    Heroic indeed. The ocean is not made for swimming. Just take leisurely strolls along the beach and swim in a pool. Too many things can go wrong in life without putting yourself in dangerous situations.

    another idea just came to mind. consider teaching english online (ie Zoom) a couple of hours a week, it wont pay much, but you may attract some office ladies looking to brush up on their english skills. and as a teacher, you have a chance to connect with them and get to know them ... sorry if you think it's a stupid idea. it's hit and miss with me.

    bring your laptop to cafes and spend more time working from coffee shops rather than home. also, go to different restaurants and check out the waitresses. if there's a waitress you like, go to that restaurant often and eventually strike up a conversation. unless you don't want to date a waitress .. join a gym.

    I doubt it's just one incident that triggers this type of behavior. Probably years of alcohol abuse, gambling debts, etc... then they explode.

    I nearly got attacked by a pit bull in my home country, not thailand. It was trying to break free from the owner's leash ... the owner was holding on with both hands and all his might. If it had broken free, I'd be dead or seriously injured. Those things are scary powerful beasts. I'm not a big fan of allowing these animals as pets, particularly after my near-death experience.

    they have the potential to start wars in different parts of the country over time. cancun now has military guys on the beach. before it wasn't a threat to tourists.

    my point was that the mexican cartels have infiltrated ecuador. but not sure how bad it is. and if mexico "disintegrates", you can blame all the rich kids in both US and Europe ... they're the ones consuming the cocaine and fueling the cartels.

    yeah, there are pros to doing that. no requirements to meet. but a lot of people are not that fit in their later years to be constantly moving around. and more expensive than staying in one place.
