  1. I don’t engage with in depth conversations. No reason to do that with another man. It’s more like in college with drinking buddies having a good time.
  2. She may be unable to physically remove him and have no family or friends around to do it. What then? Just sacrifice the property?
  3. You can get Mexican citizenship and a second passport pretty easily in Mexico. Many in the USA have done it and just go in and out as they please. Like I said before though it’s more expensive then Thailand living there, if you go cheap it gets dangerous.
  4. Great point. Maybe the criminal element is different here or Thais have different cues for sketchy behavior. I don’t know much about it. It could explain why staff are nosey, or watching things all the time around my condo complex as well. No real crime in my building at all, but leaving the lobby unstaffed and not watching every resident coming and going would be a crime. I think it’s done under a guise of “service”, but it’s really keeping tabs on people.
  5. Going back to my home country works if I want to pay $2000 a month for a tiny studio.
  6. Is Vietnam still giving out one year visas at the airport?

  8. Are you happy there?
  9. Yeah, it’s weird that they don’t get the concept of giving the menu, moving away for a minute or two, then coming back. It’s not that difficult. Often I think it’s about trying to rush me, but there can be few customers and they are just standing in the corner later on doing nothing. It’s like they are either desperate for a sale like a child would be waiting there, or it’s an anxiety thing where, rather then moving away and asking or being relaxed they over do it, or they want to get back to playing on the phone asap and waiting there means I order quicker. Could also be a personal immaturity or fear about me finding the service unsatisfactory. So they dare not step away for a second. Or, it could be an over bearing manager who is watching their every move on camera and they get fired if they don’t stand there.
  10. If it were me I would just move to Thailand, live on the 40k, and not sell the property on oz (or rent it out via a property manager), and put 800k in for the retirement visa. If there is a medical emergency just tap the retirement funds for payment, get care in Thailand, and return to oz if needed to the property you have. I would not sell the property. At 72 you may need to move back and you will be stuck if something weird happens and not have a place. At 72 it’s going to be hard to buy another place. Early wills don’t work for most people. Most run out of money. That’s “life”. Why not leave the house in oz to the daughter?
  11. Let me give you a hand.
  12. Your lying.
  13. It’s not a one off. It’s almost every store or eatery I go into. Is this a big mystery to you? Please admit you are irritated by this and don’t pretend it never happens.
  14. Google translate has it as: โปรดทิ้งฉันไว้คนเดียว ฉันแค่กำลังมองหา I will just break out the phone. Still seems repulsive though that they do it. I wish they would just “move away” from me.
  15. I’m finding service by Thais to bother me more lately. Especially restaurants with guy servers or just in general. They stand real close, too close, when your looking at the menu. Or a lady with get up and stand real close to me when I’m shopping for clothes. I feel like I need to appease them rather then shop or order. Or that I need to hurry up so they can get back to whatever they were doing. Where I’m from we call this simping. It’s repulsive, esp when guys do it. Is it appropriate to shoo them away when I’m on their store territory, or better to just leave? How do other people handle this? Another weird thing is they don’t seem to do it with Thais as much. They are just left alone to shop or order. Simp.
  16. More like they made themselves loose face. You don’t even need to say anything, that’s how fragile they are.
  17. It’s more like they are just fighting for scraps. I don’t think business owners put that much planning into things here. It’s a bottom of the barrel scene.
  18. Wow, who cares.
  19. Thefts are almost always people you know, not people randomly showing up and deciding your place deserves it. Its people that are closest to you and know who you are.
  20. Some of it is a need to advise or mentor others. It’s very common even for non vloggers. Not sure if it’s an ego thing or whatever. Maybe if your here longer your a big man, or whatever. You couple that need with being short on money and you just get a bunch of newbie advice vlogs over and over.
  21. Not true at all. Most people will go where others go or want what others want. It’s tried and tested in marketing.
  22. I appreciate your honesty. Why are you here? Is it because it’s cheaper?
  23. Probably people coming into inheritances as they get older. I had a few relatives get a wad of cash and just end up burning it.
  24. They don’t like exchanges and refunds here like in other countries. They also don’t like you trying stuff on or testing things out, or in many cases even browsing too long. Most of what they are selling is cheap garbage from China with most always something wrong with it, especially clothing.
  25. I saw some packed coming from Jomtein but It’s not a lot relatively speaking. They would be picking up groups from the night market or along the whole beach stretch. Any city that was halfway crowded the trucks would be packed each time. I think people are inflating the popularity of the place, or like you say, it’s goofballs hyping YouTube channels to make it sound exciting. You can see in the vlogs them walking down the same few streets in central each time.
