  1. Agree Vientiane is Ok for a weekend, if that. Bangkok ... Most exciting ... nah As much as I like it, I wouldn't make a special trip to go there, especially internationally. It's convenient, if living in TH, and the only big metro ... that's it. Nothing worth going to see, if not in the neighborhood.
  2. If Philly, PA, USA, it's a great small city. Was 25 yrs ago ????
  3. Agree, and really enjoyed it
  4. My stoneware pan had a glass coating, which started sticking, so I think it was compromise/cracked at spots. Wasn't a fan afterwards.
  5. @watthong PhiMai Nat Museum Call first, as Gmap states 'temporarily closed' 044471167
  6. Go to PhiMai first, since smaller, and the museum is on the road into town. Many pass it without realizing it. No rec on transport, as self drive, but as suggested, surely your accommodations will know of.
  7. I go for R&R and landscape, view, a snapshot, sunrise/set at different location. Hopefully a snap of a new bird species. A market if interesting location, or I'm actually shopping/rare. That's about it of late. Wats & history ... done, not longer of interest. Nan will be quite nice for a few days. Same with the rest of the N that I haven't seen yet.
  8. No argument here, well, except the Thai bashing comment as it seems some live to do just that on this forum.
  9. I know more people that got killed on a MC in the USA, than here, and I know at least 10X as many people here that use MCs everyday. USA, except for me, riding MCs was seasonal among the people I knew that got killed. Unless snow or ice on the roads, rare, I rode my MC to work. That's stats enough for me. I'm been cut off on a MC in the USA, more than here. Obviously more die here, do their lack of helmet wearing, and reckless drivers.
  10. you did bring USA into the conversation.... ... car for car, per capita, maybe safer here ... scooter for scooter per capita, maybe safer here also USA Still off topic though. Figure I'd give the Thai bashing a break also ... ????
  11. Familiarity is nice also. Phuket, CM, Krung Thep, worthy of more than 1 visit. Familiar and in comfort zone, while exploring the rest of the area. Something like Patts though, unless going much further, it's same same, not different, and you only go there for 1 thing, unless a local, and for them, a quick, close escape from the Big Mango. We used to pop into Krung Thep and or Hua Hin on the way to Phuket twice a year. Explore a bit each time, till nothing left to explore, and same after so many visits to Phuket, aside from tourist #s increasing steadily on Phuket. The reason we started exploring, and really liking what was in between Hua Hin & Phuket. Giving Phuket a 10 yr break, until Covid, then actually visited during 'high season' a few times. Pure Bliss. But now, they're back, and higher #s than when we stopped going 13ish years ago ???? Not sure if & when we'll return to Phuket, or even our regular southern loop, as also explored out. So ... Look North young man ... ???? As an Intern'l tourist, not seeing the repeated visits that some do, unless they get out a lot more to other countries through out the year. Definitely a better pay grade / holiday budget than me. Aside for distance and having to put up with plane travel, if from USA, or even from here now. I'm planed out, I just can't do it ????
  12. I actually feel safer on motorcycle here/TH, than in the USA. Since so many here, people are aware of them, vs USA, where they are not or simply don't respect them, look for them or give them space, since most have never ridden one.
  13. have you asked the builder to return & fix ... ... or finish Try finish when talking to him, as he won't lose face. Just say you notice a few loose, and wondering when he'll finish ... ???? I'd just go buy a screw gun/drill, and finish it myself. If you climbed up to put caps on, then your capable to screw it down.
  14. Not believing the news-blip either, as it's been raining everywhere we've gone, the past 6 weeks, some lite, some heavy, some all day. PKK, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Phang-Nga, Hua Hin, Krung Thep. Only place where very little was Phuket. Getting ready to rain here/PKK now. And right on time, per forecast.
  15. Nothing to compare to, as a 1st time, but Mr Shawarma @ MBK, ground floor had some damn tasty falafel. About the only thing worth going into MBK for if staying @ ibis across the street ???? Mr S
  16. 10 kms / L ... pretty krappy, and hope she has a better car than that. Yank, so I know USA measures, and NO, didn't notice your reply, as don't read 'em all, especially after I reply.
  17. I forget how, as I've had one ... almost forever. Sorry, not helpful, but didn't won't to ignore your query.
  18. Vivacor rosuvastatin Manufacturer: AstraZeneca Distributor: DKSH https://www.mims.com/thailand/drug/info/vivacor?type=full
  19. Not necessarily cheaper, not in my case, and about 4-6X as much, govt hosp vs online or local phaemacy.
  20. "UK we measure a car's fuel economy in miles per gallon (MPG)" I always scratch my head about that. Know the reason, though forget, and simply don't care. I'm a Yank, and I do everything in metric. I don't know about y'all, but I actually read the OP, and she requested ... "cost of gasoline for a car per kilometer"
  21. I believe OP is referring to a car, possibly, and probably 1.5 engine.
  22. "if i go to the hospital what are they likely to do for me? " Give you Amoxy and tell you to return in 2 weeks if symptoms persist.
  23. I'm definitely more intelligent than women, since having 2 heads to think with ????
  24. I had to prep & re-season mine, even though a Lodge. Seems the bean counters thought a rough finish wouldn't effect sales. If not living here/TH, I would not have bought, as at the time, selection was limited. Now more available. To get that nonstick finish, I had to grind/sand down the interior, and re season. Or else yes, it would be useless for eggs & many things needing a flat surface, aside from searing meats or casserole type dishes. Now my favorite pan and does/did great pizzas. Have others cast irons for just eggs & a better pizza griddle now. Don't use on the induction cooker, as stated, they'll scratch the surface up. Just the SS on the induction cooker.
  25. A little (false) pressure sales, as I believe the incentives was a set amount, yet to be used up, or even close to, and I believe don't expire till 2025. source
