How did you view the listing? Via the web? ???? You didn’t need to go to an agent to do it, did you? Someone made a recommendation and you were able to view it online. Of course it wasn’t a particularly useful recommendation, as the poster didn’t pay attention to almost any of the criteria. Personal recommendations should take everything into account, as I did. Not just trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. I also considered to exceed the space requirements. No sharp edged furniture. If someone falls in a small space with sharp edged furniture…Safety of balcony. Low traffic area etc Some of us put thought into what we do. Others may think that are smarter than they actually turn out to be.

Recommendations can help to pinpoint exact areas and buildings on which to concentrate your efforts.

For that to make sense, he would have to know what he was talking about in the first place. His entire knowledge is “go to see an agent”. Not even a single actual recommendation within the criteria. Useless and insulting to the OP in my opinion.

Why is it that you are looking forward to viewing such listings if you are not interested in them for yourself? Your budget is MUCH lower and you cannot move anyway, since you don’t want to lose your deposit. Methinks you are just a Troll. Funny. When I travelled to Oz for the first time and visited a beach suburb, I was surrounded by girls. It seems they go out separately from the men. They were asking if there were more like me in my group(it was just me). Similarly when on an island here, I made the ‘mistake’ of buying a round of Tequila for a group of Aussie girls ???? Others can research the recommendations more intelligently. We had this thing nowadays called the Internet. Research can be done on the recommendation beforehand. If it sounds good, you can follow up. If not, move on to the next. Obviously, you didn’t do that. You lived in at least three different places and have now decided that you don’t like living in the city at all ☺️ So it sounds as if you are referring to yourself, who was unable to do any proper research and instead ran around like a ‘headless chicken’. An intelligent person would not need to do so. Even if I didn’t supply pictures, they can be found online. In fact, I already knew nice places that would fit your budget and requirements, but I absolutely would not get involved with you, because I understood that you wouldn’t ever be satisfied. It’s not an accommodation issue with you; it’s a ‘you’ issue. You were looking for a lifestyle, a bit like you had in Bangkok, but it’s not working out that way for you. Others may just be looking for decent accommodation, rather than help with their other issues. Don’t worry about the OP. Agents are everywhere, he can find one if he needs one. This thread is for recommendations. If you don’t have any, perhaps you can find a more suitable thread.

For example; I used to live in a 200 sq.m penthouse on the beach road. Private elevator access only served two apartments. Closest to beachfront that you could get in the beach road, other than Windy Inn beach side. You won’t find it through any agent. Recommendations can be useful. That doesn’t rule agents out either. Whereas you are advocating agents only. Doesn’t seem intelligent.

It’s exactly the opposite. It’s a waste of time looking at listings if you have no idea of how they look, including the exact location, in real life. Accommodation might look good in pictures, but you get there and decide no even before you enter the building. I narrow it down to places for which I like the feel/location and then look at the other factors, such as price, size facilities. Looking at pretty pictures doesn’t come close. Recommendations can certainly help. Areas to avoid. Good transport links. There are also accommodations that don’t have any agents attached at all. You wouldn’t know anything about them unless you found them yourself or someone told you about them. But of course if you are too lazy or simply unable to make the effort, you can just end up with the mainstream.

Don’t be silly now ???? No one has suggested to not use an agent. Hipflat at least gives you the name of the agent. You can visit the website of the agent directly to view and enquire as to what is available and to arrange viewings as and when. I have no idea as to why you are nitpicking your way through this. Intelligent people would first find the area in which they want to live and go from there. You chose the centre and are now complaining about the other malcontents living there. No agent is going to be able to save you from yourself. I made a survey of the areas to find a place where I liked regardless of the people around. You seem to baulk at doing anything for yourself.

One thing I noted during growing up, was that some girls didn’t bother to try to develop any positive character traits, as they could get by on their looks and a bit of guile. I didn’t waste my time on those. I left them to the guys seeking an ego trip. As long as they had a pretty girl on their arm. Extrapolate that to now and it’s the same people doing the same thing, living the same life. Only now they don’t look good anymore. I decided to not depend on my looks and instead to develop positive character traits. Not ever utilising money or influence in my relationships. So now I have relationships that don’t depend on money nor who I might know or what I might do. Solid. Taking advantage of desperate people is not a way to live.

Why would you imagine that pictures are not available? If a building is recommended, pictures and availability are easily obtained. Your issue is that you live in the wrong part of Pattaya. It’s nonsense to state that you don’t like the city. You just choose to stay in the ‘worst’ part of it, because you convinced yourself that you couldn’t stay anywhere else. But that’s because you don’t know any better, but you think that you do ????

You are missing the point. Why does it have to be on recommendation alone? Why not a combination of information gleaned here followed up with an agent? It’s only your brain compartmentalising things. Whereas, the OP will get out of the box ideas to follow up here. For example, beachfront as opposed to just sea view. The sound and feel of the sea makes all the difference.

But yet you’ve ended up in a place that you want to leave but cannot, as you don’t want to lose your deposit. I think you shouldn’t really be offering advice to others, whilst denigrating the advice sought here here, given that you pretty much messed it up for yourself. Some of us have deep knowledge, but aren’t compromised by the need to make money. Better to do your research as to possible buildings and THEN look at agents who may have access to a few within that building.
