  1. Thaksin's political vehicle is on its third iteration. Thanathorn's is only on its second re-invention. When they = 3, maybe they will get another stab at abject failure.
  2. Sorry, but unlike the lazy Brits and indolent French with their expansive social safety nets, the Thai people simply can't afford to go on strike.
  3. How simplistic. The current Constitution that enables this rigged upper house can only be rescinded after a new, non-loyalist, coalition government is seated and manages to rewrite the Constitution. As sure as death and taxes, the current "caretakers" will still be in place and will renew the expiring 5-year "fixed" Senate with more of the same under the protections of the current Constitution.
  4. A sweeping generalization. Just last week, the Lords rejected several of the more odious items of the sitting UK government's xenophobic immigration law reforms.
  5. And if she hadn't placed at all, the rabid flock that invented the notion of "trans haters" would be loud and proud. They totally devalue the Pride movement with their ever-expanding gender classifications, supposedly in the name being "inclusive". To paraphrase Blaire White, a prolific trans YouTuber, "What on earth is 2SLGTBQIA+? It sounds like the Wi-Fi password at Starbucks."
  6. Only as far as the army-stuffed upper house exists. Their 5-year use-by date comes up some time around April 2024. ...unless the "caretakers" hang on to power (and you know they can) and re-appoint another 5-year Senate (which they probably will).
  7. How about the Dutch women? You know, the ones that were born woman and remain women? This has buggerall to do with fragile male egos. I'm with Allison on this. The crowning of Miss Netherlands is a brazenly ambitious form of misogyny When I was growing up, men were best at most things. Little did we know that one day, they would be better than women at beauty contests https://www.telegraph.co.uk/columnists/2023/07/12/miss-netherlands-transgender-model-rikkie-valeria-kolle/
  8. An abstention is not a No vote, never has been, never will be. Anywhere.
  9. Another "loose screws" moment maybe? Could be the start of an alternative Schindler's List.
  10. It's a great way of assessing how one's current paramour may turn out as the years roll by because you will be meeting her mum and seeing how the genetics of physiology play out. If the future mother-in-law is an overly-large and a bit loud, then I reckon the OP's got himself a keeper. Like Neville Southall.
  11. Not if the orangey-red mob burn it down first.
  12. <cloudflared again>
  13. The clever golfer avoids all that walking and can be found at the 19th hole.
  14. Since the emoji's are no longer attributed to the member posting them, how do you know the confused aren't engaging you more fully in a subsequent post? Since the emoji is a pretty limited form of communication, depending on your comment post or opinion, maybe they are sharing your confusion? Aren't emoji's the domain of the inarticulate and slothful anyway?
  15. The photos of the dismantled travelator accompanying the various stories show the detached wheel from the unfortunate victim's rolling suitcase. Yes the screws could have been worn and the non-steel combs loose, brittle and broken but users need to take precautions when using these things. With the advent of rolling, push-along (versus pull-along) cases being pushed ahead with one hand while watching their smartphone in the other... an accident waiting to happen just happened. These airport people movers tend to be blocked by people who don't undretand what they are for in that they rush to get off the plane, get on the people mover... and stop walking. I avoid them at busy times for this precise reason. I will now avoid these things totally.
  16. You honestly thought that was ever going to happen? Sheesh...
  17. About the same non-reaction as my in-laws when they found out I was older than them.
  18. well, if he is your son and you were married to the mother when he was born then you should have legal guardianship over him WITH the mother and both of you should have been asked to sign. So they probably f*cked up. How do you come to that conclusion? He has his ID card and I didn't have to waste time at any Amphur's office. I was out of the country when they went for the ID card anyway. I know he's my son because I saw him coming out of the hole two years after I married my wife and he's been living with us ever since.
