  1. Yeh, I've 'herd' of him too....???? Yeah, me too. Reckons he's the greatest of all time.
  2. That, or the thought of the sweaty overweight farang Lothario with a combover, halitosis and fingers like King Charles. Or being tag-teamed by the boys from Bombay. BTW, why aren't you looking up her old address? You seem to have a good handle on her daily movements and surmise her family could do with some extra wonga.
  3. Well spotted and explains why the OP's friend got bounced. No AirAsia staff incompetence here, just traveler ignorance.
  4. Probably the result of trying to cobble together a cheap long-distance international flight on AirAsia. I let them take me to Don Muang and back to Udon when needs must but that's about as far as I trust them as an airline.
  5. I recall reading your other thread about shoutey Isaan women and now this? If this has been going on for a "few years", it sounds to me like you're a bit of a masochist.
  6. Yes, me too in the amphur at Udon Thani way back when. It's a box checking/filling exercise, that's all.
  7. As long as there's no hook in their offer...
  8. Very, very true but isn't that what's called Hobson's Choice? Or is it more likely a case of the de'il ye know?
  9. Works for me!
  10. It's Songkran month. Expect the (un)expected delays.
  11. I recall the rule was the initial, one-year 'provisonal' license needed to be renewed BEFORE it expired whereas the full, five year license should be renewed AFTER expiration date to get an extra few months validity based on your birth date. Same paperwork for initial application, ID and a doctor's 'medical certificate'. The old license should have your address already on the obverse. I don't recall them asking for proof that it's still a valid address but assume that for a new address, the letter from immigration (or the yellow book/pink ID card) would suffice. And I think you also need to book an appointment online via an app rather than walk-in?
  12. Is your local immigration office one of those awful ones that demands you check-in on your return from any trips inside the country?
  13. You mean the SNP WAS the vehicle. This debacle isn't survivable, at least not in my (our?) lifetime. Or was the £110,000 custom RV that the police seized from Sturgeon's mum's driveway their vehicle? https://ukdaily.news/police-seize-luxury-rv-from-home-of-nicola-sturgeons-mother-in-law-433405.html
  14. After first setting foot here back in 1978, getting out of Thailand three or four times a year for a reality check is a mental health bargain. A change is as good as a rest. Somehow, I manage to plan my life around my infrequent Thai 'outages' with consummate ease. As for rule changes, extensions aren't impervious to them either so being able to 'roll with it' isn't unique to multi-entry visa riders. Extensions also fitted my lifestyle and served me well for the past 12 years or so. It's just that I can't be ar5ed with the immigration office faff any more. But I appreciate that everyone's needs and opinions are unique, different and subject to change. If you are happy with longer term stays with less travel and that benefits your lifetsyle, then yes, annual extensions are (almost) perfect.
  15. Sticking with the 'Bond' theme, there's the comment that it's OK when a man turns 60 because he ends up looking like Sean Connery whereas when a woman turns 60, she ends up looking like Sean Connery.
  16. Seismic survey vessels. There's at least half-a-dozen of them operating in APAC right now. If you do a good job, you could end up assigned elsewhere on their fleets. Brazil, Gulf of Mexixo, North Sea, Namibia (and other places 35 hours from home).

I take it you've never been to Scunthorpe.
  18. Plenty of new coin-op laundry businesses opening up in Muang Udon Thani with commercial grade stainless steel front-loading machines. This could see the demise of the moobahn business with maybe 4 or 6 domestic Japanese or Korean top-loaders with the bolt-on coin boxes.
  19. In my recent experience, GoogleVoice needs a non-VOIP number as part of their application procedure for getting a GV number.
