  1. It appears you have not fully read the OP. "My daughter is turning 16 this month. She would like to buy a motorbike, showing me photos of different motorbikes, it scares me. I'd like to buy her a car. Can I register and insure the car in her name, she is only 16?" I stand (sitting, actually) corrected.
  2. From the OP (my emphasis).
  3. But according to the contract. Oh, wait...
  4. Since the OP has not mentioned anything about insurance, what's the relevance here? PS: Don't talk about what's legal or otherwise. We are in Thailand after all.
  5. A time-wasting scammer? This forum is chock-a-block with either scammers or those that call EVERYTHING in Thailand a scam because they didn't learn to tie their own shoelaces all those years ago. Sheesh.
  6. A totally VERBAL agreement. Next?
  7. Yes, who knows how much money the OP has lost due to this time waster. If you put a deposit down then renege, be prepared to lose your deposit. That's exactly what it says in the contract. Oh, wait...
  8. Did you not read the posting? So the OP is potentially out of pocket. Hope this helps.
  9. So no clue what he meant then? For this morning's pedants, it is pretty obvious that the OP's erstwhile tenant was applying for a Thai visa at the Thai Embassy or Consulate in the foreign country where he lives.
  10. Note that a noisome few of the forum's membership consider anyone residing in Pattaya to be of the latter persuasion. There's evidence there are also scoundrels living elsewhere in this Blighted Realm.
  11. There have been reports of some immigration offices getting anal about the monthly stipend arriving on-or-about the same date each month. For example, the BoT decided that they would take a New Year holiday last Friday 29 December in lieu of taking it on Tuesday 2 January. For me, a transfer due to post last Friday won't post until next Tuesday. There has also been reports of some immigration offices requiring that anyone filing for a Retirement Extension needs to provide proof that the funds are from their homeland's government pension agency and not being very happy with self-funded or private pension funding. It behoves anyone pursuing any Extension to enquire at the Immigration office where they are filing to make sure they are compliant and avoid surprises. It's a pity that despite the well known fact that Thailand's various Immigration offices do NOT apply the same rules and regulations, people asking for advice here seldom state where they will be applying. Similarly, those offering their advice based on personal experience seldom state where that good or bad experience took place.
  12. Meanwhile, in 'real world' Thailand... Not arguing the Thai laws and the regulations. Just stating that like most all Thai laws and regulations, they can handily be bypassed without penalty.
  13. Get her a 10-year-old banger to learn and then commute in. Once she's of legal age, she'll piss in the driving test, get herself a licence and who knows, by that time her boyfriend may stump up for a decent, new motor.
  14. My son at less than sixteen can be the majority shareholder in a corporation. You have assumed too much. Create a corp. She can own the corp. Have the corporation buy a motorcycle. Problem solved. But the OP doesn't want her to have a motorbike, he wants her to have a car. BTW, can a Thai corporation have a Thai driving licence?
  15. I guess not since the legal age to drive a car is 18 Whoops, there it is. That 'legal' age thing in Thailand again.
  16. Depending on the day, what post office, the clerk that's serving you, one MAY be asked to either show or declare what's in anything you are mailing. We are dealing with a state-run entity run by jobsworths.
  17. Discussing what's illegal on a Thai-centric forum in Thailand. Is it 1 April already?
  18. There's also Cialis in eye-drop format for those who just want to look hard.
  19. Followed the procedures as mentioned by others of activating the mintmobile account and then adding up roaming BEFORE installing the eSIM. All went to plan. Tested both-ways via Vyke, my buddy's US Skype and another friend's US mobile. I will wait until after the holidays before updating the US bank, PayPal, etc.. Now have my UK and US numbers on the new phone. Thanks for all the assistance rendered on this thread.
  20. Sir Thomas Sean Connery - the best 007 ever. He used to live here.
  21. Vyke is a good solution. My US bank accepted it for 2FA, but I had a struggle registering it as my primary PayPal US number. AFAIK, Google voice doesn't accept any VOIP numbers (like Vyke) when signing up.
  22. Loads of EV's on the roads in Muang Udon Thani. BYD seems to have caught a load of attention up here as there's more of them than Ora, Tesla or MG. Not sure if their 'quietness' is really a safety issue as they tend to be in among the regular, noisy IC engined stuff and their tires make the same road noise like any other vehicle. Unless it's a souped-up pickup, it's road noise you hear above any engine noise. Especially if they have stuck great big knobby tires on their Fortuner (you know who you are). In my experience, just like regular drivers here, the scooter drivers are loath to use their horns... unless they've got at least 4-up and they're already flying through the intersection on red light at +80 kph. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......p! Like that's gonna save your life? Anyone that doesn't use their EYES as the primary determinant if it's safe to cross a busy road needs a slap. More so here in Thailand, where one-way and contraflow (and red lights) are rather abstract constructs.
