  1. People playing cards, domino's or darts... Wait they already do that to foreigners.....
  2. Think your missing the point about sizes and masks and their uselessness against viruses. Size of a virus is 20 nano meters and a micron is 1000 anometers.. Good reply but the minute you mentioned green peace all credibility lost. An organisation now run by non scientists for political gain (the founder left because of this Patrick Albert Moore well worth a listen to about climate change) a bit the same as who.
  3. Thank you! I did feel quite smug and pleased with myself at being able to retire early but by no means retire rich. We were very happy in our 120m2 bungalow I designed and had built at a very good price (I site managed and purchased all materials so new everything was top notch). 8 years very happy and Smug. Then coup. We lasted until 2019 then we left (this being the best decision I've made). Left with a few suitcases and we started again in the uk. Which turned out best for my children, wife and me.
  4. Come on Thailand use can do better! Bangkok 3rd worst polluted in the world, only 2 places to be the number one in the world.... Come on Thailand you can do it. Campaign for Thailand Number 1. So sad you could actually cry. Greed has been the downfall of Thailand since the beginning of time. Thailand could have been a real paradise, just look at its geographical location. It could have been a Japan or a South Korea or a Singapore but no! A few families insure the people are never going to progress. Burning rubbish waste, vehicles spewing thick black smoke (I still believe it is to do with the diesel sold because even a new diesel and you put your food down and a cloud of black smoke appears, if in the uk I do this in my Rav 4 which is now almost 8 years old and nothing... no black smoke).
  5. The real numbers are decreasing and will continue to decrease. I for one was a person who loved Thailand but now I would never choose to go there for a holiday but family keeps the tie open. If truth be told I prefer holidaying in the UK.
  6. Yep your right. A captain of an aircraft carrier in the uk had the audacity to do what every other ships captain had done before him and used the allocated captains/ships car for a personal trip. He lost the ship which I personally think was wrong. I think the fact that his father had been a top man then it is only right that he got the respect he deserved (right or wrong). I'm surprised they only could find only 2 aircraft that were in working order which would cause me more concern: Why were only two aircraft used?"
  7. Really? We must have very different circles of friends. Having lived/worked in Thailand on and off since 2002 having met many expats as friends from different parts of the world the majority have left Thailand mostly because the Rose Coloured glasses clear and Thailand starts to grate on them so they leave (me included). I've known only two guys who came to thailand one arrived as a uk millionaire and lost it all (yep bought a bar) he got a job back in the uk and is happy enough another guy lost everything through a woman and stupidity because he purchased quality apartments and built a house (all in the new wives name). The second the house was completed she got the police and kicked him out. I would say anyone who is clever enough to retire early (myself included) is well capable of turning a buck when needed. Very smug and very derogatory to others.
  8. How long is "a long time ago"? 10 years, 5 years, 1 year, 6 months, last month or a week ago?? Its all in ones prospective!!!
  9. Ah the "It happens everywhere else" argument/excuse! First it's a Thailand forum and second in civilised countries it is very rare as when reported to the police it is acted on severely and licensing are revoked regardless of who you are.
  10. Sorry I do not believe the truck driver! Having ridden motorbikes "big bikes" in Thailand. Thais seem to have zero regard for motorbikes on the road and the rule of I'm bigger so more important springs to mind, it even goes down to my vehicle is more expensive so I'm more entitled. Then there is the very bad driving. Taking my children only 15km to school and every day between 3 and 6 vehicles would pull out of a soi or just cut across 3 lanes without looking. A big truck is rather hard to miss when riding a motorbike, you kind of see it a long way off...
  11. So in real terms it's a big win for the deformation law 'Everyone is to scared to report the Green, Brown and Blue mafia' let alone the government.
  12. Plenty of other countries out there.
  13. There is no excuse for assault with a gang of so called doormen against one man or person. In the uk I'm sure the law still is 7 on 1 regardless of the level of violence is attempted murder. I'll go out on a limb here; obviously the club obtained a work permit for said ex employee!!! They are like little children lying and making stupid excuses digging themselves deeper into the brown stuff.
  14. Saw lots of this in the gulf of Thailand (nearly every dive site had discarded fishing nets of some kind). Don't get me started on long tails and boats dropping their anchors on choral beds and driving their boats over clearly marked dive groups on marked dive sites. Maybe it's all better now!!!@@?
  15. Even worse is asking the question "where is the ........?" and getting the "We no have" because they can't be bothered to look for you. Then you see what you asked for. How about watching them opening 200 cartons of cigarettes and asking "can I buy a carton only to be told "we don't have!" Customer service is really bad in Thailand. Prices similar to UK even higher yet they pay their staff a fraction and work them twice as hard 12+ hours a day and 6 days a week.
  16. Really, that is your take on it? I would suggest that more threats, intimidation or even brown envelopes will be tried. However, due to their "We are the greatest in the universe" attitude they are about to be re-educated. I hope that she is already setting up the hidden cameras in preparation....
  17. Always the same on here! Blame the victim. There is never a reason for a group of doormen or security to beat up anyone or even raise their voices, NEVER!!! Time for Thailand to make the leap from primeval atleast renaissance...
  18. Why? They were very probably just doing what they were told. This is not a one off infact its well established.
  19. They want their slice of the pie! It's brown or white and can hold a stack of 1,000's...
  20. Why? Anyone can talk to interpol! I would imagine a celebrity would have many friends which equates to lots of contacts. Extortion under threats is a crime and with it being done on a foreign person's outside the Chinese embassy where the fact they were Taiwanese may have some relevance and make it a far more serious crime international.
  21. My biggest regret I have now is doing the Tiger Temple during a trip to the river Kwia and the Graves and the elephant riding. I should of known better. However, I do regret not buying an elephant painting. That was a "I'll get one next time" moment which never happened.
