Elite visa : use an agent or not
Onerak replied to kevin612's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
But for a retirement visa you must be over 50. Elite can be purchased at any age. If you're retired and don't want to keep 800K in a bank, you could use an agent for 15K for extension. That will amount to 300K in 20 years, provided the agent fees remain the same for 20-years. Still cheaper than an elite. Of course for an extension one must be present in Thailand and there is no such requirement for a multiple entry elite visa. You can come and go anytime you want. And each time you enter, you get one year "permission to stay" stamp. -
20 year Elite card - 1Million Baht
Onerak replied to scorecard's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Wow, that is good news. I am from USA. So, I can apply for an e-Visa while in Thailand and hop to SIngapore or Penang and come back with a TV entry for 6-month. Great. Will do that. Thanks for this valuable info. This may be my permanent process to stay 6-month in Thailand. Get an e-Visa from USA and then get another e-Visa while in Thailand. Exit once to a neighboring country and then fly back. ???? -
I don't complain. I voluntarily stay 6-month in Thailand to avoid oppressive heat in Las Vegas and some sea breeze on Jomtien beaches. If I could afford I would have moved to California. But I don't think I could purchase a house in California coasts after selling my house in IL and my condo in Las Vegas that generates nice income for me through AirBnb.

20 year Elite card - 1Million Baht
Onerak replied to scorecard's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes I am aware of that but trying to do least number of exits and least number of visits to immigration offices. I have been to the neighboring countries multiple times. I don't have any more desire to do travel to neighboring countries. New Zealand may be an option. How easy to get a TV in New Zealand? I have not been New Zealand. Want to do it before I die. I know New Zealand is not a neighboring country but want to take a mini vacation. -

I always wondered if a person does not extend it further. Just convert to Non-O from Tourist for three months. Perfect for 6-month stay for a person aged 50 or more like me. Get a tourist visa, extend it for thirty days, put 800K in the bank convert to Non-O for three months and then withdraw the money. Of course there may be some loss when converting back to dollar. Convert back to dollar and take the money out of Thailand. Repeat the process ad infinitum. Or can you hire an agent just for Non-O conversion? Of course there is always option of border run for a second TV. I am coming in July on a TV (three month guaranteed) and still trying to figure out what route I should take for my 6-month stay. What is the easiest place for a TV. I remember getting TVs in Penang in 2011. -
As the title says. Is it already published in the Royal Gazette? I am travelling to Thailand on July 3, Don't want any surprises at the airport. I read removal of mask mandate already published in the Royal Gazette. Wondering if removal of TP is also published along with that or not. Thailand pass website don't have any notice for entries from July 1 yet. As usual they are always late even publishing a notice.

Vietnam is 8.6% cheaper than Thailand

May be Thai actors were easy to recruit than compared to Vietnam. It's a a more than 30 years old movie. -
I was expecting nobody will pay anything for a used unit now because mining is a negative investment at present if someone has to pay for electricity. I was happy when I found out that the second hand units are now available for $700 in eBay + 120 for the power unit. (My total investment was 1200 including the power unit). New units are off the market. But I'm not selling it. I am not selling anything, including the 5 coins I have mined so far. I am just greedy. I am considering my crypto investment of 1200 + 300 is a total loss. Will see what happens next year or five years from now. I can resume mining if it ever picks up. May be I will repurpose it for brute force password cracking for hacking purposes ????

Should have invested in gold instead of crypto. My total cash investment for crypto purchase is $300 which is now $100. I bought an LTC mining machine for $1,200 and mined 5 LTC. I get free power from Solar in my las Vegas home. So basically all the five coins were mined for free except the mining machine investment. I have even stopped mining now. Mining machines are still holding their value and I could sell it on eBay for $700 as of today. That is my total crypto loss.

This is a simple concept and applies to most countries. A visa is obtained at the embassy and it allows you to enter a country. All immigrations will vet you before an entry is given and give you a permission to stay. For example, you may have a visa for ten year but your permission to stay is six-month. Visa exempt entry is when you don't need a visa to enter a country. Some countries don't have visa exempt entries. Some countries have only for passport holders of certain specified countries, etc. A visa on arrival is when you obtain a visa after arrival at the port of entry (for example an airport). For Thailand specific stuff, others have already posted umpteen times in this forum.

Thailand should call time on 2pm to 5pm alcohol sales ban: Kla
Onerak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Desperate people trying to find silly reasons hoping tourists would come flocking. THirty million tourists came before Covid even with the ban. We don't need any more tourists than 39 million. These people have gone bonkers. Severely lacking in original ideas. -
How to apply for LTR Visa (Long-Term Resident)
Onerak replied to Chevol's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It will be available from September 1. -
Has U-tapao hot yai flight resumed? That was my favorite flight when I was on O-A visa. To trigger the second year of the visa I used to fly Hat Yai and then spend a night there and took the van to Penang the following morning. Spend one night in Penang and then take the train to hat Yai and then flight to U-tapao.

renew retirement visa and reentry visa
Onerak replied to rickthailand's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If the OP has basic understanding of difference between a visa and permission to stay, it is OK to call it a retirement visa. But unfortunately 80% posters in this forum don't have that basic knowledge.
