cheap as chips (probably no longer a relevant expression).

Thought the same.....looked very suspicious.....also what are the chances of a diver finding the propellor so quickly at the bottom of a fast flowing river in zero visibility...... I reckon they took that propellor down with them then resurfaced claiming to have found it......the infamous face saving actions of the Thais.

During the re-enactment the propellor that had earlier been removed for forensic analysis, fell off and had to be recovered by divers from the river bed........you couldn't write this stuff. The owner apologised and said his number one team were busy, so it was his number two team that had replaced the propellor
