No different than anywhere else in the world. Banks loan what ever they can get away with at the time. A vicious cycle. Then contract. By the time people learn the score it is either too late or they don't care anymore. Sad situation for people that borrow.

Magazine ranks Thailand 9th best retirement spot on Earth
Gknrd replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Agree the 70's were great. Unfortunately I cannot live in Thailand. I have very mild asthma and in Thailand the air is so bad it makes my life miserable. Here in the US , Mexico , Colombia , and a few others I have no problems. Also I love the Mexican vibe. And the food. But, I live in little Mexico in the states.. So, part of my culture. Lived in Thailand for years though. And the hot latin women have gotten in my blood... hahaha -

Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I travel quite a bit, try leaving a negative comment for an airbnb . I have left a couple and they bury them where no one see's them. Also trying to talk to airbnb service. A joke to the nth degree. About the same as Thailand. -

Time To Think About The Tour De Thailand 2024
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
Normally I would agree, but not in Thailand. I am a runner, The quality of air alone is like smoking a pack of cigarets a day I would guess. Then the Thai drivers are nothing short of insane. -
Time To Think About The Tour De Thailand 2024
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
Gasping for breath and dodging crazy Thai drivers.. Great fun, sign me up. During a famous holiday in Thailand I actually saw a Thai driver run over a motorcycle. The motorcycle was in a turning lane and the driver wanted to pass everyone so he got into the turn lane and was hitting crazy speeds. Motorcycle didn't know what hit him.. -

About 40 years ago I was flying to a small town in Peru. I remember we banked hard and it almost threw me out of my seat. Then a steep dive down and landed on a runway between two mountain peaks.. Great adventures and great time. -

Thai tourism revises goal to “5 million Chinese tourists” in 2023

I live on the Texas border with Mexico, Chineses are fleeing China and trying to get into the US by the hundreds. Can we ship them to Thailand for a nice vacation... TAT, contact the border patrol and add a few thousand to your stats. Chinese are getting as bad as the Mexicans trying to swim the river and enter the US. -
Thailand’s real estate sector eyes foreign investment boost
Gknrd replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I think the US used to be the Chinese number one option for buying homes. But, the US has clamped down I think, and they are heading to Thailand to buy. Actually Thailand is a better place for them to buy now. As hard as it is to believe it is more stable than China. The rich and wealthy want out of China. Or an option if and when things get really bad there. -
And as the military rolls in to stop the democratic elected PM protests. A heart broken ex PM steps in to take the reign for another four yeas of military rule. He had been looking forward to enjoying his long awaited retirement and say's he is pro democracy and will fight to help democracy prevail in the next election, and the next election, and the next election.

Chinese tourism deterred by tourist scams in Thailand, says Atta
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Got to blame lack of Chinese tourism on something. This has nothing to do with reality. Typical TAT blabber.
