Locked out of Bangkok Bank bualuang banking app (overseas)
I've been banking with Bangkok Bank for almost twenty years. I'm not about to jump through arbitrary hoops and open an account with any of their rival banks and learning about their poor customer service, annual fees and indifferent online banking services "like all banks" just because my phone died.

Bangkok Bank app PITA setup when using a new phone
AS Bangkok Bank now mandates that the app be accessed on only one smartphone, you can use the app to delete an 'old' phone profile so that a new one (new phone) can be added. If you can't access your app and delete the dead phone, activating the app on the new phone doesn't work with the three methods the app provides. As I have just discovered, if the old phone dies and the app is no longer accessible, one does need to visit an ATM to get the app running on the new phone as their system will still have the old (dead) phone listed. This is DESPITE there being no change in the phone number (same SIM card) as they register the handset's unique IMEI number*, not just the phone number. * "An IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. Think of it as your phone's fingerprint — it's a 15-digit number unique to each device. Phone carriers and manufacturers share IMEI numbers to enable tracking of smartphones that may be stolen or compromised." It appears that Bangkok Bank use this technology and active biometrics as part of their phone fraud countermeasures.

WRLife medical insurance - experiences?
It appears that most respondents on this thread are unaware of how the mutual insurance model works. There's also a lot of ignorance about what a deductible or co-pay is for. Do your own due-diligence, but if it's too challenging, speak to an insurance broker. I don't see any reason to castigate ANY insurance company if one hasn't used them, or used them but failed to read the 'small print', or cancelled a policy because it 'didn't feel right' and not because of any challenging claims or actual bad experience.

Locked out of Bangkok Bank bualuang banking app (overseas)
I have just come unstuck with the Bangkok Bank smartphone app when the phone it was hosted on died overnight. I swapped the SIM into the new phone and tried to activate their app there. You have to turn off Wi-Fi on the phone to 'Get started' The first 'User ID' activation option using the Bualuang iBanking login/password gives the generic 'an error has occurred' prompt. So tried the next option using the Be1st ATM Debit card number/password which tells me I am already registered but doesn't proceed to the customer login and kicks you back to 'Get started'. Doh! The third option uses account number and Citizen ID number, but that says the information I'm providing is incorrect, which it isn't. However, it only accepts the 13-digit Thai ID No. format. When I updated my bank account information in a branch a few years back, they never asked for that, just the passport number. This isn't accepted on the app (not enough digits). I think the reason the User ID activation option is failing is that it still has the dead phone selected as the default and only device. I can't access the app on the dead phone to deselect it. So it looks like I will need to visit the bank and/or an ATM to get this sorted out. Their online information only seems to address a new activation on a new device or with a new number. The instructions are also linked to setting up new Bualuang iBanking access (new usernames/passwords) which I DO NOT want to change. My Be1st ATM debit card is expiring next month so I will visit the branch this morning armed with all the identification, old and new passports, yellow book and pink card AND PASSBOOK to see if I can kill two (or three) birds with one stone. In the meantime, I just activated three UK bank and two US bank apps on the new phone with no faffing about. Verified the three account ID items requested with a single OTP.

Yeah as we take on so many things American maybe they should take on this one My father served in the Scots Guards during WWII. Having lived and worked in the US thus having American friends, some still in the military, I acknowledge and respect their veterans Memorial Day while they acknowledge and respect the UK and Commonwealths's Remembrance Sunday (Poppy Day). Respect does not have to be either, or.

Change in the tax law does target expats living in Thailand and extends reporting obligations
What's your tax status in the country that you will be remitting your funds from? I placed the laugh emoticon - I have trouble imagining how they will ever figure that out! They won't have to. There's no tax authority ever going to chase after the difference on personal income tax rates. The money will either be taxed at source thus Thai tax-exempt or not taxed at source and thus liable for Thai income tax. It is up to the individual to make the decision on where they want to pay tax. The individual is free to select the domicile that attracts the lowest personal income tax rate without breaking any laws anywhere.

Which gift has your partner appreciated the most?
Two bar girls from Soi 6 from about 15 years ago. One was keen, energetic, very popular and made you feel special. She didn't hang out and drink with the other girls after work. Saved all her money, bought a pickup and a small plot of land, built a house. Retired within 8 years, keeps chooks, grows veg and sells it down the local market. The other one, same age, was less genuine, liked to get wrecked, saved nothing, unreliable and had a couple of kids from two different Thai guys back home. Now past her prime and still flogging her patch down in Patong.

Trump leads Biden in 5 key battleground states: poll
The 'but Hillary' argument is so 2016... It is time for the Millennials to take over this leaking, creaking, global love boat before it founders (again).

Looking for a laminate parquet floor installer
Laminate flooring isn't the same as wood used in traditional parquet so I don't think there's any artisan's skills involved unlike traditional parquet. It's a composite material made from super-compressed wood-based materials. It's relatively easy to DIY and after watching a few YouTube's, I did the floor of my 4 x 5 meter shed myself with about 8000 baht's worth of stuff from Thai Watsadu. Took about 5 hours with beer and noodle breaks. I am not sure if Thai Watsadu still offer the service but they can contract a third party to do installations of stuff purchased, so they may hook the OP up with someone who can do the laminate flooring job. I think Global House and HomePro can also provide tradesmean installers.
