If I remember right this guy was in a bar that was raided that had underage girls. Be careful out there! Remember ask all staff and people in the bar for their id's before ordering a drink!!! Before throwing stones remember that underage in thailand is under 19 years old. Sentence seems ridiculous when murder gets 12 years! He wasn't caught in a sting, no nonce on his computer. So again be very careful out there.

British Driver Arrested in Wichit for Reckless Driving- VIDEO
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
And as do racist remarks! Regardless of its common use "Farang" is a racist slur that offends the same as coconut, slanting Bridge (so many thais took offence to that). Also no one is excusing his behaviour but the way law is handed out in Thailand. Example: I get 500baht speeding fine while Thais get 200baht and the answer I got when I questioned this, the police reply was gold, "You Farang, have more money". -
Journalist in Samui Threatened with Violence Over Luxury Villa Report
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
So many billionaires on this site. Quite surprised they have the time to post here. It must be so stressful navigating their luxury estates. Reading about riff raff and their 10 million baht sheds.... I built my detached bungalow of 110 m2, for 750,000baht and I am very happy with our 3 bedroom home of my design (built in 2010). Land was free as family land. I had plans for a 1.2 million baht house but we felt it was far to big and would stand out in the village. I project managed and purchased everything to ensure it was best quality. Teak doors and windows and quality building material. -

Thai Mother Accused of Killing Son in Wales Appears in Court
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A few things mentioned here, so let's put one thing to bed straight away! Britain is not a racist country regardless of all the liberal, Marxist idiots scream about it. She would have been given adequate money (unlike Thailand) to take care of 2 children and herself especially if she didn't smoke. She had a roof over her head and even if she found herself and children about to be homeless they would be placed in emergency housing. This is a simple case of a woman who for whatever reason snapped to commit the worst crime any woman can commit, "Killing of their own child". These things happen regardless of race. Yes it is common practice in Thailand for all crimes to be offered a 50% reduction in sentence for a guilty plea. This is a very sad case all ways you may look at it, but one thing is for sure, she and her remaining child will be taken care of far better in the uk than in Thailand. -
Thai MP aims to ‘stimulate’ economy with sex industry legalisation
BritScot replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
How will this stimulate the economy, as it goes on regardless of the law. Extra tax, I think not. First sex workers will not declare their income, they will not pay tax. The big brothels that cater for Thai only will switch from paying military/police to paying as little tax as possible. Shifting deckchairs on the Titanic as its sinking comes to mind. -
What rubbish! Mr T and his sister were elected by the people and would have been elected again had they been given the chance. So, any charges or convictions are void when brought by the people who carry the greatest crime against the country: Treason. Let us see those who commit this crime be punished by courts with the ultimate sentence.

Minister Supamas Acts Swiftly Amid University Degree-Buying Scandal
BritScot replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
When I was teaching in Bangkok, I refused to alter exam results and told the principle, "if you want to change then go a head, I won't ". I would not be involved in insulting my students who tried by passing those who didn't care or try. I would do everything I could in helping my students who tried their best by designing tests that helped them. I read out every test result. My greatest joy was a term test I made, there were prizes for Boy's 1st,2nd,3rd and girl's 1st,2nd,3rd and seeing the pride and joy on the faces of students who struggled academically but put in so much effort win, wow! And the pride their parents had when they collected their prizes..... -
Thailand is definatly 3rd world when it comes to road warning bollards correctly positioned. Lucky a bollard next to the danger or a branch. Then again blacked out windows does not help. I did it with my first vehicle in Thailand and that was enough of a wake-up never to do it again. Driving at night was a nightmare full of scares and near misses.

Older Diesel Cars to Undergo Stricter Inspections to Curb Pollution
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Maybe I'm just unlucky but every diesel vehicle I've bought new in Thailand (Triton & Everest) have spewed black smoke if an aggressive departure from the lights etc. My conclusion has always been bad fuel or they don't install real catalytic converter. My vehicles are always well maintained. -

Thailand mulls allowing foreigners to buy 75% of condo units
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You know they are talking about the units in a block? IE! Only 49% apartments in a condo unit can be owned by the dirty, smelly, criminal, unclean foreigners!!! The other 51% are owned by saintly, perfect, all knowing, hub owning Thai! -
Survey Reveals Pollution as Thai Citizens’ Biggest Worry
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Can't read dribble that's obviously lies. I'm sure the number one concern for Thai people is the same for poor people around the world including the uk! Putting food on the table and paying bills. I support making more CO2 to help the plants grow. People are just so stupid. CO2 = life without it the earth dies. I would be happy with people picking up their litter and stop pollution. -
Thailand Tourism Industry Slumps: Urgent Reforms Needed
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Reading comments and one reason that seems missed is the risk of a beating by packs of feral Thai males. Every time this happens the fallout is massive. People read about it several times, or know someone it has happened too. They ain't booking a Thai holiday anytime soon. For me if I didn't have family, friends and a house in Thailand I would never go back. Plenty of more friendly countries to visit around the world. -
Tourism Council's Plan to Combat Overtourism Revealed
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Hatred is strong here. Let's put things into prospective for you. The cream of sex workers in Thailand cater for the Thai Market. That's 90% leaving the 10% "the plain Jane's" for the gogo and street walkers. Such arrogance and hatred baffles me why some use this site. I have thai friend's who lost all because of covid. Selling off assets to stay afloat and feed ther families and I'm talking about rich Thai not the poor who alway live day by day. Debt, credit cards, gold and assets were all used up. And these were people who did not work or have businesses in tourist areas. Thailand is in a financial mess with the reserves gone., yes, those reserves that we no longer here about the mighty foreign reserves! -

Monk Leads Project to Build Elephant Shelter in Chiang Mai
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
As already suggested, if the photo = the shelter then where is the left over 900,000baht going? Plus it is more like a death trap; come the first major storm. All that corrugated iron flying about. What could go wrong. Do I hear a future plea for donations to help injured elephants???? -

You do knowthe Wall is just a movie? Yes China did have a vast impact but I think you will find that China envoys were in oar of the Kamer empire. Please also not that emigration is totally different to tourism. What a bizzare statement. China wasn't doing zero dollar tours in medieval times. -
Closure of Thai Car Plants Sparks Investor Concerns
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It really amazes me the blind ignorance of some people. The blind support for electric cars. Just ignore that they are far worse for the planet and the poorest people, children included, who are held at gun point digging in poisonous mud for the chemicals needed. The scares on the earth extracting hundreds of thousands of tonnes for each battery. Hypocrisy is strong here. Years ago people went on about blood diamonds well these vehicles are "Blood Cars"! When you witness an ev fire you would never set foot in an ev. -
