you need to lose that chip off your shoulder. Thaksin didn't piss off tourists and anyone who told you he did is mistaken. The economy was booming under Thaksin. If not being able to get a drink in the afternoon is such a problem for you I suggest you seek help..........or a bar that does sell alcohol in the afternoons. It not that there is a shortage of them. You seem confused also whether you're a tourist or a resident.

I'm not going to get into this... It was a massive oever-reaction the purpose of which will come out eventually. As for your suggestion "Tell the people who died last time around it is a scam".........that would be a little difficult. Firstly, you dont actually know what the cause of anyones death really was and I haven't quite mastered speaking to the dead yet.

Thai student suffers brutal punishment for playing game in computer lab

I wasn't just referring to University Educated Thais. The expat community who operate as "teachers" fall way below acceptable standards too. They get away with it here though because they are foreigners. Filipinas too, they are lauded by Thais as great English tutors but their spelling and their grammar is generally poor. its no wonder generation after generation grow up with just a rudimentary education - the saddest part is nobody of any importance or authority cares. It's easy to see why provincial, poor farming families don't consider having an education is a priority.....to them it isn't one. But in the cities something must be done - Thailand needs to decide if it wants to remain predominantly feudal or be able to compete commercially on an even footing other countries from around the world. It will take a very brave leader to implement the latter. -

Having a degree doesn't make you a good teacher, There are plenty of teachers with degrees who are bad at their job. One of the underlying issues in Thailand is a general low level of education and the fact that that is acceptable. The value of a good education hasn't been grasped yet here. -

make him a better human being? It'll make him think twice before he does it again. If there is no punishment there is no deterrent and chaos reigns. It's why we have laws, to control the masses. -

no education, no plan, no accountability, no parenting skills, law enforcement that is available to the highest bidder........and nobody cares. This poor kid deserved more. The sick <deleted> who did this needs psychological assessment - he's not right in the head.- 62 replies

Taiwan seeking answers over hit and run death in Bangkok

not even in the xenophobic ball park......someone made a financial decision. Nothing more. If you want to dress it up as something else that's your choice. -
quite - I recall they requested Taksin to be sent back to them too and the UK government declined citing an unsecure conviction in the first place. This guy hasn't even been convicted. it seems to be a storm in a t-cup & I dont say that as a sympathiser of kiddy fiddlers. I'd chemically castrate all kiddy fiddlers. But there's something aboutt his case that doesn't add up. Do we know if she is "someones" daughter?

If that really is the plan then so be it but..........maybe they should seriously think about making it easier for expats to actually live here long term instead of going out of their way to make it harder. The expat community are fed up with milked and scammed. Already there are conversations about alternative places to live. THAT needs addressing if the plan is to use them to replace international travellers. This new tax law isn't going to help either.
