Thaksin freed on parole and returns to Ban Chan Song La residence
brianburi replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Good point. How are you supposed to look if you have heart issues??. I live with CHF and PAH and spend a lot of my day attached to an oxygen concentrator but still look as 'hansum' as ever........ but certainly not as mobile....... -

Being an ex military sort I only ever spoke to folk if they were lined up in three's in front of myself...... I dont' mind expats at all, I just make sure my BS detector is highly tuned before engaging in conversation. Having lived in the same town 18 years now, the ones that used to disturb me when I first arrived , were those who would rather jump in the fridge freezers rather than make eye contact when shopping trolleys would cross in Tesco/Big C/ etc....

I have PAH, pulmonary arterial hypertension and take one sildenifil 20mg every 6 hours. Interesting medicine and interesting side effects..... Also take 2 different type of water tablets, again both very effective at getting rid of excess water in the body. I get lung fluid buildup. Used to take Amlodipine, can make your ankles swell.....

It’s Saturday, so it’s scrambled eggs. All other mornings mostly oats/bananas etc. You would be surprised by how many do not know how to cook scrambled eggs. Top kitchens in London would get potential chefs to prep some. Gordon R in particular… My wife’s version are akin to rubber….

Bangkok Bank Letter for Immigration
brianburi replied to brianburi's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP here, just to answer a few Q's On retirement extensions since 2007 On money in the bank method and extension due renewal 8 April 24 Have been to Immigration and they just said Bank statement showing 12 months of pensions, nothing about Bank codes etc. Main pension is a UK government service pension which is paid into CitiBank, Bangkok and then transferred across to my BBL savings account. I am fortunate enough to be able to just use this pension as above 65K Baht a month. UK state pension is just an added bonus/benefit. I have maintained above 400K bank balance but have used some of the 800K for hospital bills. Do I have to make this up 2 months prior to the renewal?? It did not cross my mind to ask the Captain ic when I was at the IO. I can always go again and ask. When this forum was Thaivisa there was an example Bangkok Bank foreign transaction letter but I could not find it on a search. -
Bangkok Bank Letter for Immigration
brianburi replied to brianburi's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thx all for replies. Just checked my passbook and codes are BTN - BahtNet. I think that is because both pensions are paid into CitiBank before being transferred across to BBL ??. I'm not a great one in regularly updating my passbook as I tend to use mobile banking app. On updating my passbook recently it jumps from Jun '23 to Dec '23. As extra evidence for immigration I have UK tax certificate P60 and a confirmation letter from UK state pension centre (IPC). UK Embassy in Bangkok did not do us any favours in discontinuing the income letters......... -
For my next annual extension based on retirement I plan to do the monthly income method. What do I ask my local branch of Bangkok Bank to provide in the way of statements?. I read somewhere about a ' credit advice statement' which just shows foreign transactions. I have two UK pensions paid into my savings account every month and have been for several years. The staff at my BBL branch are young and mainly helpful but often have difficulty with understanding the strange reqirements from foreigners. Trying to explain my UK state pension proof of life certificate last year sent them into meltdown. Bank is in Sri Thep, Phetchabun and Immigration Office same province.

Pink Id card for foreigners
brianburi replied to Enquiry123's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You can get a proof of address from Amphur if you are married to a Thai national. Its free but will take a few hours of your time. You need two witnesses and of course wife..... I did it last year for renewal of 5 year DL. The Amphur staff gave me a list for what is required for Yellow book . I have nt followed it up having been here 20+ years and managed nicely without one. You get a few Thai women who have husbands from Myanmar etc, thats how I found out about the address letters. This was in Wichian Buri, Phetchabun.... -
Must Read Thailand starts checking foreigners' passports on domestic flights
brianburi replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I have lived here for two military coups. On the last one '14, provincial buses were stopped just before entering Bangkok at Army checkpoints. The soldiers made all the passengers get off the double decker I was on and produce ID cards. Myself and another western bloke both handed over our passports for checking, I did'nt have A Thai DL. Being an old sweat myself, in a foreign country always carry some ID............. -
Retirement Extension
brianburi replied to StevieAus's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Not a great idea to go quoting rules and clauses to Immigration Officers. You will soon get short shrift, I tried it even saying I would report them to Div 5 HQ. I was told to leave the building and not come back. Our office in our province does not accept income or combo methods, just the bank deposits for both retirement and marriage extensions. I now use one of those 'cheater agents' in Pattaya and excellent service too........ Our Imm office is one of the 3 P's, the one that sits beside P-Lok & P-Chit....... -
Ditto, I always read the new content page first to see if 'Laughing Lou' with the standard ' read the OP, read the link' is around. On prolific posters I have'nt seen much of Trans from Ubon Rat recently.......

Good morning, interesting stuff about those combo medicines for BP. The cardiologist at Phitsanulok Hosp put me on Entresto 100mg tablets for CHF. A combo of valasartin and sacubitril. They are very expensive, 2,680B for a strip of 14 and I currently buy them from an online pharmacy in Bangkok, slightly cheaper than the hospital pharmacy. I am not aware of if any generic ones here or if can buy separately to make it cheaper. In the UK I was perscibed Amlodopine too and at a cardio appointment I mentioned a side effect was swollen ankles. The Doctor replied he had heard of no one dying of fat ankles ' keep taking them'

Has Chiang Wattana been open 21 years???. I have been here the same years as you and it was the nightmare that was Suan Plu. About a three day trip for us up country bods. One day just to go to Wireless Road and get the Brit embassy income letter, across to Silom to Bangkok Bank HQ and then at least allow a whole day for the extension in Suan Plu. I remember one year going there to get a re-entry permit, another PIA. One thing I always found funny there was the certificate of residence was done in the overstay fines office.......Happy times......

That's nice... The Op is posting on the Pattaya forum and asking about pizza places in that fine city......

If you live in Phetchabun city try the private hosptal Phetcharat, they are supposed to have a skin specialist there. I live in the south of the province and use another private hospital, Mittraparp Memorial Hospital in Saraburi. In 2020 I had a basil cell carcinoma removed, six visits to their skin department, initial consultation, biopsy, operation, stitches removed final check etc. The costs around 37K Baht in all. The specialist holds the clinics in the evening as he comes up from Bangkok. As some were late nights wifey and I would stay in el cheapo hotel and drive back next day.
