I know this topic is tiresome, repeating the same things over and over. Thanks for your patience. I am still confused about the 90 day reporting. I arrived with a METV late december, so I would report late march. I am leasing a condo, TM30 completed. However, I am making a border hop late feb to renew my 60 day. I was told that because I am not changing my address and entering with the same Visa I need to do the 90 day based on my first enty in Dec. ... then I read that with every new entry to the country the start date for reporting goes back to zero. If that is true I would never need to do a 90 day report. Which is correct? Thanks!

Is it ok to use the postal system for my FIRST 90 day notification? I loath the prospect of another trip to immigration.

just reading all the replies .. too funny ! -
Just to add to that, I flew to Vientiane on Dec 24th and there were no questions asked. Oddly enough, when I was at the Air Asia departure gate to leave Thailand (get on the bus to take us to the plane) I was asked to show my vaccine records. I had them with me so no problem but as far as I could tell no one before me was asked.

That's the thing I don't understand. If I had my wits about me at the time it's the very question I would have asked ... Thai embassies represent the Thai Government. When I apply for a visa they can see my travel history ... if they approve the visa how can some IO say no. Maybe they really can't, but just like to show their displeasure by pulling us aside and giving us grief about it. I don't know. Has anyone had their legit Visa rejected at passport control?

I got a bit of a scare today returning from four days in Lao. I came to Thailand using the visa exempt and then extended it 30 days, During this time I finally received the METV I applied for in Canada before I left. So I flew out and returned via Don Mueang and presented my visa. A senior IO was called and I had to go with him to another desk while he took a close look at my passport and the many visas and extensions. I had spent 9 months in thailand on my last trip before returning home for three months... then came back again. He asked if I knew anyone here (girlfriend) and how long I planned to stay (six months). He finally gave me the stamp and I asked him what the problem was. Not surprising, it was the length of time in Thailand over the last two years. I told him next trip I would probably be doing a retirement visa and he smiled and said yes. I think the days of repeated METV's are coming to an end and even if the Thai Embassy in our home country approves the visa it seems the IO here can say no.

Right. That is what i am wondering about. I would love to do 9 months every year with a METV, extensions required. I guess it may be up to the Thai Embassy in my country ( Canada) to decide if i am allowed this every year? I will go back to Canada for three months (at least) then apply again for the METV, within the same year.

As I understand it, you can come and go (exit Thailand) as much as you want with a METV within the six month time frame of the visa. The maximum stay per entry is 60 days, unless you pay for a 30 day extension. I have the METV now. My question... how many extensions can I get per year with the METV? Thank you!

Ottawa Thai Embassy Not Helpful

That was quick. I submitted on Oct 01, got approved Nov 14. Mind you they did ask for more information (re METV) so that probably dropped me down the queue. -

Extension of the 45 days on arrival?
Des1 replied to coralia's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You can always use the old standby of Sukhumvit BTS to Mo Chit, taxi from there to the immigration office, no more than 150bt (one way). Taxi drivers often drive that route because of the many foreigners wanting to go there. -

Extension of the 45 days on arrival?

I went this morning to get a 30 day extension to my visa-exempt. I just assumed it was done at CW. Wrong! I had to go to the 3rd floor, IT Square Laksi, just a few km from CW. There were two extra forms to fill out when I got there. Simple forms just acknowledging various rules, not much more than a signature. It was an efficient setup with the first desk making sure the paperwork was in order before giving a number to proceed. So, just a heads up if there are other sleepy heads like me thinking of going to CW. -
Just feel compelled to note, although i may be stating the obvious .. if you never had chicken pox (as a child) you cannot get shingles. Shingles is a byproduct of sort of chicken pox. If you were vaccinated for chicken pox, again, no way you can get shingles. At least this is the way I understand it. Of course I may be wrong so do the research.
