  1. Only thing standing out in the blip, the elephant, IF, really around 70 yrs old, as very old for an Asian elephant * The humans, at those ages, could have needed hospitalization if the tripped over a curb. Moving on .... * ... "The average life span of an Asian elephant is 48 years, while the African elephant lives 60-70 years. Elephants in captivity have shorter life spans, which experts believe is due to stress from poor mental health" https://a-z-animals.com/blog/elephant-lifespan-how-long-do-elephants-live/
  2. ... and the only thing that is going to protect anyone, anywhere, from a lightning strike surge ... is luck ⚡⚡⚡

  4. As stated, it's going to depend on immediate location, and water drainage of, in that area. 1 of 3 builds, we had to add dirt. Simply to make it level, what house actually sat on, as the rest (1 rai) pitched downward, and wasn't an issue of flooding or standing water. during heavy rain. Other 2 building lots were high & dry, and nothing around higher, backing up to hills or waterways nearby. Some waterways, don't exist during dry season, so sat photos may help identify them. Google Earth will give a ballpark idea of sea level, though unless at surfside, not that helpful, unless surrounding area is much higher than you.
  5. Ballpark idea how much longer from 1 site: https://group.met.com/en/mind-the-fyouture/mindthefyouture/when-will-fossil-fuels-run-out
  6. Not 'test lab', but we use a Xiaomi T D S pen water quality tester. Pictured below. First 8 ish yrs, I drank unfiltered well water. Then when renting, first 3 yrs stint, filtered city water, strictly for taste, or more to remove any taste, chlorine or biological (bacterial/viral via (2 stage / 3 micron). Whether it does much for metals, I'm not sure. Never tested. 2nd house, next 5 yrs, village water, using same countertop filter for tap water, used for drinking & cooking. Next rental, at PKK, again city water, but now using the T D S pen, and a bit surprised by readings. Really surprised, as in at 170 ppm and out of filter, about the same ... ???? Hence we started drinking bottled water, which almost all are <10 ppm, 1 or 1.5 liter bottles from 7-11, and usually 6-7-8 ppm, if not mineral water. We usually buy ARO/Makro brand in 6 liter jugs, and they test @ 12 ppm Now, new house / PKK, and just today, started drinking rain water. T D S test @ about 9 ppm, unfiltered. Those wanting to filter water on the cheap, vid below. Our 2 stage (ceramic & carbon), 3 micron (PURE brand) cost shy of 3k baht. Good for taste & biologicals, not sure about anything else. Info & possible tweaking above:
  7. Don't know if using a smaller system, but we were giving more to the grid than taking. PEA definitely benefiting and not even sunny out. Depending on the drone, but they can be very quiet and you'd never hear them. Kind of irrelevant, as it's not like you can hide if you did hear it.
  8. ฿100k ... so up 5k Used 6.5, as low alarm beeps at 35%, which case I turn the grid on. Only hit that twice, but that's using conservatively near sunset. Guessing it will be closer to 10kw overnight, when using more AC at sunset and not rainy season. So both ESSs will be at about 50% before being charged back up.
  9. The 'accident' examples in vid, were total idiots, and shouldn't be operating anything. Are 60 kph ebikes even legal. Is anything over 25 kph legal ??? With or without being licensed. That's some crazy speeds, on a bicycle without proper protection. Brakes, frame, suspension just aren't built for those speeds. I don't, wear protective clothing on my motorcycles, never did, but damn, I always had a proper helmet. Bicycle helmets are good for 1 bounce at 25 kph, IF THAT.
  10. First bill post-Solar paid today ???? New meter now has 31 units on it, and if no more added before the 28th, that bill should be about ... ฿130 per PEA estimator site: https://eservice.pea.co.th/EstimateBill/ Which is actually a 'huge' increase, (relative) over the Jan2022 estimate @ ฿100 That should go down to ฿42, the following bill (Oct) or whatever being connected cost. As next week we'll be adding another 10kW ESS / battery = -0- PEA units in the future. Seems I underestimated our overnight usage of 4-5kW, and more like 5-6 and being conservative. Will be more like 10-12kW overnight after new battery hooked in. That's mainly more AC at sunrise & sunset / 3 hrs worth, being the non conservative wanted, though not really needed, this time of year. Seems I've estimated our daily use about right, and well over 30 units a day, nearing 40 - 50 if sun actually came out all day. Matching our past Udon Thani bills of ฿5000 ish. So expect 50 ish units a day (X30) or monthly bills near ฿7000 +/- ... IF ... PEA billed, Feb, March, April, 1st half of May, till rains arrive. Rental the last 5 yrs was 600-700 units, and 1 small AC used along with poor construction and insulated townhouse. ROI ... guessing 5-7 years, more likely on the lower end, with EV (car) arriving at year's end, hopefully.
