Rejected at Nong Kai border for unknown reason
NanLaew replied to siwiek's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I just looked at the appointments in vientiane at the thai embassy...dozens of appointments available every day with the click of a button for all types of visas?? so what's the problem that u can't get an appointment The OP didn't say he couldn't get an appointment, he said that making an appointment means waiting for it. Last time I heard (and looked) around this time last year, the nearest appointment in Vientiane was over 2 weeks away. When I checked with HCMC in Vietnam, it was nearer 4 weeks wait for an open slot. Now go back (like you ever did look anyway) and check the appointments calendar and advise us what the FIRST AVAILABLE DATE is. Thanks for playing. -

There's a whole lot of it about, especially on these hallowed pages. -

Really? I honestly thought you were older than that. If you think the thread's a wind up, just stop reading it. -
My understanding is that if you have never had dengue, the vaccine may make the symptoms suffered during your first infection more severe than they would be normally. Or they may not. I also understand that if you have had dengue previously, the vaccine will most likely make the symptoms more severe than what was experienced the first time. This is due to dengue having at least three known variants, and the vaccine's interaction with your own antibodies may not be beneficial if the dengue re-infection is by a different variant. I had dengue once and based on the above, I don't recommend it for my family members or myself.

I do not see anything in my Bangkok bank App to allow me to do this. On the landing page upon opening the banking app, left-hand side under 'Quick banking', there's a 'Top up' button. Once you have used it, it remembers the number you last topped up. If you want to top up a different number, reselect the carrier button rather than the 'remembered' top up button. If you have the AIS (or DTAC, or TRUE) account app installed on your phone, you can top-up from there. If you chose to top-up from there, it will launch a login to your banking app as above.

And your "reality" suggests that shop owners are those blowing a wad on this passing fad. The landlords RENT these shophouses to the dopes, so the dopes are the ones that lose money and go broke. The 'shop owners' are (still) laughing all the way to the bank. Same as they did when they rented the shop out as a bar, then an internet cafe, then a coffee shop, then a mobile phone shop, then a massage shop and now a weed shop. Sheesh...

Good point. I missed the 'Thaksin years' in that I was living and working elsewhere between 1990 and 2005. When I returned, I noticed a fair few long-timers, including some friends living and working here, railing about how anti-farang he and his successive administrations were. It's hardly surprising that maybe they still "don't like us" much. However, I'm not endorsing that claim that Prayuth was "the most expat friendly PM Thailand ever had". He simply put the big pan of boiling frogs on simmer.

Now, now, let's not cast the ignorance jibe too quickly here, ok? I haven't met any of your family members, as you so obviously haven't met mine. You have simply no idea of the cost of an off-piste wake on St Barts.

Ah yes, there's that precise scientific term "vastly" once again. Synonyms include, "gigantic", "enormous" and "whopping".

So says the bloke who reckons a thousand quid is enough for a piss up and send off. Sheesh...

Prince Andrew 'spent weeks' at Epstein home - witness
NanLaew replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
A more obsequious and odious public British personage is very hard to find. If Epstein were still alive, he would be distancing himself from Mandelson. -
Two things needed here: a Living Will, which is a legal document that details how you prefer to receive medical treatment, or not, when you can no longer make decisions for yourself, and a Will for when you are dead and what relatives and/or friends should do. Appointing an Executor of the Will is a significant part of this. There are lawyers who can assist here, but these both need to be accepted as legal documents in Thailand and the homeland of the OP and/or Executor.

She was 17 and the age of consent in the UK is 16. No law was broken, even if he did sleep with her (which he denies and is completely unproven). You've got nothing. The only thing that's missing from that litany of obfuscation is the "she's not my type" defense of a certain, self-confessed pussy grabber. -
What is wrong with Thai women (on dating websites) in 2024
NanLaew replied to StayinThailand2much's topic in General Topics
I've heard of a few horror stories about those that avoided the bar girl trap and were hooked by a respectable, older government worker or teacher who, once they spliced the mainbrace, found themselves obligated to assist with the incredible debt that their 'respectable' partner had amassed prior to marriage due to the easy access to loans and finance that these government workers get. Plus they gamble like crazy. Even the ones that (say they) don't.
