  1. It's his choice to make and, on the surface, it seems like he's chosen those who agree with him. That also is what EVERY President does. Again, on the surface, it seems that some of his choices may not have the qualifications that Washington insiders want. But the voters have chosen this maverick (Trump) knowing that he will do this. I just wish he would not make in-recess appointments so that Congress (biased) has the opportunity to question them. Just look what "qualified" and "experienced" has gotten us in the past! Corruption and Washington "elites" making the same self-serving decisions!
  2. cryingdick cited his source! These sources are the ones you should be jumping on, not this poster!
  3. Nearly all these comments are directed at Trump as a person and not at his policies! Wonder why that is? Personally and morally repugnant behaviora re rightly excoriated, but how about JFK's affairs while IN the White House" and Clinton's also? Selective outrage? Short-term memories" Or a sign of the times (media influence)?
  4. All these comments miss the point IMHO. The media is fawning over her shamelessly and without question her on ANYTHING! Like for example her policy positions. Her refusal to sit for interviews. Has nothing to do with Trump.
  5. I support Trump's policies (mostly) but not him personally, his morally bankrupt lifestyle, his insulting, demeaning attacks on his opponents and his inability to be diplomatic in anything. On the other side Harris is a weak, ineffective leader but seems to have an effective team behind her, but when she has to speak extemporaneously she fails miserably. Maybe that's why she hasn't had a press conference stince she's been anointed?
  6. I have noticed that most of the farangs posting here are radical lefties. That TH is more conservative has nothing to do with the farang posting (IMHO). Why these posts are more liberal probably has more to do with the fact that liberals are more vocal than conservatives.
  7. WOW! So many Trump haters here!! I believe Trump said he was open to more than one debate with her and that he wasn't happy about them being on ABC because he thinks they are too biased (liberal). He has not ever said he did not wnt to debate her! Let's see a LITTLE objectivity here, please!
  8. I don't understand how these politicians think they can get away with all these "exaggerations" and outright lies especially with the increasing growth of fact checking! Do they think we are stupid, or are they? Now let's hear the fact checking on Trump!
  9. The only serious problem for the Biden family is how he can withdraw while still preserving some dignity!
  10. I would like to see some context in these reports, please. How serious are these numbers? Compare to flu, perhaps? Or to the period when it was considered a pandemic? Absolute numbers as well as percentage increases/decreases need some reference point for the public to judge the seriousness. Media has been doing the public a disservice by not providing comparisons. e.g. A 50% incresse means different degrees of concern when the cases go from 2 to 3 and from 2000 to 3000.
  11. Why single out Fox News? ALL the so-called "legacy" media outlets are just as guilty!! There are few that are truly "news," most are purely opinion soapboxes!
  12. As an expat, I consider myself as a guest in LOS and one reason I love it here is because of the Thai culture! I respectfully submit that those expats who don't like the water splashing tradition during Songkran try to learn its meaning and if you still don't like it, just stay home.
  13. Living in Udonthani now for over seven years, I have found that speaking Thai (or Isaan here in the NE) is not necessary for at least two reasons: 1.) There is a LOT of English signage in the area; and 2.) Many Thais I encounter seem to prefer to practice their English with me. In my extended Thai family, most speak Thai (central I assume), Issan and Lao languages. Side note: My sister-in-law taught English in a Thai school and I have a difficult time with her English pronunciation. And she doesn't seem to want to practice it with me. Embarrassed? Maybe.
  14. Most of these posts seem to ignore the cultural (family relationship) differences between Thailand and the western world. Thais have a very tight familial social life. My Thai wife is 33 years younger than I (American) (she was 36, I was 69 y/o when we married 15 years ago). I have outlived all my close family and so everything I own will happily go to her when I die. We love each other without reservation. To judge Thai relationships to western ones is selfish at best and stupid st worst!
