  1. Of all the things to complain about in Thailand - the banks, the drivers, the police, the double charging, the ever-fluid extension of stay requirements - I really don't see how submitting a simple form when you - as a non-Thai - take up residence in Thailand. The hotels and guesthouses are set up to batch process the TM-30 submissions every evening, with no effort on the part of the guest - other than asking for a copy if needed for immigration. We've got the Sec.38 application on which any house/condo owner or renter can register as possessor, then submit their or their guests' TM-30's. Takes all of a minute to file a report. "Oh, the draconionanity!"
  2. No problem, really. You have your house registered with the Sec.38 application. Your wife can do your daughter's TM30 on her cellphone during the 30 seconds it takes you to load your daughter's luggage in the trunk of your car at the airport.
  3. My understanding is that all foreigners staying in Thailand must have a TM30, submitted by their host/landlord/hotel/guesthouse, or by themselves - done online, in person or by mail. It's the TM6 entry card that was done away with. It's a requirement that's not always enforced. It's not a problem NOT to have one, unless you have business with immigration.
  4. No covid problems in China affecting shipping. I ordered several items over the past month, shipped from China. When orders were accepted, was given a 1-1/2 to 2-week delivery window. By the next day it was packed, following day picked up by a Chinese delivery service (cainiao) and sent to China customs. Clearance took two days, next day air shipped to Bangkok, two days customs, and two days later delivered. Delivery is by Kerry or Flash or Ninja. You can follow the progress on your orders page.
  5. Have you daughter register her house using the Sec. 38 application. She can file your TM30 online.
  6. First report says Rolex AND 50k in cash. Second report says Rolex WORTH 50k. Haha! Stupid crooks! Mugged a Canuck and all they got was a fake Rolex.
  7. There's a Bangkok Bank branch at the Hua Thale intersection, at the U-turn north of Home Depot (HWY 224), so on the way to immigration. Don't know if this branch is immigration-user friendly, but have noted it as a possible option for next year. https://www.google.com.au/maps/search/Bangkok+Bank/@14.9576159,102.1192092,16z
  8. I wouldn't try to identify a medication by the plastic bottle. Those are generic items made in one factory, and could be sold to multiple pharmaceutical companies. Why not request a complete transcript of your records from your eye doctor. Surely that would include all medications prescribed.
  9. Instead of filling out the PDF, scroll down one option further, "File Online FBAR." Dropdowns work - Firefox, no VPN.
  10. That's fine. These Chinese and their friends and acquaintances and the millions that will read all about it on WeChat (with names named!) will stick to zero-dollar tours in the future, unless they bypass Thailand altogether.
  11. I've used this free service for years: https://www.freefilefillableforms.com/home/default.php Easy to use, has all the forms I need - 1040, schedules B and D, schedules 1 and 6, forms 8949 and 2555. Accepts foreign addresses and foreign income without W2.
  12. Surprised he didn't claim it was brake failure during a micro-nap.
  13. Lazada........ https://www.lazada.co.th/products/western-style-incerun-official-store-i1128628977.html?spm=a2o4m.store_product.list.49.291232d5n4ijJj
  14. Wait a minute........didn't they just legalize pot? Amazing!
  15. Didn't this kefuffle occur on January 5th, and hit the news on the 15th? Just asking.
  16. The man said the information would be reliable. He never said it would be truthful.
  17. You've got an eVisa in the database and a print off. That's needed for immigration when you land. The IO will put a stamp in your passport with an "admitted until" date. The police in country may check your passport, they will look for this stamp indicating how long you can legally remain in Thailand. I don't believe they have any need to see your eVisa, but you will of course keep it with your passport. The lady on instagram was extortionated for 27,000 baht. She had a valid visa-on-arrival that the police claimed was not official. They lied.
  18. It could be worse. Much worse. If he'd been caught smoking in public, he'd face a 5000 baht fine. That's so much more than 500 baht and a fruit basket.
  19. I can't see this as legitimate. This was a roadblock set up in the big city teeming with foreigners, with seven cops on site according to the lady, plus all the officers at the station. It's not conceivable that none of them were familiar with a "visa on arrival" stamp. https://livefromalounge.com/thailand-visa-fees-on-arrival-january-2019/thailand-visa-on-arrival-visa-image/
  20. I'm not a lawyer, but....... I assume the separate smaller company is set up to shield the larger corporation from liability. Mamma can't be sued for the actions of the babies. I would wonder why.
  21. Bangkok Bank stopped doing the money transfers using the ACH domestic transfer system a couple years ago. That's why Fidelity removed your linked account. You can still send a free wire transfer from Fidelity by phone, but you may have difficulty sending to a Thai account if not in your name, and you'll have the receiving Thai bank do the currency exchange at a rate favorable to them. You can do a free ACH transfer from Fidelity to Wise online, then Wise can convert at a much better exchange rate and send baht to your thai bank account. Depending on the transfer amount, Wise fee should be offset by the better exchange rate.
  22. Wife took the photo with her cellphone from the balcony. She didn't want to get any closer. The snake was not harmed, it's just the angle of the photo and the way it was trying to wrap around the non-lethal snake-catcher-stick. I released it by a pond near our property where it slithered off into the bush.
  23. You have to admit it appears those technology students HAVE been studying.
