  1. My mate in the UK advises that cocaine is the overwhelming recreational drug of choice for the weekend escapists. And he's living in a "rough" end of the northwest too.
  2. Smoke this... Anutin Charnvirakul of the pro-marijuana Bumjaithai Party. Health Minister in the last government and now Interior Minister in this photocopy of a government. And get back to me.
  3. Now, now, let's not cast the ignorance jibe too quickly here, ok? I haven't met any of your family members, as you so obviously haven't met mine. You have simply no idea of the cost of an off-piste wake on St Barts.
  4. Huh? It's basically the same bloody government that relaxed the laws last year that want to tighten them this year. Sheesh...
  5. Ah yes, there's that precise scientific term "vastly" once again. Synonyms include, "gigantic", "enormous" and "whopping".
  6. So says the bloke who reckons a thousand quid is enough for a piss up and send off. Sheesh...
  7. A more obsequious and odious public British personage is very hard to find. If Epstein were still alive, he would be distancing himself from Mandelson.
  8. Two things needed here: a Living Will, which is a legal document that details how you prefer to receive medical treatment, or not, when you can no longer make decisions for yourself, and a Will for when you are dead and what relatives and/or friends should do. Appointing an Executor of the Will is a significant part of this. There are lawyers who can assist here, but these both need to be accepted as legal documents in Thailand and the homeland of the OP and/or Executor.
  9. Each person's pension yields a different value pay cheque depending on how long and how much they contributed. The pensioner that worked longer, making more contributions, will get a larger pot to piss in than someone who didn't.
  10. She was 17 and the age of consent in the UK is 16. No law was broken, even if he did sleep with her (which he denies and is completely unproven). You've got nothing. The only thing that's missing from that litany of obfuscation is the "she's not my type" defense of a certain, self-confessed pussy grabber.
  11. I've heard of a few horror stories about those that avoided the bar girl trap and were hooked by a respectable, older government worker or teacher who, once they spliced the mainbrace, found themselves obligated to assist with the incredible debt that their 'respectable' partner had amassed prior to marriage due to the easy access to loans and finance that these government workers get. Plus they gamble like crazy. Even the ones that (say they) don't.
  12. Considering that this is purely an online, internet happenstance, it can't be the halitosis.
  13. According to the earlier post by @ballpoint where he had to hunt down the tax office that had red-flagged his passport with immigration, they sort of already do have some degree of synchronisation. Back in the 'civilized' UK, there's already linkage between HMRC (revenue), HMPO (the passport office) and even DVLC (who issue driving licenses). There's absolutely nothing to stop Thailand pulling their collective socks up and getting everyone similarly tracked, be it for taxes, overstay or DWI. Especially now they've signed up to the big boys club at the OECD. PS: Cambodia is over there ====>
  14. That won’t make you non tax resident. If you spend a total of 180 days here in a tax year you’re tax resident. It’s not 180 days consecutively it’s 180 days in total…. Correct. Best option is 4 months on, 4 months off over three countries. Let's see now... Thailand in Nov-Feb, Cuba in Mar-June and UK July-October.
  15. Speaking as either the director, or owner, or sole-trader or employee of several foreign companies over the past 45 years or so, as a professional international tax exile gypsy, I have. And it ALL got refunded. People gotta panic.
  16. What it will do is make a good portion of expats SAY they're leaving to live elsewhere, whereas in reality they'll still be here, complaining about life's inequalities and how Thailand still sucks.
  17. Incredible eh? That's how many, many "more civilized" countries have been personal income tax assessment and management for decades.
  18. The UK state pension falls below the level requiring tax, ie less than the personal tax free allowance for the UK. So tax free. It does however qualify for Thai taxation by amount. I hope you are correct of course. Since the UK state pension varies widely from person to person, there's no way you can claim they will qualify for Thai tax. Most pensioners are way underfunded and won't get anywhere near their full benefits. I would wager that most pensioners pitching their tent here will barely make the lowest tax tier. The balloon chase will endure.
  19. You are? Seriously? I'm thinking about whether to have a late lunch or skip it altogether.
  20. Where's the value of either your friend's experience or yours without the "definitive" information of which immigration office each of you deal with?
  21. You're being robbed. My wife gets mine for 10 Baht every year. LOL, if his wife gave him back the 190 baht change, maybe he wouldn't be drinking lite beer.
  22. Here? Where's here? Most Immigration offices have a maximum validity of the Kor Ror 2 they will accept. For example, for Udon Thani Immigration, it's 7 days. As per @Lite Beer, a copy can be obtained from the nearest (any) Amphur on producing your ID.
  23. "Omg!! Sending love and prayers and hoping for a speedy recovery," "So sorry for what happened! You are strong and so wonderful.. you'll get through this! Sending you big love and positive vibes," "You're such a fighter car and I'm so so grateful for it. love you and can't wait to make more memories together this year!!!" "This must have been so scary! I admire your resilient and positive attitude. hoping for a speedy recovery and sending you hugs," Thus speaks the "so so" easily influenced.
