Russian Tourists Spearhead Foreign Arrivals in Phuket
BritScot replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Think you need to stop watching documentaries about this era in American history and start reading. Now first up I'm not an American fan but history is history. Fact 1 America had all but destroyed the North ability to fight before they left 2 years prior. Fact 2. It took the North 2 years to rebuild its infrastructure ability to fight. Fact 3. The corruption and lack of will in the south was the main reason for the defeat. Quite possibly because for years they were used as a secondary force with the USA and some Australian troops doing the heavy lifting. It is just utter nonsense that USA was defeated by the North, America was defeated by anti war protests and feelings back home. Even the disastrous Afghanistan was not a defeat but a severe ineptitude of the US government what a disaster they caused. -
Thailand Acquires Wooden Buddha Statues from Australia

Pity Thailand doesn't do the same (or maybe it did very quietly with the return of some jewelry).. -
Bill Heinecke: "Crazy to give vaccines to tourists"
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The UK has very quietly stopped the rollout of vaccines for all 16 to 49-year-olds who are not considered at risk. Nothing to see here move on. I also heard that it's now only being offered for elderly and people with vulnerable health issues and some would or have been saying this should have been the case from the start. Come on Thailand !!!!! -
Britain has a Space agency and sent a rocket up in 1971 successfully. It also has or is about to launch from a Virgin aircraft a rocket carrying satellits. 1986 saw a British woman in Space (Mz Sherman) and more recently Space walks carried out by Brits. Wish people would stop the derogatory spin about the UK. We just don't boast everytime we cross the road.

Grow a pair. For God sake what is wrong with what they have done if off duty. In fact I think they are selling their service cheap. I would use the service 6,000~10,000baht for a chauffered hassle free night out sounds OK. However there is always the chance you end up getting a shake down by those paid to protect...

I've had the police try and scam me in Thailand a few times. However I stand my ground if in the right but if wrong I cough up. My wife and I had this on the Cambodia border "A Shake Down" taken to a porter cabin inside Cambodia surrounded by armed police passports taken and money demanded to get them back. Very intimidating and scary. Yes I believe her and what the police saw was cash in her bag!!! Disgusting Thailand Disgusting.

I think you will find it has. Excess Deaths all over the world and increases in cardiac problems. Some very good data out of Taiwan who Electrocardiogramed youngsters before and then after a certain medical procedure and the findings are horrifying.... The truth will out. One should never forget about the Thalidomide Scandal and the fact they new for 8 years before it was actually cancelled.

I loved this Island back in early 2000's. It truly was a paradise. The streets were sand, life was great as a Divemaster & Diving Instructor (over 300 dives in the Gulf). Back then the 3 big killers were skin diving, scooters and falling coconuts. However, it all changed concrete poured everywhere and I felt the atmosphere changed dramatically back in 2006 and I never went back.

Three Policemen Escorting Chinese Tourist Transferred
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Always gone on in Thailand. I know a Thai/Chinese business man who never goes out without police escorts/bodyguards. The 6000 sounds about right from what I was told. Some people on here need to get their filthy minds out of the gutter, either they are racist or full of self hate (isn'tit a fact that 90% of sex work is for Thai only (the top shelf)?). Not every one who goes to Thailand is there for sex (sex can be purchased any where in the world). This attitude about taking advantage of Thai's OMG I know quite a few men who have been fleeced for everything they have (not only a Thai occupation). Such judgmental people on here maybe the term "get a life" would be a good idea!!! -
Russian Woman Injured After Colliding Her Motorbike With a Car in Kamala

Well spotted. -
When we lived in Thailand one of the first things I had to purchase for my sanity was a generator. The same power box a hundred meters from our house would blow when it rained or I think anyone dared look at it (almost weekly). Best purchase ever. Family would ask 'how much' but after 8 years we were the only lights on in the village, only tv etc, an island of light in the darkness.

I don't normally do this but I see this in the uk well I mean couples sitting in restraurants playing on their phones and not making eye contact or talking. The bitterness about older men with young wives or girlfriends is shocking on here. Thai women look at love differently than western women. Being loved, loyalty, and respected are top of their list, money is further down that priority list. In any country any woman who looks at the size of a man's bank balance are always bad news and often have an eye always open for better pickings and this is not just a thai thing.

Sorry but this goes on all over Thailand especially at village level. Example: a rich 45 year old Thai business man was supposed to marry a 15/16 year old girl and paid the dowrie and lavished the parents and girl with gifts. Prior to the wedding she ran away (I wonder why) the old man turned up with the police demanding return of all his money or to marry the girls younger sister who was not even 15. It has always been a big problem in Thailand and it includes selling/borrowing money on their children and karaoke bars are rife for this.

If you think 3% is less than peanuts you must be a very wealthy person considering the UK runs (in some calculations) 4th/5th strongest military in the world on 2% of its GDP (even have submarines with engine and aircraft carriers with aircraft) and quite often less. Tourism and its importance in brining in foreign currency as do expats which the country desperately needs (you see this nearly every day with bogus exaggerated figures TAT produce nearly every day). There is a core in these figures of friends and family who visit the expats in Thailand.