  11. OK, peeked at vid .... 60 kph on a ebike or any bicycle ... without proper gear. That's just stupid. Mine will do 40 kph, and I hang around 25 kph, simply because if an oops at 40 kph, well, I just don't bounce like I used to, along with not wearing a helmet. Again, it's not the machines, it's the idiot who operate them.
  12. Crossed my mind a few times, and for ICE, I'd get a new or used (if done right) Suzuki Carry & 'solarize' it. There was one locally, all set up for business w/solar, but advert had no contact info ... or I would have bought it ... oops. Since getting the EV (ordered) why bother if needing to sleep in vehicle, for 1 or 2 nights. Anything else, longer and I'd just get an inexpensive hotel. EV - no need for solar, as has AC & electric outlet (V2L) to power appliance. Could do a long O&A in EV, but hotels are simply too cheap to bother more than a night 1 or 2. Only if last minute, and couldn't find a pet friendly place, as not so easy some times. As pointed out, TH not camper ready yet, with water & sewer dump stations. If don't mind DIY, al' natural, then no prob. I've actually taken a (1) shower with a 6 liter bottle of water. 6 liters goes a long way, 1-2 to get wet, 2-6 to rinse off, when the power has gone out, before having gravity water supply at 1 house/apt. Portable toilet (seat/bucket/bog), or not ... and that's sorted. Shower, if not DIY (bottled water) then any decent hotel with pool, has shower poolside. OK, rude to use if not staying, but hey, who's going to know. I've done that in USA, when driving a truck over the road. At a FL, USA resort that I had a timeshare at, so sort of allowed, though I didn't ask. EV'ing it @ 6:12 of vid:
  13. Didn't bother watching, as title simply too silly to waste my time. Products and machine that need to be operated by people aren't dangerous. The people who operate them are ????
  14. You really need to look at the Suzuki Celerio, as for 78k baht more, you get a brand new car with a warranty. No need to replace the brakes, tires, belts/hoses, alternator/generator, battery, oil, clutch or tune up anytime soon. For good or bad, has the new car smell & un-farted on seat, that still has some cushion let to it. Along with the AC working for years on. Even pick one up used if not wanting to spend the extra baht.
  15. Going to have to agree with Paul, considering how some, many, wear their mask. From nose uncovered to chin diaper mode, so obviously not wearing for fear of becoming infected or pollution.
  16. NO - none Early in the voting, but surprised since the very vocal pro vax crowd on AN See how that changes before the day is out:
  17. Great ...no sense in watching now since I know how it ends ????
  18. I used a heavy duty, outlet/plug set, from better electrical supply store, for the oven in 2nd house, not wall mounted. Don't have one in present house, as use counter top appliances. And all the outlets and inners (box, I think) are steel, so no risk of melting.
  19. For the paranoid part, remember, if illegal, then yes, maybe you'll be paranoid, due to fear of being arrested.
  20. You sure he wasn't smoking something else, angel dust/PCP. Don't know anyone ever addicted to ganga, that's just silly.
  21. Unless needing to get into the vendor, in the past, my nose was always uncovered. Just too hot and uncomfortable breathing & feeling my own exhaust. If not physically unhealthy, mentally stressful ???? Besides, not being clean shaven every day, that mask is useless ... IMHO
  22. Haven't seen or looked for here, but why would you want one ? Would think useful in USA, since having 2 voltages being used, and many 240v appliances don't have plugs, and are 'hot wired' in. I always preferred to add an outlet / plug set for those, for any future moving or need to work on them. Not really sure I'd want anything hot wired in here, aside from the ACs, which I actually wish I had an exposed breaker near the units, but wasn't here when installed. OK, the breakers aren't far away, since house is 1 story & small. Ditto for the hot water heaters, again, wasn't here & too lazy to do ????
  23. Public, private, irrelevant. If a business wants you to wear a mask to enter, you wear, or don't enter. Thankfully only Makro requires (locally) to enter, then once in, UP2U. 7-11s no longer requires, or haven't lately, and that's locally, Krung Thep & Udon Thani. No request to wear or even dagger eyes from staff. Think more envious since they have to wear. Nobody cares any more, or, my experiences of late.
  24. Does the car not have 'immobilizer', as I think most new ones I peeked at 2 yrs ago did.
