  1. I just received my 13th retirement extension, never used an agent. Sometimes something comes up, not always. I deal with it. Why pay more than 1900? (Plus a few extra hundred for bank statements, because some people use agents to circumvent the rules).
  2. Here's mine. Crab and avocado salad with a dozen raw oysters and two glasses of white wine, at Viva on Sukhumvit Soi 8.
  3. The electoral college was practical in 1789, it’s been a disaster waiting to happen and the disaster was Trump.
  4. Trump ran twice and lost the popular vote both times. He’s already a two-time loser.
  5. I recently saw a Netflix documentary about Ron Williamson, sentenced to death (also in Oklahoma) and came within five days of being executed, before eventually exonerated by DNA after 11 years on death row. I thought it shocking he was given the death penalty when the case against him was so weak. Good argument to abolish capital punishment. https://innocenceproject.org/cases/ron-williamson/
  6. I’m not religious but I like it. Reminds me of good times when I was a kid, and it’s pretty amazing you can walk into a store in Thailand and hear music about a guy that died over 2000 years ago. It’s mostly Santa and jingle bells of course, but I’ve heard Silent Night. ‘At home I’ll put on Mariah Carey and Bing Crosby, and the Jimi Hendrix version of Little Drummer Boy.
  7. Not fair? Better than the alternative.
  8. Not at the top, in the middle. I lived in View Talay 6 couple years, never wanted to talk to him, but I saw him in Bangkok a few years ago. He lost all his hair from steroid abuse and didn’t look ‘scary’ anymore. 😂
  9. What is rude is defined by culture, that makes this thread useless.
  10. I recommend the Santhiya Tree Resort. I always book a Garden Villa. Biggest problem is it's fairly remote and a 15 minute walk to the main road but they operate a free shuttle. Nice pool and also a good beach.
  11. FYI: KC Grand had the worst pizza I’ve ever had in my life. Otherwise, the resort was OK. The best breakfast on the island IMHO, is at The Chill, but it’s quite expensive for walk-ins. Not a buffet but ala carte. You order as much as you want and it’s served fresh.
  12. I just returned from two weeks on Koh Chang, my third visit this year. It rained nearly every day, sometimes 4 or 5 times, but the weather starts improving in October. I spent the entire time in Kai Bae, a week at the Awa Resort and a week at the Gajapuri Resort. Kai Bae has very nice resorts and the best restaurants (Mordi & Fugi, El Barrio, Good Luck Seafood) and nightlife area on the island.
  13. Crazy Horse is expensive, Crazy House much better price. I’ve seen both shows.
  14. When you can no longer hang onto the floor with one hand.
  15. Synthetic Vitamin B-12 (cyanocobalamin) contains traces of potassium cyanide, not enough to be toxic so don’t sweat it. I need to inject a vial of this twice a month. Believe me, it’s not a problem. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanocobalamin
  16. I quit cold turkey several years ago and after a month I started to experience some anxiety and insomnia. However, the last time I quit cold turkey without any symptoms at all. I think the difference was that I had lost a lot of weight and I was exercising regularly.
  17. I stayed at Sylvan once and wouldn’t book there again, better places for the money. Have also stayed at Santhiya Tree resort (shuttle is 4 times per day, or it’s a 20 minute walk to the main road), Dewa, Aana (which is up the river), Gajapuri, Chill (expensive, but have rooms with direct pool access), Awa, KC Grande, Emerald Cove, Mercury, Katcha, Chang Buri Resort, among others.
  18. I vote Mordi E Fuggi in Kae Bae. Homemade pasta.
  19. Last month I noticed the Emerald Cove Resort was being demolished. Do you know the future plans for this property?
  20. I bought a used Porsche 944 in 1989. Officially, the model year 1983 1/2, and it also broke down all the time, but I only paid $10,900 for it. However, I’ve seen exotic facsimile cars in Bangkok (like a Ford Mustang Shelby) that looked remarkably like the real thing.
