Tourism Council's Plan to Combat Overtourism Revealed
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Hatred is strong here. Let's put things into prospective for you. The cream of sex workers in Thailand cater for the Thai Market. That's 90% leaving the 10% "the plain Jane's" for the gogo and street walkers. Such arrogance and hatred baffles me why some use this site. I have thai friend's who lost all because of covid. Selling off assets to stay afloat and feed ther families and I'm talking about rich Thai not the poor who alway live day by day. Debt, credit cards, gold and assets were all used up. And these were people who did not work or have businesses in tourist areas. Thailand is in a financial mess with the reserves gone., yes, those reserves that we no longer here about the mighty foreign reserves! -

Monk Leads Project to Build Elephant Shelter in Chiang Mai
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
As already suggested, if the photo = the shelter then where is the left over 900,000baht going? Plus it is more like a death trap; come the first major storm. All that corrugated iron flying about. What could go wrong. Do I hear a future plea for donations to help injured elephants???? -
Thai Hotels Face 111 Million Baht Loss After FTI Group Insolvency
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You do knowthe Wall is just a movie? Yes China did have a vast impact but I think you will find that China envoys were in oar of the Kamer empire. Please also not that emigration is totally different to tourism. What a bizzare statement. China wasn't doing zero dollar tours in medieval times. -
Closure of Thai Car Plants Sparks Investor Concerns
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It really amazes me the blind ignorance of some people. The blind support for electric cars. Just ignore that they are far worse for the planet and the poorest people, children included, who are held at gun point digging in poisonous mud for the chemicals needed. The scares on the earth extracting hundreds of thousands of tonnes for each battery. Hypocrisy is strong here. Years ago people went on about blood diamonds well these vehicles are "Blood Cars"! When you witness an ev fire you would never set foot in an ev. -

Chon Buri Woman Fatally Stabs Abusive Husband After Years of Violence
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Walking out the door is always the best option for a man or woman. Yes it happens both ways and men being in abusive relationships is far more common than you my think. On a humerus note! I would never, ever smash my wife's rice cooker! That's dicing with death!!! -
Woman Sells Home for 1.5 Million Baht to Escape Noisy Neighbours
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Had this problem once with a new local gathering shack for partying near my house. After 2AM the thump, thump, thump of base caused me to snap. Jumped into my vehicle and stopped right outside their parents house and pressed my horn until the music stopped. Never happened again. Dangerous, Yes, but one can't be a door mat and sometimes you have to just man up!- 22 replies

Tourism industry demands action amid 300-baht fee controversy
BritScot replied to snoop1130's topic in Central Thailand News
Why don't you just do that! Some people have principles. Being charged money which disappears into the pockets of the few and never benifits the intended, so my answer is NO! Thailand's tourist areas should be absolutely perfect by now with the gazillions of tourist money spent in Thailand. Look at the sidewalks! Try pushing a wheelchair or pram along them, raw sewage pumped into the sea, lack of security for tourists ie being kicked to death in the streets by rabid packs of feral thai men. One could go on and on. But, let's not forget the hospital scams, taxi scams, government triple pricing for parks the attitude which filters down to every somchi!!! I would gladly pay 1,000baht if if resolved these issues but not one satang to benifit some currupt bureaucrat. -
Teen fatally shot by grandfather after constant disruptive gatherings
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
The grandson refused to open the door! Should have thrown him out with his clothes in bin bags. The poor kid killed should have shown respect in someone's house and left. At the end of the day t was the old man's house. -
Pit Bull Mixed-Breed Dog Attacks, Seriously Injures Five-Year-Old Girl
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
It is nothing to do with "The Nanny Dog" the name given to the breed for it's loving and very protective nature to its family "Pack". The problem lies with the owner's ignorance and that owner should never have a dog of any breed. Owning a dog requires knowledge of the breed traits, very early socialising and training. No dog should ever be off the lead in public and never ever left to roam at will. This poor dog should 100% be put down and the owner banned from owning a dog for life and compensation given in trust for the victim of millions. Thai people should never own pit bulls or any of the large breeds because of their attitude and lack of both knowledge and responsibility. -

BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Yes I/we lived in Thailand. From 2002 ~ 2005 lived 50% Kow Tow and UK (scuba diving instructor), 2005 ~ 2007 (teacher Bkk), left due to coup and immigration and attitude change towards foreign teachers and replacement with Philippine teachers 2010 ~ 2019 built house and retired left due to immigration changes 400k/800k on principle plus didn't like living under a dictatorship/coup. Also my children's education and more opportunities for them in the uk. Yes still have a house in Thailand. Will we move back full time in the future "NO!" I will not pay tax on my income I don't earn in Thailand and already paid tax on plus I don't like living on a knife edge not knowing what new law will be introduced next week. 180 days a year maybe! Hope that helps. -
Chinese tourist missing in Thailand, 25 million baht ransom
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Wow! I lived with a wife and 2 children in Thailand, very comfortably on just over a million baht a year. 3 big bikes, a new vehicle every 5 years. Paid private school fees, short break holidays most months and a very good social life. You must either waste a lot of money or not know what your talking about. A lot of Thai's live on 120,000 ~ 180,000baht a year. -

Aussie man sues Thai ex-wife after Danish affair & money swindle

Aussie man sues Thai ex-wife after Danish affair & money swindle
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Obviously someone with no idea. Let me see: 1. Trust my Thai wife more than an other erson. 2. Been married 18 years. 3. That applies to the world. 4. Why? Once married that is a real ass w.....e thing. Secrets are a cancer in a relationship. 5. Hidding your valuables from someone you should trust indicates your with the wrong person so leave. Finally: marry a bar girl or "I was just a cashier or it was my first night" then you get the soiled goods you deserve. It is near impossible to meet a good Thai or any good woman if you shop in the red light areas of any country.- 119 replies

Thai man seeks justice after dowry deception by his girlfriend
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
No your correct according to Thai tradition (that all the rose coloured glasses brigade on here are always singing about). The correct rules for dowry payment are simple: she has to be a virgin! This woman was scamming from the start. If she had been serious she should have grabbed this guy with both hands. He had shown he was serious. Hope he gets the police knocking on her families door. Yes he is entitled to every penny back. -
British Pensioner Struggles with Frozen Pension in Thailand
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The reason is very simple: Tony Blair and Gordon Brown stole the British State Pension Fund as well as selling off most of the country's Gold. They also closed all the military hospitals (they would have been very handy during times of pandemics) with promises that veterans would be top priority but with a sneaky clause "upto doctors discretion". State Pensions are now generated by those working. So all our contributions are gone and all those still Working, their contributions are stolen to pay the current pensioners. -
Taxing times: Tourism Minister stands firm with 300 baht tourist tax
BritScot replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Wow another I'm alright Jack!! Another with shallow principles. Monetary wise 300baht is insignificant, however the principle is huge. If it was used to better the tourist journey and facilities in Thailand then make it a 1000baht but we all know there will be zero benifit to tourists, but a few pigs at the trough will get fatter. Plus what's wrong with back packers? Never forget it was those adventure tourists that put Thailand on the tourist map. And Gi's -
